    films

After over fifty years or dressing and many names, my name for the past ten years is Catherine Severine, a name that comes from the first name of Catherine Deneuve, and the last name being her character in Belle de Jour, a film from her glory days. She is unable to share intimacy with her husband, but leads a complicated fantasy life. The first time I saw the film I felt such a connection with her character I had to take the name. When I finally got my feminine Id card, it felt to me more natural a name than my "normal" name. If only I bore the slightest resemblance to her, as opposed to Jim Belushi (for who I have been mistaken...you see what I am up against here)...sigh.

Sheila feels right to me. Feminine and Musical
    Interesting Thread! Thanks.

It's nice how most everyone's name is so meaningful to them.

My Christianity has been important to me for a long time. So, when I finally confessed wife and church marriage counselors that I had always fantasized about crossdressing and was asked to leave the church and my wife filed for divorce, I took the name "Faith" as my first name. My Surname, Grace, is what should have been extended to me instead of being expelled from the church. I don't blame God, but I do blame the ignorance and prejudice of my pastor and counselors. Thus, Faith Grace, through an unfortunate divorce, was born and has been able to flourish and I am now more comfortable and happy than I, she, has ever been.

I've lived a vicarious "second life" as a tgirl in the virtual world Second Life for almost five years. I can only dream of having all the cute clothes in real life as I do there, where I'm known as Elfin Skytower, so that's who I honestly think of myself when i'm dressed! Soo much fun!

I always liked the name Jenna. So when I joined a site that would have been awkward that is the name I picked and have stuck with.

Sadly, the fantasy name I have for myself, Seitari, wouldn't fit real life norms but I've always liked the name Kathleen, or Sakura. I know of a couple people named Sakura, and they're all wonderful women. So if I had to choose between the two, I guess it'd be Kathleen, because I can't pull off Sakura.

The first time I visited my favorite store the owner asked me what my female name was, and I told her I didn't have one. She said don't worry, it'll come to you. About a week later I had a dream, woke up in the middle of the night and had my name. It's one I made up, I've never heard it anywhere.

Robbin is close to my other name. My real first friend as a young kid was a girl named Randa. We were Randy and Robbin and inseparable. The Sinclair part started out being St. Clair. I've always like people (and places) with St for the first part of the last name but after a while, it reminded me too much of a stripper's name. I wouldn't mind being a stripper but don't need the name. Sinclair reminds me of the out of business gasoline company dinosaur logo. Rob' bin Sin' Clair sounds strong with a nice four beat melodic ring. Hell, I'm a lady dinosaur so why not. xr

Then one day I was all dressed up and we were planning on going out for an adventure. She asked, "What shall I call you, do you have a femme name that you used? She didnt want to make a mistake and call me by my male name. I told her that i had been using Meghan. She had met my friend in the past, but didnt think the name fit me. So, I asked who do I look like to you? She replied..."Rachel, you look like a Rachel." I think it was the hair and my femme personallity that reminded her of Rachel Aniston in Friends. I like the name and and it stuck with me since.
Rachel was my second choice. A strong name. Hopefully, I don't offend you but MSNBC's Rachel Maddow is my favorite person on television. I love your story about your wife. I would like to think my wife will be as open about this as your's is. She's a flaming liberal like me, so there's hope. xr

My first name was Michelle, since that was close to my boy name. I finally decided on Elizabeth as I adore Elizabeth Taylor. I also picked a middle name of Rebecca after a GG I knew who inspired me. And I even picked a last name of Kelly which I chose in honor of a beautiful GG I knew in high school. So my full name as a female is Elizabeth Rebecca Kelly.

I picked my name "Laurel", because I felt it was a true reflection of my feminine side.

Choosing my name was a tough decision. Motivating factors was the Neil Diamond song and it was the daughters name in one of my favorite movies, Captain Ron. I also didn't want a name that contained any hard vowels except for the first letter.

It was actually easy for me. Call me lazy, but since she and I are two sides of the same coin, I just used the female version of my First name and used my Christian last name.

My mother always said if I was a girl, I would be named Lauren (she loves Ralph Lauren.) I would have stuck with that but I had a cousin come along and her parents used Lauren, which for some reason I feel funny about the same name. So, I tweaked it to Laura.

I started with an alternate name listed in my baby book, Kendall Ray (there weren't any girl names listed). I actually used that name during a stint as a radio DJ. Kendall is a boy/girl name so I started referring to her as Kendall Rayanne. After several weeks it still didn't feel right. Looking at my pictures, I saw that Kimberly would fit but Rayanne didn't. A little more tweaking and Renee sounded good. Choosing a surname was a bit of a hunt & peck and throwing a dart but finally Kimberly Renee Cooper was decided on.

I was trying to come up with names, and happened to be listening to the album Treasure (Cocteau Twins), and the song Cicely came on - and I sort of fell in love with the name, it just clicked.

Many years ago I was traveling on a business trip which required me to be away over a weekend. All of my non work time was spent en femme and when I woke up on Saturday morning and looked in the mirror I saw Nicole. The name sought of chose me first and then I just fell in love with it.

My name situation is a little different, as I am genderfluid (flowing between masculine and feminine, rather than two boxes) and I am out.
My born first and middle names are Kim William, (yes I was born a Kim, named after the Rudyard Kipling book).
And so I have changed my name (not legally) to Kimberly Michelle William, to have a nicer flow, and to honor my masculine aspect, my feminine aspect and my androgynous aspect. I have come out very recently, and so have been playing femme a lot. One of my friends calls me Kimberly Michelle, and I like it.
