    A certain satisfaction...

In seeing a GG wearing a dress that you've got hanging in your wardrobe.

It's been warm here in the UK, 29c yesterday and while out in drab I saw a GG in a summer dress and it suddenly dawned on me that I have the same one. Of course that satisfaction is tinged with a little sadness of not being able to wear mine out in the sunshine. Oh well, life is what it is.

Helen, I had a similar experience. We went to dinner with some good friends recently and my friend?s wife was wearing a top identical to one I had. Even my wife recognized it and nudged me. I just smiled. We laughed about it on the way home. She commented the it looked nice on both of us. Fun.

Hmmm. Your post made me think, Helen. Altho, I have enuff fem outfits to fill a 55' semi truck, I can't recall seeing a woman wearing any of them!

Maybe they look different in them than I do?

I had a recent encounter with a salesperson in a kitchen supplies shop.
She had on a black top with puffy chiffon sleeves. I did admire it and told her how good it looked.
What I didn't tell her was I had the exact same thing at home.
It is a small world and the clothes shop has some great items which become popular.
You are bound to see thing that you have also bought.
I do hope I never see anyone wearing my red dress.

I had a woman coworker that often wore the same Payless heels I had. Hers in a much smaller size of course. When she wore those it made me quite jealous.

    This happened to me twice.

This was maybe 8-9 years ago. I have to say both the ladies looked better in the dress that each had chosen.

    Life is strange sometimes.

I have seen a coworker wearing a sweater that is exactly the same as one I have. I didn't say anything, but I did smile inside.

I had that happen about 15 years ago, I had a black dress that I had recently purchased
I stopped at a local coffee shop every day on the way to work. Well this one day as I walked
in I saw a woman in the shop that had the exact same dress on. I knew where she
    purchased it for sure.

She looked really good in it. I so wanted to comment, But just smiled as she walked by.
Little did she know I was laughing on the inside
my sister's reply when I told her how I prefer to dress

    Hi Helen.
    I had the opposite happen.
    I saw a woman at a restaurant wearing a top I had.
She looked awful having it look dirty and not coordinating with the rest of her outfit.
I actually could not wear the top again.

My wife handed down to me so many summer dresses and I will usually see them on other women. I must say the jealously kicks in wishing I was wearing my dress and enjoying a beautiful summer day. Just like yourself I do see many items on other women that I own and I must admit it does give me a good feeling.

Yes Helen I agree it is very satisfying the first time this happened to me I was at my company Christmas party and one our female VPs was wearing the same pink top with lacy trim that at the time was my favorite like Helen the feeling was really special the fun part was Im very close with this lady and when she hugged me I could not take my eyes off how cute that top looked on her. The second time was at a wedding with some friends the wife was wearing a new Tommy Hilfiger dress that just happened to be the same one I purchased a couple weeks prior.

I saw a young lady wearing a skirt, top and shoes that I had that was totally unmatched on me but, for some reason looked totally fabulous on her.
I've waited so long for this time. Makeup is so frustrating. Shaking hands and I look so old. This was a mistake.
My new maid's outfit is cute. Sure fits tight.
And then I step into the bedroom and in the mirror, I see a beautiful woman looking back at me.
    Smile, Honey! You look fabulous!

The other side of that would be to be attending the same function wearing the same dress!

I had a fun and somewhat related experience a few weeks ago.

I found a purse/bag I liked at a thrift store for $4. When I got to the checkout desk, the girl there looked at it, smiled, and said "That used to be mine!"

I had GG remark that she wished could fit into her Lily Pulitzer skirts. I wore one to a summer pot luck in Connecticut. Bright colored resort wear.

Yes, Michaela, not a function, just out and about. I was standing in a checkout line when a lady wearing the same jacket I was got in line behind me. She just smiled warmly and nodded.

One Thanksgiving a number of years ago, we went to my wife's cousin's house to have Thanksgiving dinner with the family. We get there and her cousin Suzie is wearing the same brown cowl neck sweater dress I had just bought with a egift card from an admirer. Made me feel happy to see that I had the same taste in clothes as a pretty GG. I did note that Suzue paired the dress with brown tights and cute booties. I wound up following her lead and getting brown tights. Still love that outfit Now if I could only find the strength to come out of the closet.

I can think of three such occurrences:
I bought some (kind of frumpy) shoes from Payless. They kind of looked like men's shoes. Later, I noticed a friend's wife was wearing those shoes. They looked more appropriate matched with her trousers than they would with a skirt (how I would have worn them normally).
I took a six-week sewing class at the local community college. I dressed pretty to the class each week. I wore a black and withe striped maxi skirt one night. The professor entered the room wearing the same skirt in gray and white stripes. That was awkward. I was thinner than her, but I think it looked better on her because she had womanly curves. I saw the realization on her face that we were wearing the same skirt. I tried to stay invisible in order to make it not be awkward for her in any way.
I was walking into the office and saw a woman wearing a dress that was very similar to one that I owned. We entered the building together and waited on an elevator together. When we both were in the elevator, I said, "I probably shouldn't say this, but I own that same dress." She smiled at me. I added, "I was interested to see how you styled it." She laughed and responded, "Well, you must have excellent tastes!" Then, I said "Good-bye," and got off on my floor. She said, "Have a good day!"
