    Yikes...maybe stepping out...

    Hi ladies.
I already know the majority of responses this post will generate, but I will express it regardless.
So, wife / daughter / and myself are seeing a production of "La cage aux folles" tonight. (The basis for the movie "The Birdcage.)
So.....I am in drab, but I also brought a change of clothes with me. Of all the plays that one can see in Stratford, Ontario, "La cage" would be exactly the one to see dressed.
Yes, really nervous inside. It would be a first for me...deliberately going out en femme to a really public event. (Closet door swinging wide here.... shudder shudder)
Flip side: I also know that SO and daughter support me 100%.

<nervous giggle and flushed cheeks here>

I will let everyone know what happens, and if there are pics to be had, I will post 'em.

    XOXO

    Jenny

Oh, what a perfectly vicious little brain loop.....

1 - no show better to dress up for
2 - feeling full-on fear at this "audacious move" on my part. I know I am capable of standing out this much...but ... anxious...
3 - angry at myself for not being already dressed....only 25 minutes to Showtime ...not enough time now
4 - sad at what feels like a missed opportunity now.

Wow, I am standing here, and have almost broken into tears a couple of times...

I have the guts for this...
Simultaneously, I feel so incredibly alone in this... (not the case, but I would be the only CD'er here, dressed)

Sorry girls. Pity party as coping mechanism. I'm okay.
(I will get dressed up later and show y'all what I had in mind for this)

    😞

I understand how you feel. I saw a production of La Cage in the Berkshires a few weeks back and was kicking myself for not dressing. Maybe my wife would have allowed me to be seen dressed in public with her just this once. Missed opportunity indeed.

I have a CD friend, who I first met here, and subsequently FtF who got a part as one of the "cagelles" in the community theatre play. Now that's brave. And talented. Singing and dancing was required.

When we lived up in Vegas my wife and I went to a performance of Diva's with Frank Marino. It was truly amazing. Afterwards the actor greated folks in the lobby.
Our eyes met and we exchanged some very knowing facial expressions. I really wanted to say, "Me too but, you get paid for it!"
Have a good time and just know you won't be alone.
I've waited so long for this time. Makeup is so frustrating. Shaking hands and I look so old. This was a mistake.
My new maid's outfit is cute. Sure fits tight.
And then I step into the bedroom and in the mirror, I see a beautiful woman looking back at me.
    Smile, Honey! You look fabulous!

I would have thought that this was the same as seeing 'The Rocky Horror Show' live on stage - it's the law that you have to go dressed up, and if you don't, then you will go to prison !

But oh well - there is always next time

If you have the support then there is no reason not to attend dressed.
As you said, it's the perfect opportunity to show off your femme side. These chances don't come every day. Carpe Diem!
