I chose my name, Stephanie, as the feminine of my male name, easy to guess? My mother named her first child after her father which was a boy. He is fourteen months older than me. She choose his middle name as the masculine of her mother; Stephen. So, my older brother's first name is her father's name and his middle name is the masculine of her mother's name. Really creative?
So, I came along and I was suppose to round out her conception of the perfect family: husband, wife, first born child a male, and second child a girl. Dad's sperm did not cooperate. Yep, you guessed it. My first name is my older brother's middle name. My middle name has nothing to do our family.
As written here before I was suppose to be a girl. To complicate things my parents did have a girl when I was twelve. So, let's name her Stephanie after our grandmother. So, my brother has my first name which is the feminine of my grandmother's name and my sister has my grandmother's name. My wife thinks this is weird.
So, when choosing a handle on this site, I figured I had first dibs on my grandmother's name; Stephanie. It honors my grandmother who I loved dearly, and not my sister.
Phoebe Reece is actually a fictitious female character in a series of comedy plays written by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jr. I portrayed Phoebe Reece in three of those plays when I was involved with an amateur drama group. She was a middle-aged, rather bossy woman, who had an attitude of "the show must go on" no matter what disaster she happened to be in the middle of. I got used to being called that name and it kind of fit my personality so I took it as my own.

Cynthia = moon
And a few other things.
What do I do on days when I don't crossdress? I have no idea.
I looked it up real quickly, and Sara means "princess."
I didn't pick the name for that, though.
I wanted the initials for my femme name to match my male ones, and I was also noodling around with numerology at time. In the end, I came up with Sara (no "H") for my first name and the odd spelling of "Lin" for my middle one.
For whatever reason, the name Sara just feels right to me - even if I don't usually feel like I'm very "princess-y."
My female name, DianeT, is short for Maria Lenora Uberschnitzel von Papadick und Mamastumpf. It means... no sorry it doesn't mean anything, I chose it randomly to stick to the site's apparent customs, and since Diane was already taken, I added a T which is short for Tyrannosaurus (but the female version of it as you probably guessed: a T-Queen).
I chose Verity as it reminds me to live my truth, or veritas. It helps me be honest about accepting my whole self, the masculine and the feminine. I like the whole me that embraces my girly side a lot better than the part me I was before.
Aroara or (aurora) means dawn after the goddess aurora who announced the coming of the sun I just now learned that
There was a television advert in the UK selling coffee, "Mellow Birds will make you smile", her name was Julie.
I am fussy about my coffee and my wife called me Julie.
Apparently Sophia means "wisdom" in Greek. I had no idea. Picked it because it sounded soft, gentle, and kind.
Ichigo Ichie...every interaction is once in a life time, unique, and should be cherished. Bring along your En Femme and live with joy.
Huh apparently ?Jenni? has a definition that wasn?t considered?
?A term used in Scots to refer to a man who is concerned with feminine matters??
Natasha = The name Natasha is a Russian name that means "born on Christmas Day" or "birthday of the Lord". It is a diminutive form of the Latin name Natalia.
that said. I am agnostic and have nothing to do with religion. Just love the sound of the name.
You laugh at me because I'm different. I laugh at you because your all the same
Like OrdinaryAverageGuy below, I did not have a femme name for decades, as I had no need for one. At one point, I was doing some writing and wanted a female pen name. Colleen is Irish for "girl," so I picked it for that reason.
It was only when I started going out dressed about 8 years ago that I started using Colleen as a name. As the OP said, "It's not very charming if you appear en femme and, when someone asks your name, you say Peter, Richard or John."
That led to an awkward moment about 6 years ago. I was at a mall and found a skirt at Macy's. I was going to visit some other stores, so I decided to pick up the skirt when I went through the Macy's heading back to my car. When I asked a sales associate to hold it for me, she asked what name to put on the bag. The name Colleen existed in my head, but I had hardly ever spoken it. I had a deer-in-the-headlights look for 8 or 10 seconds until I could stammer out "Colleen." I was so embarrassed; who doesn't know their own name?
If only our families and friends could be as supportive as our bras!

