A couple of days after I came out to my girlfriend as a crossdresser I had a dream. In that dream I was in a hall and I was looking for a meeting. In every room I looked inside were people that recognized me as "Gloria" and then I realized I was dressed as a woman.

When I woke up, I knew that was gonna be my female name. So in a way, it came to me in a dream :)

Renée was the name that came attached to a young lady I was friends with in HS. Theresa came from a suggestion of a TS friend of mine. The "surname" Davidson came from the fact I ride a Harley in male mode, though not for some time as it is in need of repair.

Robin was the name of a girl who sat next to me in middle school. I always envious of how perfect her makeup was. In particular, her eyelashes were long, thick and ultra feminine. I just wanted to be her.

I really enjoy reading this thread about how we pick our names, everyone has their own good reason.

Shelly,
Back in 2013 when I joined I hadn't thought of a name being a closet dresser but when I signed up I had to make a choice , I don't like my full male name but used it for thirty years for my business , anyway I typed in Teresa and the forum accepted it so now I had a recognised femme name based on my real name .

It turned out to be a great coincidence because I'm now using the shortened form in some cases so Terry easily becomes Terri , some of my post is now arriving using that name but the useful part is my initials have remained the same T J H....... luckily my second name also goes from male to female easily . If and when I do change formally I have reduced changeover problems .

karoliina_j
04-04-2019, 11:39 AM
I picked Karoliina because I have Finnish roots and was lucky enough to visit Helsinki this past fall. I did a search for popular Finnish names and wanted something that at least started with the same sound as my male name, so I chose Karoliina. Plus, it has the bonus of meaning "Free Woman," so it is fitting since that is how I feel when I dress.

So when it came time for me to choose my name i picked the name i would have been given. Moms gone now so she dosnt know but she did get the Linda she wanted. Just took awhile for her to show up.

That's so sweet!!!

I choose Phyliss as it was the name of the first girl I had a crush on.

(- - snip - -) Plus, it has the bonus of meaning "Free Woman," ( - - Snip - - )

Clever. I like the name too. Did you know that a "free woman' was also called a "lose woman". "Lady of the evening" AKA "prostitute". I know you sure aren't that type of woman, but the thought passed through my mind. Mine Leslie is Scottish and means "Like a plant"

Lara A
04-24-2019, 01:38 PM
I have been Laura for the 50 odd years since I had Laura as my first 'proper' girlfriend. When I say proper, I mean at age 12 or 13, she was the first girl I really noticed as being a girl! In classes at school when I was bored, often, I would trace out her name from the letters on whatever text book I was reading at the time, to see how many times I could create her name on each page... pretty obsessive! I always loved the name, and it became 'mine' when the internet and having a feminine persona became the thing to do :) I had really thought of myself as Laura long before that however, so I guess I was ahead of my time!
I recently became Lara when I purged a lot of my online material after a cancer diagnosis, and the threat of mortality hit me. Lara is a new name but same old Laura :)

My femme name is the female version of my name, kind of obvious really, but I am used to it now.

Having read so many of these I still have no clue how I settled on Abigail. Never known one. Doesn't relate to anyone I've ever known, famous or personal.
So I've been begging of myself why Abbie?
There are many female varients of my male name. Although Chrysta was one that only occurred to me recently. That MIGHT have been good. Who'd not want to be Chrysta Bell. Can't believe that cow's only 7 years younger than male me. (Abbie's 5 years junior to male me. That's a lot of makeup. Lol)
My wife says she'll never call me Abigail, that's fine. I can't argue against her objections saying 'I'm still the man you married' then expect her to yell 'Abbie' when she needs her meds! She also complains it's close to my daughter's name. The 21 year old I haven't seen in 12 years. Hmm.
So again why Abigail? Still no idea but it has stuck and it feels right somehow. Karmic, were I to believe in such a thing.
Besides too many people know Abbie now!

I'm Sarah, mostly because I thinks it's soft and feminine, and my male name, Scott, is kind of hard sounding. It just felt right from the start.

