    make up too ugly?

As I have an appointment to soon get a make over. I was thinking about how a guy can walk through the cosmetics yet is never given a hello, or sample of xyz. I'm sure after getting a makeover some people will stare at me, heck I'll probably get stares sitting there, then I thought...

Why don't women get stares, or odd looks when they shop for cosmetics. Let's be real here, there are some pretty ugly women out there. Ugly women aren't ignored browsing at cosmetics. And not matter how ugly they are, they don't get odd looks.

Can you imagine some women at cosmetic counter getting a "sorry mam, no cosmetics will work for you, your too ugly." Ok not that blunt but, let's face it, no matter how ugly she is, she will get all the help she needs. Heck, I can't look that bad in makeup, cause there are some real ugly women out there.

Honey, the ladies who work at cosmetic counters in dept stores wouldn't care if The Medusa showed up. They'd compliment her on her "hair" and sell her anything she wanted. They don't care about how you look, they care about their commission.
Last spring I was at the macy counter getting a makeover and a lady walked by and said in a somewhat sarcastic manner "you look lovely" I turned to her and said "come back in 15 minutes when I have my wig on and I'll look beautiful" the girl who was doing my makeup laughed so hard at that she almost stabbed me in the eye with the mascara brush.

It's all in the BELIEF of makeup. If I feel pretty then I AM pretty.

You too will get all the help you need if you take the time to visit a cosmetics counter. The SA there are very concerned about making a living. They do that by selling stuff to you. To do that they will compliment you to the moon. If you buy something you will be their friend for life and you will be welcomed back every time you go. And really, here is the best part, most of them know a bit about what they are doing, so if you spend some time there you will learn things about makeup. Man, woman, they don't care, just buy something.

Was it WC Feilds or Barnum and Bailey ( of the circus ) who said a sucker is born every minute?
The SA's would never chide a woman on her beauty or lack there of.
They have that old saying in the back of the sales mindset they are in.

No hello? Maybe they're just rude?
Because their market is 99% female. Why would they waste their samples on a man? They could just throw them away.
Women don't get stares because it's the norm. A man at a cosmetic counter is an unusual occurance. Ever been in a gaper block on a highway? Same thing.

Origonally it was a joke between my wife and I. Sorry mam, your too ugly for makeup. Of course I do more than my fair share of complaining. Perhaps I just think too much. I guess I have a couple of points. One, makeup can't look that bad on guys. Two, it's unlikely genetics determine if one likes makeup or not. Third, I'm complaining a bit. I guess all I want is to be respected the same respect women are. Women are not looked down on for wearing makeup, so why should I. People just assume a women wears makeup because she likes the color/look whatever. Why can't they make that same assumption for me?

I have no idea what a gaper is. If I see samples handed out I usually make a point to get one. For instance, when waking through the store and they hand the wife one and not me, I usually ask, why didn't you give me a sample? They usually say it's for women, to which my responce is, What? I'm not good enough?

A gaper block is when there is an auto accident in the opposite direction in which you are travelling. It should have no impact on your commute. However, people traveling your direction have to slow down and gape at the scene causing another traffic jam. It's human nature I suppose. I say just keep driving and pay attention to what you're doing. Similarly, I couldn't care less who was at a makeup counter with me.

Like Sophia said, they are geared towards women. I have walked by those counters many time in drab and I might get a smile from an SA, but that's it. I walked by those counters one time all dressed up and I was nearly attacked by the SA's. That's life.

You moan we can wear what we like, you whinge about this that and the other.... and now your complaining that ugly women get attention..... what is it with you?? do you post these types of threads because you don't get enough attention???

I hate to break it to you, but the reason they don't make that assumption about you is, hold your breath, YOU'RE NOT A WOMAN, YOU'RE A MAN! unless you are enfemme and then, maybe you are too ugly for makeup seriously, think abnout real issues between men and women. for example: domestic violence happens to women (mostly) whether or not they are beautiful or ugly. so do rapes. and many times the victim is reviled because "She was asking for it" perhaps by wearing makeup? dude, get over it. you're a guy in a women's sectioon of the store.. go enfemme, then see what happens. :2c:

Oh I dunno.... perhaps I would like to be treated with the same dignity and repect gg's get. I guess I find it upsetting that my gender does allow me such. I don't think there is a person on the planet that likes to be treated differently because of genetics.

don't do the web stats as general rule, because for every one that says that women are more aggressive there are countless others, including the national institute of health that debunk that. so, no arguement about treating others with respect. our culture treats men like men and women like women. how they present. we are not yet at the point where everyone is treated with respect.

I've been to the cosmetic counter buying products in drab. They don't care. If they pull out a trowel you might be at the wrong counter. But they were nice to me.

They are in business to sell things. Women buy most of the cosmetics, men hardly ever buy. The lady at the counter is not going to stop you as you walk by and ask if you would like to try a new lipstick. If you go to the counter and ask for help most of the time they will be very happy to make a sale.

No problem with being "ugly" I just simply treat the salesladies with the same respect that I would ask of them. If I'm not beautiful, but I don't believe in being mean and unpleasant to someone who is at their job.

Well, I think you are in the minority then, because of all the members here, you're the only one constantly complaining you are treated differently. What would you like sales ladies to do??? jump out at you and ask if you would like some makeup??

Seems to me, you actually have no respect for GG's, so why would they have any respect for you??? You've shown none here, that's for sure. You've not posted any support to the GG's that come here and ask for it..... but you want respect on a platter.... go figure...

I would like to be treated like any other gg walking through the store. Or perhaps not get stared at by GG's when minding my own business.

Perhaps if they showed respect for me, they would get respect in return. I have posted some GG support, not often though. I guess my thinking is off that all people are equal and should be treated equal.

But you're *not* a GG! Sheesh, unless you're dressed enfemme I see no earthly reason why SA's would offer you perfume samples, etc.

Noname, from my perspective you've got some really *serious* issues with genetic females. Perhaps if you did some soul searching to find the root of those issues life would be much happier and simple for you.
