No matter what you have and what you buy (on sale, of course; a lady always shops sales!), you will ALWAYS be one outfit short of having everything you want. Just remember to budget for it. Spending on clothing, makeup, etc. can become an addiction.

No, seriously, 42 shades of lipstick is NOT enough!

The urge to buy more will continue as long as you continue to feel a need to adjust your look, or whenever you tire of what you have. I'd expect this to slow over time as you find a look that works for you, with occasional spurts.

However, this doesn't mean that you need to empty your bank account to satisfy your wants and desires. Check clearance racks and on-line sales, but I especially like to indulge at Goodwill and Salvation Army stores where I can find great prices but also much more variety than at the retail stores.

I've been dressing seriously since around 1961 while I was in my teens. The urge to dress certainly never went away and neither did the urge to keep buying more clothes. Up until 2005, I was deep in the closet and would purge then when the urge became too strong I would buy more lingerie, clothing, and accessories. Now I'm out to the world and the urge continues. If you don't want your credit card to suffer, be a smart shopper and try buying from thrift stores, you'll find great bargains, great clothes. and the prices won't break the bank.

I continue to buy things, but I am a lot more discriminating. I've grown more skilled at figuring out what things can be combined with others so a few pieces make several different outfits. I also love the sale racks and sometimes things will have to sit in my closet for months until the season rolls around to wear them. I'm wearing fall outfits that I bought in January! Bargain hunting is a recreational activity all its own!

No, the urge never disapates. Just like a GG, your wardrobe is in a contant state of evolution. Things go out of style, others wear out. There's the 'what was I thinking' items, vacation wear, four wardrobes for four seasons. Undies get ratty, and bras stretch out, breast forms get punctured or split, and ALL your make-up runs out at once. Purple is sooo this year, and orange is sooo last year. The first time I saw skinny jeans I hated them, now they're my go to look. Who would still wear shoulder pads? Black shoes go with everything, so why do I need to buy mauve suede heels for one dress? A shoulder bag, a hobo bag, a clutch, an evening bag... I must have enough stuff by now, but nooo, Lord and Taylor cashmere sweaters on sale, and a clarins promotion next week. The cutest flats just followed me home, they'd look great with a sweater dress, I'll pick one up, oh yea, and a belt to match. I'll save some money on wigs by growing my hair out, then go to the salon every week, and I can get my nails done at the same time, and the salon is across the street from the mall...I'll just take at look, cause payless has a bogo going, but if I get two pairs of shoes, I'll need a new dress. And around and around it goes. Hugs-Celeste

The urge does not continue it just goes on and on.
If you run out of money start redesigning what you have using a sowing machine, or is that sewing?
    Work on your elegance,
    and beauty will follow.

Oh yes, from my experience over 20 years , the urge certainly continues unabated. I've had the full wardrobe for a long time but I'm always adding to it. I still wear clothes and wigs I've had for ages but am always looking for something new and different and find it so exciting to open a new package of gear to try it on for the firts time.

Thanks for the reply s, its good to hear how everyone has a passion for shopping( esp en fem) and how you deal with the overwhelming choice of new outfits. I like the idea of ebay , will have to have a ganders and see what bargains i can find.
"Getting into cross dressing is like driving down a one way street. We can stop and park for a while, but the only way to go is forward. Once you make a turn onto CD alley, you can't turn back" Great analogy sounds like i might need to park up for a while, until i can afford some more gas that is...
I thought i would be happy with just a few clothes items, but that is just egging me on to buy more.
I used the word urge cause that's what it feels like for me at this time, wanting more outfits which no one will see. Im already pondering on the idea to go out, im hoping this will help me come to terms with myself and be more open. Ok thats enough babbling about me...

I havnt even started on shoes yet!

    Thanks again muzzledJ

[SIZE="4"]I organize as well as anyone on the planet. At the moment I'm at 25 skirts, 25 tops, 5 skirtsuits, 16 pairs of heels, 8 dresses and gowns, and miscellaneous sweaters, house coats, etc. This plus my lingerie pretty much fills the 1/2 closet I have dedicated to my CDing.

Oh I'm still shopping, but now I'm refining things. Sort of a constant state of upgrade. It's very satisfying and I rarely have to wear the same outfits. I just keep mixing them up.
