She died from an air embolism after a scuba dive. She was one of the medical diving officers on the early saturation diving experiments by the USNavy. I borrowed her name as a way of honouring her.

So I chose Erica. My (male) name is not Eric, and it's not actually even that close, but still I consider that it was a bit leading.
