I was asked the exact same question today also. My mom and I had our usual Sunday lunch. After I dropped her off at home, I headed downtown to meet up with another gal to watch the move Phoenix. Afterwards, we went out for dessert. While eating outside we observed the different clothes the women were wearing. We could see the transition from Summer to Fall fashions. Anyway while we were eating and talking, she asked me the exact same question. I haven't cut them for the last 1.5 to 2 months now. I just had clear polish today. I work at home so it is not really an issue. When out and about in guy mode, I am sure people notice, but no one ever says anything.
She has taught many of the gals I know a technique of putting on a set of nails in about 5 minutes.
