Chatting to a dear friend at our Lynx Ladies meeting last night reminded me I hadn?t shared my experience from earlier in the year.
Before going I had posed the question here, if anyone had experience of flying from UK to Italy as I was a tad nervous flying en femme but with male passport. I knew I could rely on the support of the other four people in our group as i had actually come out to them on our last holiday before covid.
I kept it low key, Leggings, cardigan, vest t-shirt & bralette so that hopefully wouldn?t trigger the scanners. I don?t wear forms, rather relying on what little I have.
At bag drop I couldn?t get the automatic machine to recognise my booking so had to approach the sole manned desk. All was fine, till looking at the passport he asked where is C______ . I said ?here?, simply removing my glasses and staring calmly but fixedly forward, and the agent was happy.
Later at the gate, where I was fretting more about having oversize carry on bag (their rules are rather draconian), I went through similar exchange, again successfully. Italian border control didn?t bat an eyelid.
Apart from a couple of ?sirs? from the Pension owner everyone was lovely, including being referred to as Signora in several restaurants. During the day I couldn?t wear my wig due to the helmet and managed this by donning a cheery Buff when we had a break. As there was no jacuzzi or pool I didn?t have to negotiate those problems. The return journey was uneventful. A thoroughly enjoyable week and a long held yearning fulfilled and another piece of the jigsaw placed successfully.
