I have always thought of myself as a "late onset crossdresser." I never seriously dressed as a woman until my 50's. Moreover, I never had any desire to do so until then.
Recently, however, I told my therapist (who is not a CD specialist. I went for depression) that I had the "usual boyhood fascination with women's underwear." I jokingly said that it was a sexual fetish brought on by my only source of pornography: the Sears and Roebuck catalog. I would occasionally put on panties, but that was it. Bras were Terra Incognita.
I was surprised when she disagreed with me. Sure, all boys have a fascination with lingerie, she said, but not many put them on.
Now I know this is exactly the opposite group to poll on this, but I don't really want to go around to all my male buddies asking if they ever wore panties as a boy. So I am asking you all if my therapist is correct. I really, honestly thought that this was a typical thing for boys to do with the bathroom door locked. It felt like it had nothing to do with me and everything to do with females.
I have a bad premonition about the answers I am going to get, but please remember that I am not asking about you or your motivation, but whether you thought, or had any evidence that most boys played with panties from time to time.
