Have you been seen by someone you know in public?

I have always wondered what would happen if we were out in public dressed and saw a client, friend, neighbor, or co-worker at the mall or somewhere else. Would we be recognized? Would they notice us? Would the person we knew say anything to us or just ignore the situation?

Tell all of the horror stories and all the details.

I've never experienced this, but I can say that I rarely see anyone while I'm out about in guy mode anyway, and doubt they would notice me as Ashley if I did see someone.

It's actually pretty safe, I'm not afraid because most people aren't "looking" for you as a female in a dress/wig etc

They'll see you and see a girl, not you as a guy in girls clothing.

Unless it's family, but then it's hard unless they look at you longer..

Security @ my building seen me alot and whoever lives in the building, but I doubt they can connect me and my male self.. I purposely do different stuff like wear glasses and walk differently and wear different rings. If anything they might think it's a sibling.. but who cares? What's the big deal anyways, like it's a crime?

Only thing remotely bad is they think you're strange, so like most people don't have their share of skeletons in the closet or weird quirks?

That has happened to me a few times this year and in each case I've never been recognized.

The last I came across someone was a little over a month ago when I was at a Target that I go to on occasion.
I don't usually expect to see anyone I know shop there, but on this particular day I had a close encounter of the third kind.

I was there walking down one of the main isles and out of nowhere a long time family friend of over 20 years, and her husband, suddenly came out from the side of another isle and I almost ran into her. We looked at each other with that typical split second glance and then she turned her head, as if it was nothing, looked back and just continued whatever conversation she was having with her husband.
After that, I just kept on walking and never looked back.

I saw them again getting some coffee at the little coffee shop in the front, as I was checking out. After I paid, I walked by them and they never looked at me or said a word.

Again, I've known this girl for over 20 years and my folks and her folks have known each other for well over 40 years. If she had recognized me, I know she would've come up and said something, but she never didn't.
I rarely get nervous when I'm out these days, but that was the first time in a long time I felt a little nervousness.

After that encounter, I called my GG friend to tell her about it and she said that she had no doubt I wouldn't get recognized because I do my makeup very well and present myself very well.
To hear that from her speaks volumes because it reassures me that I'm doing all the right things.

    Hugs!

I love to see a beautiful woman in a nice dress, but then again, I also want to wear that dress.

Not too long after my second divorce, I was out at the mall shopping dressed with my roommate and low and behold there was my ex-wife. We walked right past her and I know she saw us but didn't bat a eye, just kept on walking.
Then there was the time my ex came to my house and saw a glamour picture of me on the wall and asked who that was. She had no clue. I just told her it was my aunt, but later fessed up. She was surprised to say the least. Wish I still had those pics to post , but my present wife burned them all.

My first time properly out in public was to the local Womens comedy festival.

The person selling tickets was someone I knew that was on my Fine Arts course years ago.

Then just inside even though i was slightly late and the lights were down someone Instantly recognised me and sat down next to me saying hi!

Then during intermission after meetin several of the comedians backstage and having a book signed by one I met a friends mother after she spent several minutes trying to decide if it was me and came up to ask if I was me or related to me lol who complimented me on my look.

That whole night was totally positive.

I've only gone out on Halloween in my little town and have been recognised by quite a few people and have heard about it for a couple months. In the city I have never seen anyone I know while dressed but have been seen a few times buying women's clothes, but nothing was ever said.

Very few people do not recognize me, or so it feels like. I've had quite a number of people recognize me -- people who were seeing me Dressed for the first time, with full wig and different glasses and a dress and makeup... and they recognized me from across the room (20 to 100 feet away), often coming over to say hello.

I keep saying that "Maybe it's my nose", but I really don't know. Another clue is that cab drivers usually "Sir" me no matter how I'm dressed... before I've even said anything. No I don't have a "strong chin" or distinguishing scars or anything like that, and in photos where I have my glasses off and I'm a bit tired, I look remarkably like my mother so it isn't that I have a really male face. And it isn't even like "You look like someone I know" -- I somehow manage to run into the kind of people who take one glance at me and can tell me where and a pretty close approximation of when we last met.

Some of our local club members look stunning, and some of them that I think have a more male face than I do get routinely accepted (some of them have gone 24/7 except perhaps at work), so it isn't any one thing, but I get routinely recognized.

I have definitely been seen and easily recognized while fully dressed, by my next-door neighbour, in a context in which we had no reason to expect to see each other. They've been cool about it; both of them have since seen me dressed (e.g., both going out our doors at the same time), and they've continued to treat met the same (which is to say that he is cordially friendly to me, and she doesn't talk much to me... which she never did anyhow, no change at all.)

I doubt anyone would recognize me. I'm pretty certain I could sit at a table with my own family in a restaurant and have dinner with them and they'd never recognize me... so long as I did not speak.

I haven't ventured out into public yet, but when I do, I am not worried about being recognized at all. Maybe worried about being read, but not recognized.

