At work that is kind of what I am...at least with the four guys I work with.

I think in the last 3 months, since going full time, I've heard my name used by them only 3 or 4 times. Otherwise they never say it. Which gives me kind of a weird feeling, I mean all the time that we spend together working, and that we have all worked together for so many years and that we do have to communicate and all, but I have become something - well kinda like I'm the one who cannot be named.

Sometimes it makes me sad and other times, like this morning, it makes me laugh. It can actually be rather amusing some days. I make them so freaking uncomfortable, I feel it, its all over their faces, and they still can't get their minds around it.

On the brighter side, my boss has been trying to use my name, I've even overheard him refer to me as she a couple times :)

three months isn't very long. It takes time for people to adjust to changes. That doesn't mean that it will get better. At least your boss is making a positive example.

Unfortunately some may never grow comfortable with your transition, but at least they aren't rude or insulting.

I had exactly the same issue when I began my transition.

I worked in a factory for 10 years, was the Senior Trade Union Representative for 3 of them. I could never have my breaks in peace what with someone wanting my help. I then told the world who and what I was. Overnight things changed I was still in the same position, I only came out as a crossdresser 24/7. Suddenly I was a pyriah (sp), I stayed there for another 2 years, but very little changed.

If people have known you for a long time as HIM/HE they will find it difficult to adjust.

a pyriah (sp)

Nigella, you are close and made a reasonable attempt at a word not used often. It is spelled "pariah."

I'm responding only because it seems to me you asked to confirm the spelling. Although I'm an editor, I normally let misspelled words go in any online forum; if someone hasn't asked to have their writing corrected, they may well resent such a comment as needlessly rude.

It has been 9 months since I came out and went full time at work. There are still a few who are not comfortable with me. Most do use my name tho. And I still get a thrill whenever I hear it from someone that didn't would not use it at first.

Hi,

That is rather strange for me as when i told people my name was a bit different allmost every one changed & used my name the day after from noel to noeleena. so was not a prob,

Jos will use noel & some close friends & i expected that, those iv worked with & people iv been in business with all did the same .
They had no hesitaion at all & friends going back 55 years all did the same thing.

...noeleena...