05-11-2019, 04:07 AM
Well my dad told me when I was young if I had been born a girl my name would have been Susan. I ask him why that name he said he was out working one day and saw a really bad auto wreck. Well he stopped to help and I think actually helped to save the couples life. Turns out they became life long friends plus af the time my mom was pregnant with me. He told his new friend if I was born as a girl he’d name me after the name of their flower shop they owned, named of course Susan’s florist on Preston highway in Louisville, KY

rhoda
05-11-2019, 10:37 AM
Rhoda appears briefly in the bible, somewhere around the middle of Acts. Basically St Peter is in prison, and a lot of people are having a meeting to pray for him to be released. He escapes and goes to the house where the meeting is, and bangs on the door. Rhoda goes to the door, sees that it is Peter, rushes in to tell everyone and forgets to open the door. So Pete is on the outside and can't get in, and is on the run. Meanwhile Rhoda is yelling "Peter is here!" which he isn't, because she has locked him out. Everyone else is saying, "No, Rhoda, dear. Peter is in prison, that's why we are having a prayer meeting to pray for him to get out. Er, you seem to have gone stark, staring bonkers."

My life condensed into one religious joke. :)

Devi SM

I think that I own an explanation to everybody about my lately change of name.
I choose Vanessa in a context of bisexual crossdressing because it had a strong sexual meaning for me.
As I'm transitioning, my feelings, mindset has greatly changed, now the real me is being known for everybody and my personality is not the same bisexual very sexual crossdresser.
Since always my wife in a warm way short the nickname she had for David, devito to Devi. At the beginning I thought that Debbie answers to that Devi but lately (you can read this story on a thread Uber S1E2) I realize that Devi is a female name in India and more than that is the name of the main goddess mother of all other divinities.
So I am Devi, SM from San Martin.
Now in the process of legally change it.
Thanks,

Devi

My name is Hawai'ian for Brian. I discovered this while vacationing there and I absolutely love it!

I've asked several natives of the islands and no one is 100% on the pronunciation, so I say it as Pah-lah-ee-na but I've heard it as Pah-lay-nah. Either way it's fun lol

My last name is a play on the word Noctem, Latin for night, and nocturnal which has always been me. You say Carpe diem, I say Carpe Noctem lol

I am the night lol

It might help you to know that a German developed the Hawaiian written langue. Then use common German annunciations for the syllables/ letters.
Learned that when I was in second/third grade at Hickum Elemental school when we were on a field trip to the Bishops Museum. later we moved to a house about 5 blocks from the Bishop and I would frequent it on my Bicycle till we moved onto Wheeler Army Air Field.

My name is Denis , many times in my life I have been called Denise ,, sometimes in jest some times as an insult , some times as a mistake , it is strange getting and insult that you secretly love , you secretly want to be Denise but have to pretend you are angry , when you just want to be in pantyhose a skirt and top and girls shoes .

Manasi
05-30-2019, 04:03 PM
Manasi is a common Indian name, but when I was in high school, there was a girl named Manasi in my class. She was very beautiful, with long waist-length hair, and she would always dress in pretty clothes. I always envied her femininity, so when I wanted to pick a femme name for myself, I chose hers!

bberryluvr
06-01-2019, 09:42 AM
When I started dressing I tried various names and always came back to Christie, or Christie Anne. It's a female version of my given name. Also knew a girl when I was growing up with the same name and she was so bubbly and fun that I wanted to be like that. Over the years have thought about going by a different name, but have gone by it so long that it's me now.

Leslie Mary S
06-02-2019, 03:01 AM
bberryluvr AKA Christie, I agree with you that after you have used a name awhile it grows on you and everyone who knows you know you by that name. You just don't want to change because it is like going back to "newbie" status.

Basically one that shares some sounds kinda like the other name. Also if you name yourself later in life, many of the names you may like are taken by friends or relatives!

StephanieIndy
07-01-2019, 01:43 PM
Quite simply Stephanie is the female version of my birth name (Stephen). I liked it and felt no reason to go for something different. There are some very cute names on this forum, some great inspiration for someone trying to figure out their identity.

CandiGirl
07-08-2019, 06:58 PM
I kinda got given the name when I crossdressed for the first time on halloween. My friends gave me the name Candy with an "I" so it became Candi. From there I kinda went with it.

Thelise
07-08-2019, 09:08 PM
Thelise is a contemporary Scandinavian female name, though rare I believe. I love the look and sound of it. It may be pronounced "Teleez", but i dont mind how it's said. I discovered it after combining Chemise (love them!) with Thelema. I'm by no means a dedicated Crowleyite, but I like his basic ideas, and Thelema sounds very feminine. Yes, all a bit weird, but that's how my name came about.

sarah_hillcrest
07-09-2019, 11:51 PM
When I was trying to think of a name for myself I didn't want to use a feminine version of my own name. I settled on Sarah Hillcrest for several reasons. The foremost reason is I've always found it a beautiful name, I love the way it slides off the tongue. I also really had a secret crush on a girl named Sarah in high school. She was really weird, really smart, and incredibly shy.

