Not a big fan of bugs and excessive heat and slithery critters so I always choose to camp during the beginning of winter.
I have been bitten by every bug out there and once by a water moccasin. He missed my leg and got his fangs caught in the webbing of my boot.
I have friends that thru hike hike the Appalachian Trail a lot and are hard core backpackers.Two have logged 600 miles so far this year until they closed it.
