    Panties to the Doctor?

    Hi ladies,

I'd love your perspectives here. I have two doctors appointments on Thursday - first to the dermatologist for my semi-annual check-up in the morning and a second to my internist for my annual well appointment in the afternoon. I have considered wearing panties to these appointments, something I've never done before.

For the dermatology appointment, the doctor is a 30-something year old female, who I have seen for about 5 years. About half the time I am asked to put on a paper gown for a full body scan (I suffer from vitiligo, which treatments can cause basil cell carcinomas). The internist is a 60-something year old man who I have seen for about 15 years. Again, about half the time I'm asked to put on a gown for a thorough screen. In short, I don't know what situation I'll find myself in in either case.

I've wanted to do this for a while, to just "be me." However, while I dress plenty, I'm in the closet, and I certainly don't want to put "my kink (though it's not really a kink, but not sure how to describe it)" on anyone outside who hasn't expressed a desire to be a part of it. I guess you could say that's true anytime I dress, but given the nature of this, it feels different. So, I'm back and forth. Do you have any thoughts or advice?

    Thanks in advance,
    Stephanie

And here is your answer, “ I'm in the closet, and I certainly don't want to put "my thing" on anyone outside who hasn't expressed a desire to be a part of it.”

Plain fact is doctors don't care, They have seen more than you know.
They have a job to do and will do it very professionally.

I wear plain white panties to the doctors, have never hear a word.
my sister's reply when I told her how I prefer to dress

"Everyone has there thing, all that matters is that you are happy, love what you do and who you do it with"

Interesting I have a DR appointment in 10 days also now you have me thinking about wearing a cute pair of my Bali panties with a small bow on the front. I say heck yeah panty up and put some thrill in your appointments.

I have thought about this quite a bit lately. My one fear is that this distraction could in fact detract from my medical care. I want my doctor to be 100% able to focus on any issue I might have. His or her thinking about my attire might cause them to lose some focus. Now I know it will be said that they are professionals and seen it all. But they are also human and subject to distraction. So I refrain and don?t bring them into my closeted world, as much as it might be fun, so to speak.

I am of mixed minds on this subject. If you (or I) were wearing panties or whatever, solely for a dopamine rush of revealing oneself, then it seems like an imposition. But where is that line. As you mentioned, each time we go out, we are to some extent putting our personal thing on those we encounter. I know I am uncomfortable with the thought that my behavior may be some sort of exhibitionism. There is that mixture of excitement (and apprehension) involved anytime one goes out in public. Is that exploitive? I suppose one could point towards other kinds of public presentation that are likely to provoke perhaps intentionally reaction from observers.

The question needs to focus on why you would want to do this. If its simply for the thrill, then I should advise against it. But it seems to go beyond that. You are presenting as a woman weekly as part of your real life. While there may be that dopamine boost involved, this is also a substantial part of who you are and want to be perceived of as a person. Going out gives you a chance to express this part of yourself.

When I started going out in public, I emphasized doing everyday things, like picking up the dry cleaning, grocery shopping and going to the bank, even things like brining my car in for service or repairs. the point was not to get a rush so much as it was to see just how comfortable I was with presenting as a woman routinely. And to see if I wanted to take it further. In the course of that process I did (and do) go to eye and medical exams fully en femme.

Ultimately, I end up at the point of asking does the provider need to know in order to provide care effectively. That includes both physical and psychological dimensions, even if you are not contemplating transition. If you are thinking of expanding your experience beyond evenings on the road, maybe consider coming out completely to your primary care provider. That is, just tell them and explain that in the future you may prefer to present as a woman at future appointments. That feels less exploitive that wearing panties on the odd chance that they might be noticed.

I had kept a couple of male briefs for that purpose. A couple of years ago, I was going to the DR and went to put them on, but the elastic was pretty much shot. So now I wear white panties for my DR visits. Never a comment from the DR.

I go to the doc & dermatologist wearing panties. I have done for years now, I don't have any male underwear in the house. My choice is mid rise bikinis, and for the dermatologist, the ONLY one who requires me to undress (but keep underwear on), and put a paper gown on, I usually chose a solid colour like grey or white. I can't understand the reasoning behind keeping underwear on, especially the dermatologist, she pulls my knickers down to see my butt anyway! LOL

I just choose Walmart brands like Fruit of the Loom or Hanes.

I've said many times here and elsewhere that you, and you alone, bear the consequences of your actions. Once done, you cannot walk it back. Sure, a medical provider probably has seen it all, but will it potentially change your relationship? Just pondering.

Well, coincidentally I have a Dr. appointment Thursday as well.
Since I've worn only panties for the last 20 years I suppose I really have no choice do I?
If you want to wear them and not appear too overt just wear a plain white cotton pair if you have them. If the styles you wear are more feminine in nature and you don't have any plain ones then put your concerns on the shelf for now and don't wear them to the appointment.

Drs have seen everything. So NBD. There should not even be a blink from them and the nurses.

While I'm a (mostly) closted crossdresser, I've worn my Hanes nylon briefs to my annual physical for a few years now. It's nice to underdress, and my doctor hasn't said anything about it. I don't think your doctor will care.

I have been to the emergency room twice while wearing panties. Nothing was said. The staff acted as if they didn't even notice.

Is it really that big of a deal? Are you making a mountain out of a molehill? You are not doing anything illegal. What about people that do to the doctor with tattoos all over their bodies? What about women that wear male underwear?

Go to Walmart and buy a pack of white cotton panties. The are less than $20 for a pack of 10. They are androgynous enough that no one will notice. I have no male underwear, and would refuse to wear them anywhere even if I did. I’ve been wearing white cotton panties to the doctor for years.
What do I do on days when I don't crossdress? I have no idea.

As with some others, I own NO MALE UNDERWEAR. My panties are bikini style, and that's what the various doctors/nurses see when necessary.

    We're talking panties here, right?
You're a beautiful woman, out 2-3 nights a week and sharing with us your stories....
You're probably wearing panties at work too, right?
So, go for it. Just be who you really are. Be confident.

Medical professionals are so busy and overworked I believe the last thing they are going to notice or care is what clothes anyone wears. Once at my annual I forgot I was wearing white panties - almost had a heart attack when I was undressing but had no option at that point. That part of the exam over in a second - I doubt she even noticed and sure she certainly couldn?t care.

Stephanie, when last I went to the dermatologist I wore boy shorts which are rather androgynous.

I too no longer own any male underwear, but I have some solid color no lace pairs that look like men's bikini briefs of the sort I used to wear. I pretty much only wear these to the doctor just in case, or if I'm going somewhere where I might be talked into jumping into a hottub with people who don't want to see me naked (they're pretty much the same coverage as a Speedo-type swim suit of the 80's.) The color isn't important, the lack of lace and flowery prints is. That way I can still enjoy the comfort and thrill of panties without subjecting anyone who might see them to an uncomfortable situation.
    Life is short

I have several pairs of "lady boxers" and "booty shorts" that are very similar to snug fitting boxers and boxer briefs. I usually wear those for appointments rather than a thong or anything lacy or frilly. That way I know but they don't. Lol
Life's too short to not be enjoyed! Live each day to the fullest!