My wife knew from the begining that I crossedressed, one of her friends saw me at a club and told her. we were engaged at the time and we had a big fight. In the end I said I would stop (yea right!!) One day she was looking through my picture albums, which I had a lot and she started pulling pictures out and had burned them, another fight, but she said that was all in the past and I could take new pics with her (minus the dressing of course.) I should of known then that this was bad carma and should have stopped the engagement, but I guess I was in love at the time and didn't. Thought I could change her mind about it. Didn't happen to this day. So I'm back in the closet for now. My ex-roommate has some of the pictures but have not been able to find her. I regret the whole situation that I got myself into, I had some great pictures. This is when I had my own hair down to my waist. If I can ever find a picture of me then I'll post it.

I don't understand how anyone can live with someone who doesn't accept them for who they are. If I were in that type of relationship I would have to move on. Lifes too short to live in misery. I'm 62 and believe Me it goes fast.

The only time anyone has seen me out dressed fem was at Hallowen on 2 occasions, and all my coworkers saw me then. I do shop for clothes dressed drab, and on occasion have seen someone I know, but usually not so close as to make me uncomfortable with continuing to shop.

I was shopping in drag of course at a local discount store. I had grabbed a dress to try on, walk to the changing room which is down a small hallway.

I looked sideways into a stockroom, and I saw her. A mom from a scout group. She obviously was hidding from me. I ran out and calmed down and told my self that I had not seen her.

Went shopping into a different part of the store, and then saw her again, we made brief eye contact, and then I ran out of the store, kinda freakin out.

Now, she is a cool, kinda hot, single mom, great person, who I have even spend a whole week in the bush with (scouts). Hey im pretty freindly with her, we hug all the time. its platonic.

I have seen her at drop off and pick up with scounts a few times a she quipped a few jokes that i think are cd related.

Im pretty sure shes knows,, i would like to come out to her,, what you all think.
    thanks for listening.

I joined some friends in Soho, after they'd told me they'd met a couple of genetic women and gone to a restaurant..

When I arrived, I recognised them straightaway - I'd worked with the two girls for five years, one did my company induction (two weeks of working together, one-to-one). Over a period of four hours and at a range often of 18" or less, neither of them recognised me as the man they'd known?

I had a neighbour approach me in a different town and ask me if I knew where the public car park was.
I was slightly panicked as I saw her come towards me as I thought she had recognised me.
In the end I just pointed towards the car park and mumbled in a higher voice.
She thanked me and walked away. I don't think she did make me out as she has never ever said anything about it.

Not that I am aware of - however one time at a reunion, I wore some green

lacey panties under some very thin white shorts and we were out in the sun

and I think maybe you could see them through the white shorts

I do think an ex-lady friend had passed me on the road one time and one of my female neighbors has seen me once upon a time.
I do like going for a drive now and then but I try to limit it to the evenings as I drive a big pickup truck and that alone would give me away.

As many of you know, since my darling wife passed away 4 years ago, I go out dressed but looking like a man! No wig and no, or very little, makeup! About this time last year I was standing in line to renew my auto tags when my next door neighbor tapped me on the shoulder. He was in line right behind me. Of course, as usual, I was totally dressed as Stephanie. He never said a word about my skirt or tight top! We just had a nice conversation. He still has never said a word about my clothes. Of course, in nice weather I do walk in our subdivision wearing a skort and tank top, with a bra under the tank! Been doing that for years. So seeing me in a skirt was probably not really surprising to him.

About five years ago (on halloween night) my neice wanted to take me to the casino where she worked. It was in Kansas, and a damn cold night it was, about 25 degrees, the wind blowing about 15 - 20 miles an hour. mind you that I love the feel of a breeze blowing up under my skirt but damn that was cold. LOVED every second of it..... Any way, we got there about 5pm, went into the restaurant that she worked as a waitress, I was introduced to everyone there that she knew including some of the regulars, as a friend from K.C. While there I was doing a bit of the gaming on a one armed bandit, and darn it I HIT THE $4000.00 jackpot, which requires a cash payout, which hapened to be done by one man I had known all of my life and two security persons, one female, that I have known for a long time. a few i was introduced to recognized me fairly quickly but the one I thought would know me right off the bat (the guy doing the payout), when he looked at my ID, he looked at me and said I know this guy and you ain't,,,,,, HOLLY SHIT, WHAT THE F**&!!!! WE HAD THE LAUGH OF A LIFETIME, then by the time I was paraded around the casino, I think everyone in there had seen me.
That was the very first time I had ever been in public dressed and IT WILL DEFINTELY take some doing to beat that night. OH questions about bath romms? I was escourted into the ladys room by one of the female security guards, she stood outside the stall while I did my business and then we went back to the floor.
No these are not womens clothes!! THEY ARE MINE, EVEN THE HEELS. (update 4/01/10) THEY ARE NOW ! ! !

That's a pretty tough call, Roberta. What makes you think the jokes are "CD related"?

While enfemme at a musical play I was sitting on a bench waiting for my wife to go to the restroom. Out of my left eye I see my business partner of 14 years and his wife and daughter. They walked passed me and did smile as they walked to the entrance of the women's restroom. The wife and daughter did talk with my wife in the restroom and asked where Mel was. She said that he is probably outside on the balcony having a smoke. Several days later the man called and said he missed seeing me and had really wanted to talk with me that night Now this man is transphobic - one reason that he is my ex-business partner.
