Pink Fog

I've seen mention of the "pink fog" several times, but I'm still not sure what that is. Would someone please explain to me what it is?

Thank you!

Oh, I think I posted this in the wrong place. Sorry!

It,s when you get so wraped up in CDing nothing else matters. At least thats my take on it.

Funny, my wife and I were just talking about this today. My (our) interpretation is as follows:

When an individual (male or female) gets wrapped up in their appearance and believes that they may look better to themselves than to the rest of the world sees them. Both sexes have "pink fog" generally associated with Estrogen controlling the mist, but women have had more of it for much longer than any of us CDs. Therefore, the CDs, myself included, tend to see reality through newly enriched slightly hazy eyes and believe that even wearing a pair of heels makes us look like a model. Since we (CDs) have had less experience controlling it, we tend to have more unrealistic thoughts and what we see tends to be overwhelmed by our mental picture rather than reality.

Women get it when they look in the mirror and diregard that their butt does look big in those jeans. (No hate mail, this is a direct quote from my wife) Remember to always be honest with your spouse so that they can control their "pink fog", or, just say that they look nice and find something else to do....

"Pink fog" is the reason I take many many pictures. When I look back at them after the fog has lifted I can get a much more realistic view and realize I really don't look like Cindy Crawford.......damn..

I would like to add definition #2:

The Pink Fog to me is when you are wrapped up so much in feminine things that you have it on your mind all the time. Daydreaming, can't walk throught the store without checking the new clothes, etc.

I think both definitions can apply.

Perhaps a third definition:

when the compulsion to dress overrides everything else. You will haul doubletime to get fully made up and all to just have to have it all off 30 minutes after you get done,(been there).

I have also heard the term in reference to what happens when one is out shopping for new femme clothing.
Peace,

Pink Fog can progress to the point of being dangerous. If it compromises your situational awareness badly enough, you may be so "high" on being out and dressed that you fail to notice signs of danger. It can cause one to overlook anything from a pack of teenage girls who are about to embarass you to a pack of intolerant men who are about to kill you.

Go out. Be proud. Be pretty. But always be aware of your surroundings, whether you're en femme or en drab.

Definition #4 which is 1, 2 & 3 plus the fact that you can get so wrapped up in what you want and what you are doing you forget to pay any attention on the ones closest to you and their needs, then you have hit DANGER zone.

( a note to myself , don`t put a smiley at the end it may be taken the wrong way )

Ah, the PINK FOG - I have been absolutely lost in it for 8 months, now.

The PINK FOG is when CDing becomes the driving force in your life - everything else doesn't matter - You do things that you would not do if you were not in the fog.

Your confidence, courage and STUPIDITY are running your life - you just don't think straight. Crossdressing (CDing) is all you can think about.

Does that help answer your question ?

You're right... you don't. You look a HELL of a lot better!

hmm... can one have "pink fog" for another?

Either way, I've been in my own purple fog (can't say pink cause its not just a girly fog) for most of my life. Sometimes its a bad thing... most of the time its not.

I like the definition including being "high" on being en Femme...

And I definitely understand the danger of small minded men...

But I have read about the danger posed by groups of girls here a few times... and can't quite wrap my head around it... can some one explain?

When a TS's Gender Identity Disorder (i disagree that its a disorder but thats the current medically accepted term) gets severely bad they may have a Gender Crisis where they just cannot bear the suffering of living in the wrong role/body, often resulting in self harm, risky behaviour or suicide. The way to treat it is via transition and often but not always SRS.

The same thing in Crossdressers is I suspect the cause of the Pink Fog. Fight it and you have depression, snappyness, anger, frustration, alcohol and drug abuse, emotional shutdown, social withdrawel risky behaviours and suicide while giving into it means a period of strong intense release of the pressures of represssed femininity resulting in what we call Pink Fog.

When the need is less repressed and more frequently expressed there is less pressure and then less pink fog.. it becomes healthily managed, when the need is more repressed the periods of pink fog are correspondingly more severe.

Compare it to a dieting-binge eating system that harms the body badly compared to a healthy balanced diet. Or compare a boom-bust economy to one of gentle equilibrium. There are many examples in life.

And I'm growing ever more certain that this is exactly how Pink Fog works.

The danger posed by preteen and teenage girls is more of an emotional danger than a physical one. They tend to be keen observers, and they're at an age where they are particularly cruel and vicious. They will spot you in a crowd, and they're the ones who are most likely to "out" you even if nobody else seems to care that you're a man in womens' clothing. Sometimes they'll just giggle and stare. Sometimes they'll point and laugh. Sometimes they'll follow you around making snide comments.

I'm sure some teenage girls are nicer than that. In fact, I'm willing to say that MOST are nicer than that. It's just that the few mean ones are so loud and outspoken about it that they more than make up for being in the minority.

A while back I asked a similar question. Here is the thread to that one.

It looks like we are getting a lot closer to the core elements as we discuss it.

I'm afraid of the pink fog...

It might make me go out looking totally ridiculous.

Sometimes, it even makes me feel beautiful and feminine while in drab with a two days beard...

Thank you!

Maybe I am not terribly worried about that because I have never experienced it, or because generally girls that age tend to think I am pretty cool... (if only that had been the case in high school) of course none of them have seen me en Femme... but who knows.

It is good to be more aware than less.

seems to me no one really knows the origin of pink fog. from the posts i have read it is when the need to crossdress becomes overwhelming and you go on shopping sprees and then have to wear every thing you have bought. it is a compulsion that is not easy to repress and it takes over your being.

My pink fog is the euphoria I feel when doing anything in my feminine nature. That could include shopping, going out, sleeping en femme, underdressing, typing posts on this forum, or just doing the multitude of things most women take for granted.

It is the compulsive over-indulgence and exuberance experienced when a CD lets go of his guilt and exits his closet to explore his femininity.

It can also be described as a second coming of age when you pass through feminine puberty. Your sense of perspective can be knocked askew and you can become too self-centered making light of the feelings of those around you. In other words you become an obnoxious teenager!
