Its your own choice if you want to have a avatar or profile pic of yourself, but me, personally, I don't really take people all too seriously that don't have pics or hide them. (I know its wrong, but thats just how I feel) . Why even chat online if you are afraid of getting outed, there are many other ways of getting caught, but everyone has there own opinion.
Same with other social media sites, no pics = no acceptance.
And I like seeing the person I am taking/communicating to/with.
