Most everyone on this site is a class act, like I think I am.

My preference is the classy, dignified look. That goes for the genetic ladies as well. While there is nothing inherently wrong with it, the trampish style of dressing doesn't do anything for me.

    Question Passing

I decided before I started, that I wanted to be able to pass anywhere, anytime. So I analyzed what women my age wore, and when, their level of make-up, hair, ....etc... The looks I liked, and those I didn't. I didn't WANT stares from anyone, and don't get them unless someone's trying to be friendly. I go with class dressing but not overtly sexy in any way.

    Does that make sense?

Ya just gotta know when and where you can show up looking trashy. Thats what trips up a lot of CDs/Tgirls. Don't freaking go to a nice resturant wearing a tiny miniskit, crop top blouse, tons of bling and wild makeup. On the other hand, lets say a fetish party like 'Skin Too' ...well then crankup da bad girl look and have fun!

My girl asked me the other day, can't Samantha do her hair in a more classy style? Sadly most of the time the answer is no!

The 2 things that originally got me interested in crossdressing in the 1st place are fishnet stockings, which I wear almost every time I dress and big giant 80's/early 90's hair. I guess I'm just not a classy gal :D To each her own...
Samantha you are a very classy girl

There is no issue AT ALL with the way you dress...

some people will always disagreee. oh well

    btw....on topic humour..

When we went out for my aunts 50th wedding anniversary, my aunts daughter in law showed up in a black leather miniskirt, fishnets...etc...she was very dressed up and very sexy

my jaw dropped as i pictured myself in that get up...

the family recoiled and my aunt and said...AND I QUOTE

"jes-s mary and joseph give me strength, she looks like a god damn ***** at a christening"

Remember that we dress for many different reasons. Some are content to slip on an ankle-length dress and flats, no wig or makeup, and be happy. I'm happy for those who do that, but it doesn't do it for me. I dress for pleasure - my pleasure - and I'm happy if others like it too. I describe my dressup and makeup style as "overdone". I'm not trying to be trashy, but others will see it that way. I like high heels, somewhat higher than "classy", and short skirts a little shorter than "classy". Most of all, I love makeup, heavily applied bold eye makeup, long eyelashes, and deep red lipstick (overdone) but applied as perfectly as possible (classy). I think of this as my "femme identity". I have dressed this way in private countless times, but have also gone out this way many times, and, yes, received some attention (positive, I'm glad to report). I would not get as much pleasure dressing up if I toned it down.
Conservatively dressed gg's see other gg's in high heels, short skirts, and heavy makeup, but don't feel compelled to tell them that they're giving all women a bad image. So why should we do the same?

"The best part about being a woman is my perogative to have a little fun!" Those words are from my favorite philosopher Shania Twain. I like to say that I have different sides. I am generally told by my friends that I tend to dress too conservatively when I'm out at the clubs. I am referred to as the Church Lady or head of the PTA. I do tend to dress more conservative or in my soccer mom attire when I go out shopping, to the grocery store. Thats because I wish to fit in. Thats only part of me though. Yes I do like to dress trashy looking at times and even "like a hooker." Not one of the common street ones, but the leather mini skirt, satin blouse, over the knee stilletto boots, fishnet stocking ones. It feels great to be noticed and get a little attention at times. The hookers you used to see on "TJ Hooker." I guess what Im saying is why not enjoy the ride- why limit yourself. Even GG's get to play dress up sometimes.

Smile isn't this a question about why we dress and where we go too?

If a person is dressing in the privacy of her home, then whatever gives her that feminine, comfortable glow is what's right. If you're going out shopping, to a club, or a party, then being appropriately dressed is only good manners and good taste.

I have sexy outfits that I wear in the boudoir and for my own private naughty photo shoots, I have blue jeans and chambray shirts for outdoors, and cocktail dresses both long and short. Would 55 y.o. G Lady in good shape wear a fishnet mini to the party I'm attending without looking ridiculous? If "Yes," then so can I, if I think I can pull it off (what's that phrase, "Mutton dressed as Lamb?").

I try not to go overboard on the CD/TV weakness of shoes, too. Most gender women who are 5-11 wear flats or low heels, and I do too, except when I'm trying to look like a 'Ho. Nothing screams "party girl" quite as much as a pair of inappropriate shoes. As a matter of fact, I've never quite found a satisfactory answer to the question of when six inch heels are appropriate, although I think that I got a clue when I bought a pair of lace-up fetish boots (white wet and plastic) and got a complimentary whip inside the box http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/...lies/happy.gif

You have to play to your audience, too. I live in Manhattan, most of places I go to can be fairly outre' (a primary reason I moved here from the midwestern 'burbs to put up with $3500 a month apartment rents), and some of the stuff I see will not play in Peoria anytime soon.

I just wish there was some way to deal with my voice as easily as the clothes. When I'm not careful I sound like William Warfield singing "Old Man River."

I think it is up to the individual on what they wear and they should not be judged on that . i would never consider that my way is the right way for every one, but just for me.

This is something I have thought about myself for quite along time, and developed quite the theory about.

When I see a cd/tv/ts out and about and dressed "trashy" (as in absolutely, unfathomably out of place with the surroundings) I think its because their idea of going femme is jumping directly to one end of the spectrum. Both genders have a spectrum with Conservative on one end and Trashy on the other, with society being the way it is I'm not entirely surprised this happens as the "Trashy" side of the spectrum is becoming more common.

When I first started dressing seriously during my teen years, it was always about the high heels, short skirts and revealing tops. Looking back, I realize I did this because that's what I had pigeon-holed being a female as. Skirts and Heels are absolutely feminine, therefore to be feminine, I have to dress like this. Today, not so much. Example, I've been lounging in cutoff shorts with a new pair of low top Chuck Taylors. Not the stereotypical female ensemble, but feminine nonetheless.

I also think this happens as a result of not growing up female and experiencing the slight changes in clothing based on age and setting. Its quite possible I am alone in that theory though.

Personally, I always put form ahead of fashion. Do these stiletto boots I just bought look hot? Most def! Do they look good on me? Totally! Would I wear them in at the office or at a funeral? Not a chance.

I also think whats making things worse is that a lot of the clothing websites that cater to our community put fashion ahead of form.

So, that's my theory. Me and my one-woman army will get off the soapbox now.

I must say the trashy clothes, and especially the shoes, are the ones I covet the most. That said, I also get excited by the idea of passing in society - to be able to take a 5 hour train ride en femme, flipping through Cosmo, checking my nails, legs crossed, prim and proper, is also very exciting.

If i dress trashy, it will be just a hint; say, white blouse, curvy pants and conservative black pumps. But as I cross my leg, you may see the flash of fishnets at my ankle. Just keep'em guessing.
