Going for a night out with wife, and I am still waiting her?

I just had a small quiet chuckle to myself (and only myself) last night. Went out with my wife dressed to see a small jazz show (small club, holds about 40+ people). We went together in a different city (about 45 min away), so I knew she'd feel a bit more comfortable not running in to anyone we knew.

We had to have dinner at home because of logistics, and plan was to leave the house by 7pm. I started getting myself ready at 6pm. I figured it would take me a solid hour, and if we left at 7:15p because I was not ready yet, no big deal. I look at the time in the middle of makeup, and it is 6:30pm (great.. on pace). However, I am actually all ready by 6:45pm. My wife is still not ready, and I am waiting on her (just like always)... Once I want her to wait on me

We left at about 7:10p or so. She did say one of the reasons she was late was because she could not get one of our free-range chickens back in the coop. She knew I was already in the middle of getting dressed, and had to do it herself. I did feel bad for that (and appreciative of course).

Anyway a nice evening at a "regular" club. I felt slightly overdressed, but not "horribly overdressed". Most of the women were in jeans, including my wife, but she was in stylish "baggy" jeans. About 1/2 of men were in cargo shorts (even in boy mode, I am not wearing shorts to a club like this...., come on guys).

I felt really good in the summer style, rose-laced/long sleeve blouse, black skirt (just below the knee), black heels, and my newly shaven legs (no time for waxing, so I had do take care of the hair the old fashioned way).

Sounds to me like you were very much appropriately dressed. I feel that anytime someone is going out for an event, male or female, it is a time to get away from the everyday and put on something that elevates your appearance. I just wish I got to go out dressed for anything. I am very happy for you that you get to go out with your spouse.

Totally agree on the elevation of clothing to go out. This weekend we actually have two shows. Tonight we are going to see a musical at our local Performing Arts Center (nice theatre for traveling Broadway and other concerts). Any, I am back in male mode, but recently bought a male flowered shirt. I am pairing it with some new pants, and feel really good about my attire for tonight as well. I just realized... I am not sure I have shoes/sneakers to match???

    Nice post, Jaybird.

And, your wife gives new meaning to the phrase, "Chickened out!"
