This was exactly my story, too, Barbara! It went on for years at most of the offices where I worked in early and mid career. I had no clue that it was an indicator of my TG personality, but I was definitely different in that way from all the other men, and though the office setup is not like that now, I'm still the only male who has an easy rapport with the secretaries and hangs out with them on breaks...interesting.
