Hotel issues we all must have...

SatinDoll got me thinking about hotels and how the experience has changed since Tina arrived. We all must have issues about staying in hotels so let me start with mine

Isn't it just impossible to stay at a hotel in totally male mode? Just look at the bathroom: Ok, I have a razor and shaving soap and aftershave...and toner, anti-acne prescription creme, facial moisturizer, body moisturizer, facial sunblock, clear nail polish (nails for males ), polish remover, emory board, facial cleanser, and my earrings....all on the bathroom counter. My closet is full of male clothes so the maid knows something is up (she might miss the skirt and blouse in the closet and maybe my one set of heels) but with a generous tip not only have I had no problem, but my toiletries are often nicely arranged for me after she cleans the room!

Even without the female clothing, there is clearly a mix of what most would consider male and female items in the bathroom, and I don't see how we can travel any other way...or want to . Can any of us travel totally in "male" mode?

    Can I? Yes.

Would I choose to? Absolutely not. Being out to a hotel staff is not something that would stop me, either.

Since most of my stays at hotels have been just one night stays I doubt very much that any staff were in my room until I checked out in the morning. Still the lingering scent of perfume and nail polish remover as well as tissues with makeup and lipstick smudges in the waste basket had to have the maids wondering......

Bringing girl stuff to the hotel is MANDATORY for a CD

Not only do I enjoy dressing in the room after a long day in conferences or around the city (even if I don't get a chance to go out dressed), I also like the feeling of not having to hide anything while on a multi-night stay. Sure, the housekeeping staff might figure out that a man is staying in the room and there are plenty of femme things aroun... but 1) I really don't think they are told who or how many people are in a room, much less what GENDER they are and 2) even if they do guess, who cares!

I take over a room when I stay more than a night. My bag gets unpacked into the dresser drawers, my dress and blouses get hung in the closet with heels and sandals on the floor below, and any bra or hose that I was wearing the day before get rinsed out and hung over the shower bar to dry during the next day. Once in a while, something gets moved by housekeeping (I've had bras folded and set on top of the dresser, and my nightgown moved from where I'd left it draped over a chair, folded and set upon the pillow of the freshly made bed!)

The only thing I 'hide' is my purse. I don't want to tempt anybody to go through it looking for money or valuables. I usually leave it in my locked baggage.

    Thumbs up

In my travels and experience I have never had a problem or a second glance. The maids care very little about who is in the room and what it is used for as long as their job is simple and straightforward. I just make sure that I do not make their cleaning difficult or time consuming.

As for the other staff, I have never experienced any problems whether in male mode or enfemme. Maybe the odd look when a male voice comes from a female person but nothing more.

I enjoy dressing when I travel. what a great way to see new places.

I absolutely have to dress in the hotel room when on business. That is the main reason I enjoy business trips so much, it certainly isn't the conferences or the work I'm doing. I dress on every trip, and next week's trip to Seattle will be no different. I don't care if the maid puts 2 and 2 together and thinks that I am a crossdresser or not. Since the maid cleans a lot of rooms during the day, I'm sure he/she just wants to get in, change the sheets and towels, straighten up and get the heck out of there.

This thread has helped me think back the short time that I have been retired, and reminded me how much I enjoyed getting dressing (evenings) while on a business trip. [I never gave it thought what the maid thought. And my closet always had a mix of male and female clothing.

This is what I do too. I see no reason for anyone to enter the room that is my private place for the period of time that I am paying for.

I travel 99.9% with my family or have a roommate! Now one time I did have a room to myself and got to dress.

I really don't think anyone has the time to scrutinize what is in your closet or bathroom, nor do they care.

One situation I learned from while a bunch of us where staying at a hotel after a party. We changed to PJs and met in one girls room to chat a while. As it turns out, my room mate needed a place to change but didn't stay over nite. Her name was the only one on the room reservation. Mine was never added. I had a key but never tested it. So here I go back to the room at 3:30 am and the key does not work.

How many of you would have your own ID (license) or phone with you in this situation? Neither did I. So there I am at the front desk trying to get back into my room and having no way to prove it was my room. As luck would have it, when the other girl left, someone else took her bed and was actually asleep in the room. I went back and knocked REALLY LOUD to finally wake her.

This taught me several good lessons. Test your key, Have your name on the room reservation, carry personal ID, a phone is not a bad idea too. Do this even if you are walking across the hall within the hotel. You never know what could happen.