I wonder why it is there are so many Sarah CDs?

Kaylin
07-10-2019, 12:09 AM
I went with Kaylin. For two reasons. It's not too far off of my real "Male" name. And my parents said if I was born a female, they were gonna name me Kaylin. LoL so is it fitting? Right on the nail.

I thought about picking a few names that I liked, but when trying them they didn’t feel like “me”. In the end, I went with a name that was similar to a few people I had known over the years (but a different spelling) because when I used it - It felt right and there was no effort to respond/reflex to it.

Leslie Mary S
07-10-2019, 11:55 PM
Of and on since I was in first grade I was frequently called Leslie. Normally by people didn't know how to say my real name (I was also called JR till I was 13) and then as a taunt by the bullies in school I was the smallest person in my class til my Jr year in High School. Then I shoot up from 4' 6" to 6'0" those last two years.

I chose my Feminine name after one of the most Beautiful Girly Girls I worked with while in my Teens. I always admired, as well as envied all the pretty clothes she would wear and just feel so girly with her as she did her nails and makeup at her desk.

I chose my name after a friends wife who I think is stunning and always looks amazing, and thought if I always had this in mind while dressing would drive me to look my best, I also every time I see her in something lovely how I would love to wear that.

Bridgette Azure

My parents would have named me Bridget if I were born a girl. I prefer the longer spelling.

My name came from a female friend who used to give me advise on being feminine, and have kept it ever since

Stephanie Julianna
07-18-2019, 07:45 AM
When I gave myself a name in my teens I used Deborah but always said to myself Debbie. I was enamoured with Debbie Reynolds during her "Tammy" film period. I think I felt her transformation from a tomboy into a gorgeous feminine girl was something I wanted to do. I was Debbie actually into the mid '80s when I met a woman who ran one of those photo processing stores that developed film in 24 hours. She actually did the processing on site and I used to bring all the pics that my boyfriend, Sam, took when we did the scene in NYC. Eventually she asked me if I was the girl in the photos and I said yes. We become close friends and she was totally fascinated with the NYC Drag Scene as we called it. She loved the fact that I could pass and did not look like a drag queen. She said that I looked like a friend of hers named Stephanie and said it fit be better than Debbie. So Stephanie came to be. Julianna is the female version of my legal Middle name which is after my Dad's name. I'd like to think he would approve.

There was a cute, petite brunette named Janina who I once worked with on a show. To this day she was the most feminine woman I've ever met. (Stereotypically so. Think June Cleaver crossed with Betty Boop) So when I picked a name I originally chose Janina. But it never exactly felt right. Eventually I chose Jennifer. Seems to make me think of the kind of sweet girl-next-door I want to be.

I chose my name after one of the most beautiful girl I used to know back in the days.

Helena
07-28-2019, 05:31 PM
The first girl I had a crush on was called Helen, just needed a tweak. Now that people are using it, and also looking towards the possible futures and wandering if a variation of my male name, which I purposely avoided previously might make things a little easier.

When I saw I needed a feminine name for this forum, I finally selected the name of a lovely girl I went with. She loved to wear hose and knew I loved it when she did. Little did she know of my secret desire was to also wear hose. One night, after a date, she caught me watching her take off her pantyhose. She nonchalantly tossed them over to me and told me I looked like I wanted to wear them. I was embarrassed and tried to deny it, but she didn’t buy it. She told me to relax...it was OK with her. They were too small, so I dismissed it thinking it would go away. On our next date, she told me she had a surprise for me, but wouldn’t tell me what it was. After dinner we went up to her place. I finally asked her about the surprise. She reached into her purse and took out a pair of pantyhose and said, “I think these will fit you”. I again tried to deny, but finally gave in and put them on...thinking she’d laugh. She didn’t but did comment, “I think you’ve done this before”. I just smiled. My feminine name is dedicated to her. They were Hanes, which are my favorites to this day.

I don't remember if I post here about my name so here I go:

I choose Vanessa years ago because that name, for me, had some sexual teenager memories of the first naked women I saw in a movie.
Getting in HRT so many things changed in my mind and body that that sexual image not longer represent me.
My name was David and wife created a nickname Devito, ut with the daily use it was Devi.
I choose Debbie but one day an Uber rider from India told me that Devi, as my wife use to call me and we write, is a goddess, in the Hindu religion was actually the mother of all the other gods and is considered a beautiful name not any dare to use but as I'm not Indian or hindu it sound beautiful on me....
Devi...

