    Did the dreams stop

I finally accepted who I was just a few years ago, in my early 60s. A Cd on the trans side of things, who would likely never transition. The thing is, I had had the same recurring dreams of becoming / being a girl, since I was at junior school. I realised the other day that those dreams have ceased, after 50+ years. I am interested to know if this has happened to others.

(Mods feel free to move this to CD, if you feel it fits better there)

There have been times when I've tried to stop dressing only to have the dreams come and taunt me. Most of the dreams are that I'm dressed somewhere, about to get caught. Only once have I had a dream where I was magically changed into a woman. I can't describe the joy I felt when I looked down at my perfect feminine body. I woke up crying. I'm kind of glad it was only that one time. It was a painful to return to reality.

    Hello,

I am a transgender woman, but not in an official transition.

I'm just allowing myself to post this because I experienced something similar to what Luminaire explained: 5 years ago I had a moment when I was fed up with thinking about transition or not, and I wanted to stop progressing in this direction. So I put a hold on cross-dressing and dedicated much more time to other subjects. And there was the COVID which made it very difficult to live as a woman when everyone was at home 24/7

Though I never really had had dreams before that that were clearly connected to my gender incongruence, and as I entered a new phase of my psychoanalysis with a new analyst specialized into the interpretation of dreams, there begun to appear lots of very frequent dreams where there were transgender people, me dressed as a woman, me being a woman, me being offered woman clothes, me being in a group of women, boys being dressed as women...

The topic was all over... Until some facts made me understand that I was really transgender, which did trigger the speed return of everything I had put a hold on 5 years ago...And the dreams stopped !!! So when I don't try to live as a woman, I'm doing it in my dreams...And if I'm doing it in my real life, this stops in my dreams...The unconscious really is fascinating!!!!

Thanks for reading this, all the best,

    Cheers,

    Rose

Jane, I constantly have dreams of being a woman but know that I'll never be more than a CD. I'm pretty sure that is pretty common here.

I don't think I ever had recurring dreams of crossdressing or becoming a woman. That is not to say that I didn't have fantasies just before falling asleep or just after awakening.

But, as my signature says, "I accept and celebrate both sides of me."

They say dreams are both desires and fears. Yes, I still occasionally have dreams. The ones in color are nice but more intense.

I think dreams are akin to an "Internet" search: The more you have the dream, the more it pops into your mind. The dream gets re-enforced and repeats itself. When I was a young child I had dreams that I was a young woman who was a victim of male violence. It was so pronounced that it arose to the conscious state of being. Other dreams related to military combat service lessened as I came to terms with the events around the cause of the dreams.

I've seldom dreamed that I was a woman, but I have had the recurring dream of being caught wearing female clothes; shoes, in particular. However, I think about it constantly, and many days I dress entirely in women's things which are not obviously female. This helps my raging dysphoria, as does dressing fully, and doing makeup, almost every night in my office. I have way too many clothes and way too much makeup and other beauty products and accessories.

Frankly, if I had my own breasts and vulva, I wouldn't need a large wardrobe and chemistry set; but when you go out as yourself, you need to present as many female cues as you can, for your own security. About fifteen years ago I went on HRT, and after two months my nipples grew tender, and I began developing breast tissue. I had to stop, though, as my life circumstances would not allow me to transition.

So for years I have led a double life, which can be comforting and consoling, but also exhausting and depressing. Another responder here suggested that when we're actually doing something in real life, we dream less about it. That makes sense to me.

I imagined I wanted to become a woman suddenly at age 50. Of course, that freaked me out!

I dealt with it completely alone for 10 years, Then, went looking for answers. Once I found cd.com some 25+ years ago, it took me less than a year to realize I was just a CD. And, all those thots of having breasts and vagina vanished over nite!

Jane I have the same outlook/age as to being a cd and no plans to transition. Fairly regularly I dream of being in an awkward situation where I am cross dressed to some extent in an inappropriate circumstance, but no-one seems to care - which is quite nice. We?ll see if they continue.

The majority dreams that I manage to recall are typically gobbledygook. The few that stand out were usually a reflection of my mind working through unresolved frustrations or conflicts. It?s not surprising that cross dressing figured in some of these dreams, usually addressing a concern like being caught or dealing with being out in a less than fully accepting situation.

I rarely dream any more in general and about crossdressing in particular. Do not know if it is because I have met or exceeded most of my dreams or not?

I've had dreams of becoming, or even always having been, a girl, ever since that's what I was told would eventually happen, when I was about seven years old. I'm now 68, and of course, it never happened. And no, the dreams don't stop. It's kind of like a lifetime drama TV series with cliffhangers, with teasers about the upcoming monumental change. 'Will he know when he becomes a she? Will anyone else notice? How will he, now 'she', adjust? Tune in next week! And now, a word from our sponsor, Super Dooper skin cream, to make your skin stay looking and feeling young forever (or at least until next episode)!

There's an addendum at post # 82 on that thread, too. It's about a ten minute read.
Why don't we understand our desire to dress, behave and feel like a girl? Because from childhood, boys are told that the worst possible thing we can be, is a sissy. This feeling is so ingrained into our psyche, that we will suppress any thoughts that connect us to being or wanting to be feminine, even to the point of creating separate personalities to assign those female feelings into.

Hi Jane, I turned 60 earlier this year. I think when you reach this age we often reflect. The dreams haven?t stopped for me. Realistically and practically I know I will never transition. I have to take into account the feelings of my wife of 32 yrs and 2 daughters. I can still enjoy playing dress up when the opportunity presents itself.

Indeed. But my underlying question was. Do they stop once you accept who you are and are content with that.

This is pretty much what I was thinking. Thanks for the reply Karen.
