What not to do when dressing in the car

Coming on the heels of another thread on whether to dress in the house or in a restroom, I am totally partial to doing it in the house. But most of the time I can get out to dress is at lunch or right after work. Just because of a lack of time. I try to avoid using the company vehicle dressed, but I will dress in it quickly if I am out in the field and go out for lunch and then either change back in a store restroom or in the car if I have to.

I still do not know how Karren does it. I keep trying but I am a mess. The worst things happen to me when I try to change in the car.

Last night after work and on my way back into the city, I stopped at an Outlet Mall. They had a couple of big lingerie places there so I thought I would look for a bra like helenr recommended and some earrings and a belt. I had a little more time, so I put on some make up and mascara and was trying to be fully en femme.

I carry this big pink workout bag with all my femme stuff. I caught a glimpse of my waist cincher at the bottom of it. I figured my pretty blouse would look so much better with it on. What a struggle it was to get that thing on inside that car! When I finally got it done, I put my blouse over it and started to get out of the car. Then I noticed that the tie around my waist that is part of the blouse was stuck. I get back in the vehicle. It turns out I put the waist cincher over the blouse tie. I was not about to take the thing off and put it back on, so I tried ever so carefully to pull the tie out of the blouse and through the waist cincher. I ended up snapping off one of the loops on the blouse that holds the tie. One of my favorite blouses!

Then I got it all together and I headed towards the mall. Something did not feel quite right. Something was not as feminine as should be. I glanced at my reflection on one of the store windows and I still had my male ugly shoes on! So I go back to the vehicle to change my shoes.

I still wonder how Karren does it. It all went OK after that. I did chicken out of going into the Rue 21. There were too many teenagers of both sexes in there. Darn it. I should have...

I carry a blanket to help keep from being "exposed" when changing the lower half.(that's really the only illegal thing involved with changing in a visible location). I even sometimes do the shaving and all the makeup in the car. I get hot water "for my tea" from McD's and use that to shave and rinse with. Then I plug my lighted makeup mirror into a ac/dc adapter and put my makeup on.

And yes, putting a waist cincher/corset on inside a small vehicle is not easy. Much easier to take it off!

I'd prefer not to change in the car, but have done it before. You definitely have to take some extra precautions into mind. I usually try to change in the house and if I have to run out quick, just do my makeup in the car. That's what takes me forever!

what not to do when dressing in the car? I would say pantyhose unless you are in park and have the brake set. Hard to explain standing there with one leg on and one legg dangling why you ran into someone else's car. I actually saw a woman putting on pantyhose at a stop light one day. She put her foot up on the wheel and rolled them on. Made me wish my car was just a bit higher

I thought about how I could shave and gave up. I will try this in a pinch. There is nothing worse than being en femme at night and miss your beard shadow while changing in the car and then seeing the stubble in the changing room. That is not the kind of gender bending I want to do.

I also like the idea of the blanket.

i hate changing in the car, or public restrooms. doing make-up when its dark is a nightmare too. i would usually just paint my toenails, put on all the undergarments and pantyhose on at home, and wear baggy jeans and sweatshirt over them, then do a quick change in the car. as far as make-up, i would just apply the foundation at home, then do my lipstick, eye make-up, ect in the car or a restroom.

Amen! It's like a portable boudoir! Tinted windows are not impervious to light though. I tape up window covers made of contact paper with aluminum foil on the back to block all light. Don't need any peeping toms!

A motorhome does it for me every time.
I had an uncomfortable experience changing in my car - using a deserted and fairly remote car park when a guy in a BMW pulled in right beside me as I was only half way thriugh the change, i.e. skirt, (fortunately) bras and no wig. He just sat there taking surreptitious glances at me until eventually I gave up waiting and finished the job, waved him goodbye and drove away.

Don't do anything in the car you can do somewhere better, don't loose any bobby pins and don't get naked. Also, don't park in a quiet back alley, city park or dead end...people will see your car and wonder what you trying to do there... its almost better to just park in the middle of a busy parking lot and just look like you are waiting for someone or sleeping etc. If anyone sees you, they won't see the whole process...just 'oh...some woman fixing makeup' or swapping boots. Don't lock your car keys in the car!

Don't lock your keys in the car

[QUOTE= Don't lock your car keys in the car![/QUOTE]

I never tried dressing in the car but once while dressed at a mall I did my usual walk around the outside of the mall, not brave enough to go in, and as I approached the car I found no keys in my purse. Then I discovered the engine was running and I almost had a heart attack. I looked in the window and sure enough there was the key. With the engine running where else would it be. Frustrated and scared I pulled on the door handle and the door opened. Stupid to leave the key in an unlocked car but oh so happy that I had done so.

The only mishap I've had dressing in the car? Getting the hem on the back of the skirt caught in the waistband of my pantyhose. Luckily no one was around when I got out of the car.

...get so caught up in your makeup routine while parked at a rest area, that you don't notice the gentleman sitting at the picnic table staring at your transformation for 15 minutes....

I finished and got out and walked right by him...

(it was the middle of the day, with plenty of others around... I avoid the rest stops at night while enfemme...)

Great advice, Sally. I used to routinely change in the car, and park on a very dark street to do so. One night some guy tried to carjack me. Lucky for me I saw him coming a mile away. When he charged the car, it was such a surreal moment. I was soooooooo mad. After I peeled out, I mad a u-turn and came back for him. Not sure what I was gonna do. Afterall, I was fully dressed and made up, LoL. Since then, when I go out clubbing, I get made up in the parking lot of an all night grocery store, having already put on most of my femme attire at home, covered by baggy boy clothes

I dressed in my car yesterday. I went to shopping center's parking area. No one was here. And I dressed and walked in area. Then I drived to U-road, this was a autobahn. I stopped in parking area. I walked around.

This was more useful for me. But more stressly.

This is great advice. I have learned to change where there are more people. It can be sort of nerve-wracking though. The other night at the outlet mall, a police car kept circling around me, though at a distance. That probably would be the least of my worries, but it was not fun. I hope I never lock my keys. This is something I really worry about. The other thing when I am in my company vehicle is that I have a lot of equipment in there with an inverter. If I leave something on, the battery will drain. But at least in this situation, I have time to change back into male mode.

I love my wife's mini-van for this very reason. It has a keypad so you can't get locked out. I usually hide the keys so I can't lose those either and just enter the code to get in.