Joyce, according to Wikipedia, comes an old Breton word, judoc, meaning 'lord'. I didn't choose it. Once as a teenager I got the chance to dress in my sister's one piece swimsuit when alone and I went to look at myself in the full length mirror I became aware that Joyce was the name of the person looking back at me. So I'm Joyce.

Nothing special about my name, I just like it.
I chose Kimberly because these girls used to tease me by calling me that and so I adopted it
I chose Marie as my middle name because of my mother?s very fashionable friend. She was always nice to me and I kinda looked up to her as a female role model.
And cross because my wires got crossed somewhere duh
My full name is Verona Leia Lovelady.
My wife and friends call me Vee.
I gave myself the name of Verona because my wife named me Vee when I dressed en femme so I chose a name that began with V as I felt Vee was her pet name for me.
Leia is quite obvious, Princess Leia from Star Wars, I consider myself as a bit of a princess en femme lol.
Lovelady was the surname of an old school teacher of mine, I have always loved the name and how well mannered and proper he was. He was a gentleman and everyone held him in high regard.

Several years ago I considered a feminine version of John, Johanna. I rejected that idea, but those names are derived from the Hebrew Yohanan, which means Gift of God.

Abby means Fathers Joy. To put it in common wording, Daddy?s Little Girl. My adoption of the name has nothing to do with my relationship to my father. He knew nothing of my crossdressing. I was not his favorite among his fourteen offspring. I was not my mother?s favorite, either. Quite the opposite. Abby is the nickname that my wife and daughter gave me. All three of us enjoy the Mel Brooks movie, Young Frankenstein. Wife and daughter apply the name Abby to me in the exact way and the exact meaning that it is applied in that movie. It is their nickname for me in guy mode. They even found a tshirt for me with Abby written across the chest and Young Frankenstein written across the back. Rather than being ashamed of their use of the name, I decided to own it. And own it I do, with my special tshirt and with monogrammed jewelry for my femme wardrobe.
I respectfully disagree with your comment that a Crossdresser should have a femme name. Some of us prefer to wear the clothes without adopting a femme name. That was me until the owner of a crossdressing clothing store in Denver asked for my femme name for an appointment. I then decided it would be convenient to adopt a femme name. I tried a few names but I soon settled on Abby. Having a femme name, like the chosen name itself, is simply a personal preference.

Mine was given to me by my wife in one of the few times she has joined me in my dressing (and I don?t think she has since). I don?t recall the significance but the fact that she thought it important gave it to me means a lot.
My name (Jenni) came to me from some nice people at Coffee Bean. For a short while I had no idea what my name should be. I had been out in public just a few times. Always just trying my best to blend, and then I was asked my name for the order. OMG. What do i say now? My joke/fake name has always been Jimmy and for some reason I just blurted out ?Jimmy?. I?m standing there in full female clothes, total embarrassment, what did I just say? The worker responds ?okay, thank you Jenni?. I had an immediate feeling of acceptance and non-judgment. And ever sense I?m Jenni when enfemme. No idea what it means as at this point it doesn?t matter. I?m Jenni
April is my Birth Month and the name of the first girl I ever kissed. April stands for opening, or new beginning. Rose is my favorite flower.
I am a vessel of the goddess. Let me express my calling to a feminine life through nurturing love and relatedness.
My name is Margret given to me by my wife. When we would be playing around and I did something funny or goofy she would say "oh Margret"' When I really really began dressing Margret came into focus. Now for the rest of my name. Cynthia D Margret. I added the Cynthia for and Aunt I admire. D for dresser. In short it's CDMargret. A play on crossdresser and my given name by my wife. I have joined several sites that require first and last names and my email as well. cdmargret at aol.com is one. The name Margret comes from the Greek word margarites, which means "pearl". A pearl starts as a small grain of sand that over time grows into a pearl. Lot's of pressure and wear along the it's way. I just love it.
My name is a combination of my parents names. My dad was Chris and my mother is Tina. I had asked my mom years ago what I would?ve been named if I was a girl and she said it would have been Christina since I was a piece of both my parents. Ever since finding this out I made my femme name Christina. Easy option if you ask me. Lol
“Sirena” is the Spanish word for “mermaid,” and is peripherally related to my birth name.
