Exclamation "I wonder what grandpa would look like with make up on?"

My youngest granddaughter, age 12, made that comment when we were out for a big family dinner celebrating the end of the school year. It was completely random and seemingly came out of no where!

I just smiled and let it go. Most everyone there except for her and my 14 y/o granddaughter know about my dressing. No one else commented either. But, her mom, my daughter, and my other daughter wondered about it later. Both had no idea why she said that?

I had no chance to ask her about it later because both her and her sister were taken by their dad to another state for the Summer. I guess I'll have 2 months to wonder about it?

    Sherry,

I would suspect that if the 14yo knows then that's the source of the leak. Young girls tend to share and while the 12yo might not as fully comprehend exactly what's being described she's somewhere in the ballpark of understanding.

Sherry, That may be less random than people think. Your granddaughter may have over heard a conversation not intended for her.

I think a lot of us are not as closeted as we think. I?ve always felt if I came out to anyone in my family they would not be completely shocked.

I think I am totally in the closet with my kids and grandkids. I really wonder if that is the case or if they have knowledge or suspicions. If they heard or saw something, you never know. Oh well.

I've told my story more than once about my son knowing years before I came out to him.

Little kids do not suffer from hearing loss. I suppose there were conversation that were thought to be totally private, but little ears heard and just absorbed and filed away some little tidbit. Then, days or weeks later, she is gazing at grandpa and that little tidbit just flows from her unfiltered brain. My wife, the retired teacher, always brought home stories of little kids blurting out some words that an adult would have not said.

While I think it's unlikely my completely self absorbed daughter EVER talks about me, period? I'm going to ask her next time we talk!