They are also used to servicing many rooms being used by couples; so mixed toiletries, and clothing of both sexes in the closet/drawers would be ordinary - why would they even think twice??

    We are a paranoid lot.

Since I spent some time auditing hotels when I was younger, I will shed some light on this issue. On every maids cart is a piece of paper which comes from the front desk with the room # and the status. Another column on the paper shows if they cleaned the room.

    CO = Check Out
    SO = Stay Over

No where on that list is the # of occupants in the room. The maid doesn't know or care how many people are in the room. Even if some hotel did, think about it for a minute. Suppose they wrote occupants = 1 in your room. They see stuff for 2. First thought would be a mistake at the front desk or you sneaked a girlfriend into the room. Hotels don't charge more until more than 2 people are in a room. Therefore, even if she sees something that looks odd. Who cares. Do you think that they want to embarrass you and cause you to never stay at their hotel again or worse file a complaint or lawsuit with the home office. Everybody at a hotel is taught to keep their mouths shut about what they see.

I stayed in hotel near an airport for several months once and I got to know the hotel staff pretty good. We saw escorts come in multiple times. The hotel had survellance cameras which they could use to figure out which room the person visited. They didn't care. I think most of us spend way too much time worrrying and not enough time enjoying crossdressing.

So it's almost always both of us...

It looks like most of us bring both of us along !! Also it looks like for the most part it shouldn't even be on any of the hotel staff's radar.

I don't leave the Do Not Disturb sign in/on the door because I want the room cleaned when I'm out. I do put away my clothes and computer and such just because I don't want them messed with or damaged accidently, but I agree that it doesn't look like the housekeeping staff has a lot of time to search rooms!

It is fun to know that so many of us enjoy our femme selves when on the road!

In the last 4 to 5 years I have not stayed in a hotel in male mode soley.... And if anyone walked into my room... They would swear a female was staying there because you would have to look pretty hard to find anything male... I really have no issues staying in hotels... I come and go enfemme and in male mode... My bigest problem is loosing the coworkers and maintaining control of the company vehicles... hahaha...

I managed a good hotel years ago. to find a few things that might identify you as cd or ts is nothing. we were more concerned about cleanig up the messess and replacing things so we could sell the room again after the last bunch of pigs. you wopuldn't beleive what some people do! we're harmless.

I think some of you worry too much. The maid staff rarely if ever knows if it is a single male or couple staying in the room, they just know it is occupied. I wouldn't leave all my stuff strewn about the room either.

As Marny said as long as you don't trash the room or try to steal the toilet the hotel will be happy you stayed with them. Give the maids a tip, they have a tough job and get minimum wage.
My biggest problem with hotels is those electronic 'credit card' room keys. I either forget them and leave them in the room or the thing refuses to work when I return. Then I have to go to the desk en femme, show my male ID and get a new key.
It takes a real man to wear a dress.

I sometimes wonder what the staff thinks when they look at our rooms but most are just there to clean. I think most probably aren't even aware of how many people are registered for each room. I usually have more girl clothes than guy clothes so the closet is full. I keep the forms and pads put away when not in use but the makeup is always "at the ready" in the bathroom.

Here is something I learned the hard way. Don't leave those keycards next to your cell phone as they will get demagnetized. Better to get two cards when you checkin and leave one right next to your other credit cards.

While working with hotel staff recently, I learned that housekeeping is on a tight schedule to get all the rooms cleaned and restocked with towels, soaps, shampoos, coffee, etc and have very little time to guess who or how many guests are staying in a particular room. As for seeing a lot more feminine items in the room, GGs naturally always bring a lot more items than guys. Just don't leave ANYTHING of value lying out!

I guess I don't understand what the problem is in the first place? When I stay at a motel I'm pretty much upfront about being a gurl, anywhere on the premises as well as in my room. I even check in en femme most of the time. They do not care! Of course, I'll admit that when I was new to all this and managed to lock myself out of my room and finally had to go to the front counter I thought I was gonna die ...

That's why you ask for 2 cards. One for you and one for her.

Being a ts, I really don't care. But all who have said that hotel staff's don't care are absolutely right. Just remember, if you are a bit nervous when dressed, and your stay is more than one night-Hotel room cards usually "time out" after a certain period of time, and you will need to go to the front desk, and have it reset. Just a heads up!

    Hugs,
