For me Kieron it is a place that I feel I can express myself, a place that I don't have to drive 150 miles to be with people like me. A place I hope my SO finds some support and finds that she is not alone. I hope it is a place that anyone who is (gender different?) finds something, hopefully some peace as we all need that

I can only speak for myself.

I came here mostly to learn all I possibly could about trans-genderism & to finally gain a sense of community with my own crossdressing/femininity. I'd also like to bolster my own bravery (I'm new to being in public as a woman) through the confidence of all my courageous sisters here, & I'd like to help any "lil' sisters" I might be able to. If I end up with a few real friends (or who knows... maybe even a lover for my GG & me) I'll feel doubly blessed!

It's a place where I can say what's on my mind about crossdressing. Actually putting things into words is a great thing - sometimes I don't know exactly what I'm feeling until I write it down.
And it's good to read the words of many other people who are in a similar place to me and are dealing with life in a remarkably similar way. We're not all the same, but it's possible for an isolated CDer to feel he/she is the only person in the world with this particular problem.
I even get some practical advice here.

A very supportive and non-suggestive place to visit

This forum has provided me a convienant location, like Lora, to go for support and encouragement to understand and develop my female traits without the sexually abusive and suggestive comments I encountered at chat rooms. Although I have only been a member a short time, I feel I have bonded with some of you and have followed your advice to more fully enjoy my life. This forum has given me much inner peace.

    I'm accepted here.
    I'm listened to here.
    I'm somebody special here.
    I'm nobody special here.
    I speak my truth.
Sometimes what I think is my truth is just what I want to believe.
    I read others' truth.
    I notice others' confusion.
    I learn from it all.
I am finding myself in the process.

    I make connections.
    I make appointments and dates.
I meet people from here, out there.
    My life grows.
I am finding myself in the process.

People speak their strengths, and victories.
    I envy and/or encourage them.
I set my own goals, notice my own strengths, share my own victories.
I am finding myself in the process.

People speak their wounds and needs.
I have compassion, or dread for them, and/or encourage them.
I notice and speak my own foibles, weaknesses, needs, problems.
I seek help, get help, give thanks, laugh at myself, heal.
I am finding myself in the process.

And when I think I have found myself, so what ?
Nothing..except for all the people I have found along the way...and because I put myself out there, I am one of the many that others have found...

And along these many ways and through our shared individualities and bonds..

We are finding each other and creating community.

    Simple...

Just like any other online forum, this is a place where people can communicate with one another about the overall topic of the forum. In this case, it is crossdressing. It should not matter what area of crossdressing we discuss, or who we are...male, female, gay, bi, straight, MTF, FTM, TG, TV...whatever. As long as we show respect for one another. That does not mean we have to always agree...but this should be a place that is not about shame or judgement...we get enough of that in the real world.

Hi Kieron, When I first joined the Forum, I thought the purpose of it was to understand TG/TS/CD issues, encourage one another and accept folks for who they are. Of course, I could have been mistaken but I'm hoping not.

Before coming nere i thought i was just [quote my ex wife] "a pervert who liked to dress up as a woman"!! Since coming here i,ve learned a lot about who i am [not a pervert], that i,m not alone and that there is a whole community out there who understands exactly who i am! Since coming here i,ve recieved support and understanding[I,ve even been out dressed] and as i learn to understand, hopefully i,ll be able to help others on here with their issues and return the support! Sorry to go on, but this site has helped give me a new lease of life!! Thank you.

For starters, the real object of the forum can only be assured by its founder, or founders. If one of them is around, raise your hand (virtually).

But it's interesting how many different views there are. For me, it's a place to find a few interesting opinions swimming in a sea of silliness. But that's common to every forum around the Web. You always need to mow the weeds to get to something good.

I was quite surprised at seeing how many GGs come to the forum for support or reassurance of some kind (the old "cds are not gay" thing that was beaten up to exhaustion in other threads). I believe there must be plenty of cds looking for the same thing, although some are not that vocal.

