The most important reasons I use well designed gaffs is the easy of tucking, easy to go to the rest room and I can wear anything I want without worries. I wear pencil style jeans and when in a dress they are form fitting so other methods at least for me are not good enough especially when thinking about going potty I want complete ease. Everyone has different reasons for their own methods, I always gravitate to what is practical as stated above.
