For the first time I went out to a bar / nightclub dressed!
Thanks to the many posts about positive experiences out, I thought I should take the opportunity when it presented itself. I had an over night work trip to Edmonton and had looked to see if there were LGBTQ+ bars that I could visit and be comfortable. I found EVO / Evolution Wonderlounge to be be the place to go. It is a gay bar but as we know as they are generally a very positive place for us to express ourselves.
I have been planning this for a couple of weeks, debating what I could wear and what I needed to complete my appearance. Previously I have only ever gone out for late night walks in the dark so essentials, like a purse/handbag and jewelry were not essential. So I had to do some shopping to complete my look. As well, I have not gone out with full make-up before and planned on doing that for my night out so I needed to get me some make-up remover as I have borrowed my wife's the few times I have glammed up.
When the evening arrived and I checked in to the hotel, I was certainly excited and nervous thinking about the night ahead. Sadly, it was then than I noticed that I had forgotten to pack a few things, the necklace I had bought and my forms. Now I do not go big so they would have fit in my 'B' cups but I would have loved to have the added weight on my chest. I feel that I did my best make-up to date, although it was low key, it was definitely noticeable. I also did not wear a wig as I only have cheap ones that I think would make me more uncomfortable.
I was planning on leaving around 8:30 pm to hopefully arrive for a 9:00 entrance but excitement got the better of me and I was ready to go for 8:00. For those not familiar with Canada and when the sun sets this time of year, there is still daylight as late as 9:30 (and almost 11:00 at the summer soltice) so there was definitely going to be full light as I left the hotel. Speaking of which, I had to walk through, what had to have been the most well light lobby in the history of lobbies. I was prepared for that and not worried if spotted, as anyone who looked could see what they see and from what I have read, most people do not even really pay attention (FYI, it was empty but the two staff). As well, I left my boots in the truck of my car so I would not be quite so loud as I walked through the lobby. Got to my car, popped the trunk and put on my boots. Nothing quite like driving in heels! I also realized that I did not have any cash on me so had to stop at a drive up bank machine before hitting the club. Once I found a close spot to park, I took a deep breath and headed in.
It was Karaoke night at EVO which I think gave it an even more happy vibe. When I arrived I looked for an inconspicuous place to sit but the booths and table were all occupied so I found some couches along the front wall to sit. I was the only one on those so I think I did stand out but at no point did I feel stares or knowing glances. A server came up to me, introduced herself as Sophie and asked for my order, I got myself a Long Island Tea and enjoyed the Karaoke.
What I feel was pure magic is that the very first song that someone sang was Follow Your Arrow by Kacey Musgraves. This is absolutely one of my favourite songs. At one point I headed to the washroom just to touch up my lipstick. I had brought two, a very natural colour and a party red. I went with the red. I ended up staying for three drinks and about 90 minutes before deciding that I should head back to the hotel. Before leaving I had to settle up with Sophie and gave her a substantial tip. She was like are you sure you do not want any change. I replied that no, this is a special night for me as it is the first time I was out dressed like this (wish I didn't say like this). She said that is awesome and that I looked amazing. I was going to make some comment but could only muster a very happy thank you.
I did get a photo, not great while in the club and then another back at the hotel, but I did have my boots sadly as they were in the car. I will post those right away below.
I am still in shock that it happened but relieved that it went well and overjoyed that Mercedes got to get out of the house!
Thank to those who have got this far and Mercedes looks forward to her next trip up north.
Love Mercedes XOXOXO
P.S. If I can, so can you.
