    Embarrassing Visit to Dermatologist

I've been seeing a dermatologist for a few years now to check up on some melanoma issues. In the past he has only looked at my upper body. This time was different.
When the assistant took me to the exam room, she told me he wanted me stripped down to my underwear. Big oops. This day I'm wearing black bikini panties with white lace trim. I'm also tucked and completely shaved from the waist down. To say I was freaking out would be an understatement, but I stripped down. If he was shocked he didn't show it. He did the exam and we made small talk as usual. I don't know how I made it through the exam, but I did. When I left my head was spinning. Now that I've had some time to think about it I'm wondering if I shouldn't just do it again. I'm not sure at this point.

I think you're making wayyyyyy too big a deal of it. Pretty sure he or she is not the least interested in your underwear

I learned along time ago to never wear women's clothing to any medical appointment or procedure, if I want to hide wearing anything feminine. Once, as a teenager, I applied for a summer job with UPS that required a medical exam. In the morning I had worn my mother's overly tight open bottom girdle which left deep impressions of the seams on my butt. I kneaded and kneaded my butt trying to get rid of those lines. I don't know, if they disappeared by the time I got to the exam, but I did not get the job. Save those Jockey shorts for the special male attire occasions.

By all means, do it again.
What do I do on days when I don't crossdress? I have no idea.

The only thing you should worry about is if the doctor is a good one.

I had melanomas removed and I get the once over every 6 months by the surgeon. I showed up with painted toes and he didn't care. I also shave my arms and legs and he didn't care (nor does my normal dermatologist).

I'm sure they have seen everything.

Somewhat similar experience although to a lesser extent, I had an dermatology exam this Weds and was nervous that my chest hair shaving would get some comment or question - of course it didn't and the Dr. was nothing but pleasant and professional. I know worrying about these things are all in my own head.

Perhaps you have heard of this study: 24 radiologists to perform a familiar lung nodule detection task. A gorilla, 48 times larger than the average nodule, was inserted in the last case. 83% of radiologists did not see the gorilla.
Doctors see what we are looking for (hopefully any curious moles in your case) and not things that are irrelevant to them. As significant as your black panties may have been to you, they were irrelevant to your physician.

The doctor is a professional and acted as such.
All the confusion is in our minds. Dress how you please.

I completely forgot I was wearing panties at an annual physical appt a couple years ago. Of course not a problem except in my head. I’ve had a lot of derm appt.s lately - I’m pretty much completely shaved and it does not worry me. I almost went to one with toenails painted but chickened out and removed it the night before.

That is probably not as bad as me because I went to the derm with a suntan except for my boobs which were Snow White with a triangle pattern. That did not concern him, but he did not like that I had been out in the sun so much.

I don't and won't wear anything femme to a doctor's visit. Main reason; I like my blood pressure readings how they are

Nevertheless; I did have a health emergency recently, and while I am far from certain I'm fairly sure that I still had impressions on my skin of the bra I'd worn overnight. Oh well. Seems they handled me just fine and I lived.

It's true; medical staff have seen it all. An otherwise good XY patient is unlikely to draw any negative consequences from wearing panties. But, I want to be treated as a person, and not receive any bias in my treatment. So, I present male for any doctor's visits just to be certain.

I intentionally wore a pair of simple black women's bikinis and painted toenails to my last dermatologist appt. The bikinis were not obviously women's panties and I felt no embarrassment as the PA did the full body scan. She did stop short on seeing my toenails with a subtle pink gloss and said "Nice polish" and I just said "Thank you".

I didn't wear the panties for any reason other than that's what I wear daily. I didn't paint my nails for the appt, but didn't want to have to redo them so just went with it.

I did have an unexpected ECG at my cardiologist and had to excuse myself to the restroom to remove my bra. My wife was in the room when the nurse did the ECG and her eyes went wide open when she saw the outline of the bra on my chest. The nurse didn't flinch but probably had a bit to talk about at break. I wouldn't do that on purpose, but it wasn't a big deal.

A dermatologist asking you to take your pants down is probably interested to check your privates and the area behind. Tucking is certainly not a good idea if it gets in the way of the examination.

About fifteen years ago, I had to get an MRI. It was shortly after I got a new piercing. I already had three piercings and this was one more. MRI requires all metal to be removed. I took out the jewelry and no one noticed the piercings. Getting the jewelry back in was tricky with a piercing not fully healed. It reinjured the piercing. That stretched a six week healing time to more than six months. It finally did heal. I still have eight of my twelve piercings including that fourth one. None are visible when I am fully dressed, femme or drab. I now leave the piercings in for medical appointments. Medical people have noticed but never commented.

The only trouble that I have encountered with my piercings was in drab at the hands, literally, of the TSA. I now avoid the two airports where they did that (DCA and Spokane) with no further problems since.

I also made that mistake but for me it was with a blood test appointment. When I got there they told me the doctor called and wanted me to do a cardiogram. I didn't see a problem thinking they were just going to stick those wires on my chest and I didn't realize they put one on your ankle. When she lifted my pants at the ankles she asked me if it was alright to stick it on my pantyhose or do I want to remove them and that she was not responsible if the pantyhose get ruined. I told her to go ahead with embarrassment and felt my heart beating through my chest and have no idea how the machine didn't blow up. I guess they see stuff like this more, then we think

I had Mohs surgery on my face earlier this year. After that was completed and I had 2 checkups by the surgeon's assistant, Im was scheduled for a visit with the dermatologist who took the original biopsies. I figured it was just another follow-up. Wrong. The same thing happened to me. I was told to strip down to my underwear, place the sheet over me, and she would do a complete body check for other signs of cancer. Well, I only have lace panties so that's what I was wearing. She lowered the waist slightly on the front and back while checking so it's obvious she saw my panties. As mentioned on my thread about that experience, when I go in for another body check in 12 days my only question is which color and style of lace panties to wear. I'm leaning toward either the pink or purple hipsters, but I recently got some pink panties with open sides & laces that I really like. It's not a matter of what underwear I'll have on as lace panties is my only option. It's just a matter of which ones. Decisions are so tough to make. I also had my toenails with polish on them. It was a subtle pink. The only thing I'd like to change is to have a professional pedicure done for my next visit, but that won't happen. I'll go with pink toenails again and probably match them with pink panties.

Doctors have seen everything, it takes a lot to faze them. I've gone dressed to all my doctors and dentist appointments as well as for a day surgery procedure in a hospital. Everything has been fine with most being respectful towards me, even had a few funny moments with a doctor and/or office staff.

I'm sure it was very embarrassing, but, he has seen you and stayed professional, obviously knows now that you crossdress, at least you were tucked or it could have been so much more uncomfortable. It's probably not the first time he has seen this. The cats out of the bag now, so, if I were you I would do it again, just make sure your panties aren't too revealing and obviously tuck again.

Hmm, I think I may have said no thanks that would make me uncomfortable they would have been fine with that.

Now to me. I go every year for a full body check with shaved chest and legs, they pay no attention I’ll guess they see all kinds of what some would feel is strange things.

I would not worry about underwear.

In the UK if you need a wig on medical grounds.

The referral from the doctor will sometimes be to the Dermatology department

I get it’s upsetting to you but it really is not a big deal to them .

I agree and believe Drs. have seen most everything. I often wear a bra and thigh highs. Before a visit to my dermatologist, I worried if skin marks showed on my skin. Nothing was said, but it caused a little increase in the heart beat.