For me it was a place to talk with others like me. Share stores, help with issues dealing with dressing, as I kept coming back I found that it was a great place for mental support when my wife was in the hospital for mental illness

EDIT...Its also a great place to brag about your accomplishments!

For me, it is to share my experience, and read other's experiences, so that perhaps I can learn some things through others' mistakes, without having to do everything the hard way.

It is a place I can seek advice. I would give more advice, except I feel that in many cases, it is not my place. I mean, I am one of the younger sisters here, so I have no experience dealing with an SO in many of the ways people here have, or are, so me giving advice on it would be pointless 90% of the time.

I feel free to give my opinion, no matter what it may be, and I read other's opinions with an open mind. It is a place I am accepted for who and what I am, without any fear of rejection.

I joined thinking it might help me understand myself a little better. In practice, I've ended up understanding the rest of you a little better instead.

I'm in the wrong place.... I thought this forum was about people that got angry putting their clothes on ......

On a serious note though I joined this forum because It was nice to meet like minded people, to have a bit of fun and for the first time in my life realise that I was not alone. I am a straight hetrosexual male and all through my life I thought I was a freak... I realise this not to be the case and feel I have made a few good friends on here. Had the odd slap but hey thats life....

It provides a feeling of "Community." It provides us with dialog and information. It reduces isolation and may reduce stress. This forum seems to avoid the trap of blatant sexual come-ons, and pornography. That's something I personally appreciate.

Ultimately, it may provide all of us with an opportunity to take our CD Places in the World. It certainly seems to have helped an awful lot of people to stop their hiding, and achieve some form of self-acceptance.

    Peace and Love, Joanie

[QUOTE=Kieron Andrew;978036]I have a few questions for the MTFs here.....

In your opinion what is the object of this forum...

my opinion this forum's object was abought understanding god bless any one of you that understood your selfs before you found this place ... me i did not ....

Why is this forum in place?

for people to come and learn abought who they are and abought others they might not understand .... in a safe place were for even a little while being just who you are is ok......

what purpose does it serve or should it serve?....

what it serves and should serve.....i my opinion is simple... this should be a melting pot of people out there from all over the world that for some reason don't fit the mold .. to me labels suck .... trans this and cd that and so on we all have issues with some kinda gender fitting ,be it the guys or the girls .... and also our husbands / wifes and So's out there and our family's and Friends that try to understand us while at time we struggle to understand our selfs and them as well...

call this what you want a forum ... but for many this has been a life line ...

im just interested in your take on things to get a better understanding as to where you are all coming from.

Kieron you know i found this place abought 3 years ago ... i was scared i was excited i had almost no computer skills (still don't) i was shaking and scared to death with my first post here ... it's true ...

over time i met so many good people from all over and as a person that has changed me for ever this forum this gift we all have ...

i as a lot of people went through changes over my time here .. i was asked to be a mod then became a admin ... at times this place is overwhelming and some times it can consume all your time and thoughts .... i am truly thank full to the owners of this place to allow us this forum to express who we are ..

and were would we be without our staff??? say what you might no better any were on the web ... trust me .... just try doing the job asked from them.....

Its a nice friendly little place on the net that entertains me!

Also, I have learned a lot too...a lot of my progress as a Transgendered person came from reading stuff posted by many of the people here. But I am not going to mislead you...I mainly just find it fun and entertaining.

Finally I have met some friends in person that I first encountered here...thats always super kewl!

I luv waking up on a Saturday Morning, I grab a cup of coffee and after checking my email, then a yahoo club I moderate ... I jump right in here and start looking at the threads and posting a bit too. Very relaxing and fun.

I do my best to avoid negative stuff and drama...but admit every once in a while I slip up and might post in some thread with turmoil and trouble brewing.

I do not know about object

But I know what it was for me when I first found it. It was a door to another world where I belonged but I did not know existed.

Now it is a place to connect, to laugh, and distract myself from what has been the toughest time of my life.

Where would I like to see it go?

If it ain't broke don't fix it.
