On being misgendered, remember that most of the time, it's not malicious. Usually, it's simple ignorance. Less often, it's just inconsiderate people not caring how it affects us. In any case, a polite request, "Please. You'd be doing me a favor if you addressed me as 'ma'am", or miss, she, her, as context dictates. Most people will realize their mistake and apologize. Even the assholes will realize that their crassness has been noted by someone with more grace and class than they displayed.
