in the uk, your doctor refers you to a psychiatrist, I think mine has retired now.

Hello Barb and welcome to the forum. I am a TG who is on HRT right now and have been for over a year. What you can do is to schedule an appointment with your medical doctor. Say that you want to confer with him/her about the topic of gender dysphoria. Your doctor should be able to help you to get counseling with a gender specialist. Once you are identified as a good candidate for HRT, then they can begin the process of putting you on it. Basically, that was how I started the ball rolling towards getting on it.