I agree that Vanessa didn't suit you any more. It sounds very "formal" and that's just not you any more.

My mother called me Dianne. She showed me a picture of me in a dress with a scarf over my hair and told me that she would dress me that way when my father was at work. She said he came home early one day and asked which neighbor girl was playing in our front yard. I guess that put an end to that!

A long time ago I used the name Carla Michelle. But I took a break and when I came back I wanted a new name. I like lace, so Lacy seemed appropriate. I also like the name Christine. It is feminine sounding and goes well with Lacy. I have been Lacy Christine for maybe 20 years!

I dressed for years and it never crossed my mind to have a female name. It wasn't until I visited a cd shop and was asked my feminine name that I thought about it. After some consideration I took my name from the retailer that keeps me properly dressing for my age (40 something). Jaycie or JC for short.

KiraK
09-04-2019, 06:13 PM
I hadn't really thought about going by a feminine name when I first started dressing, which wasn't that long ago. It wasn't until I started venturing out onto the web that I thought an "alias" would be appropriate. Feminizing my real name was just something I wasn't interested in doing. In my mind, my masculine side and my feminine side are two distinct personas, so going by a completely different female name felt natural. Growing up, I always felt that Olivia Newton John's character in the movie Xanadu was the epitome of femininity. I still have huge crush on the character and ONJ to this day. It just seemed natural to me to adopt the name Kira as an homage to the character, though I clearly don't share her beauty. ;) It also helps that I don't know anyone personally by that name, so it wouldn't feel weird (or weirder, as the case may be) to use that name. Adopting that name is something I only use online, and will most likely never tell my wife about. I doubt she'd understand.

Lingerie Lucy
09-13-2019, 01:26 AM
I really didn't spend anytime deciding on my girl name. It literally came to me one night browsing online crossdressing sites. "I'm a Lucy. Lucy fits me!" And just like that, Lucy was born :)

At the age of 45, after living my secret had caused 35+ years of anger, depression, and did I say anger? I finally had the discussion with my Wife. She was already aware of my bisexuality and we had worked through those issues long ago, but I knew I could not be who she needed if I kept denying who I really was. She was so relieved and happy for me that I could finally be happy, that she talked with me for 3 straight days, wanted to know everything about the feminine me. She was and still is excited for me, and has been a supportive, beautiful, perfect life partner through this. I had never considered a female name to this point. To honor her I have taken on the name Teresa, as she said I see you as a Teresa when we were joking about my crossdressing one night.

Harietta, just because I was online as Harry Smith and quickly had to come up with a female name lol. No reason other than that lol.

Looking back, I wish I had used my male name Alex. The name is like me, it goes both ways. Instead I thought of two crushes I had. One in adulthood and the other in childhood. Paige Winslow. I didn't know how to spell Paige when I first adopted it. Someone on this thread taught me. Funny.

My female name, which is not my username, is simply the feminine version of my male name (it's a French name). Makes life simpler! My username is my middle name. In French it is a boy's name, but in English, a girl's name.

_Andrea_
09-25-2019, 10:39 AM
Hi all

My mother was certain I was going to be a girl and had already chosen Andrea for me. Hasty change to Andrew when I popped out. She told me early in life about it. Not sure if that set me on this path but I have absolutely no regrets. I feel so different when I can dress as Andrea, it’s liberating.

My name came about while shopping with my G.F. When she would find something I may like and say" Hun what do you think of this"?
OMG everybody takes a look! I tell her we need a code. This was the time when Caitlyn was in the news but Caitlyn was to well known.
The G.F. often said Caitlyn looked a bit like Jessica Lang? Anyway we agreed Jessica would be the new code word worked for me.
Over time she shortened it up and would say Jess would like this. That was it.

Everywhere I've looked there is no trace of Germany in Hawai'Ian culture. Polynesian Chinese and Japanese. Maybe the British and Spanish but def nothing to do with Germany or its dialect.

The Hawai'ian language predates our maps and history. I don't know who taught you that but they were very wrong.

At first I tried out Sophia and Valerie. But those just didn't feel right.

So I took my grandmothers' names. It has an old fashion sound, and since my family is from Indiana and farming heritage, it feels good to me.

It's who I am (on my feminine side).

Mine comes from the 1st time I dressed after coming out to my wife. I was wearing a black lacy dress and a long brown wig. That is the same reason I chose my first name. I used it when I would catfish in the early days of the Internet. Plus it has many of the letters of my given name. I always use a philosopher as my screen name but in this case Simone or Ayn didn't appeal to me so I just went with the last part since it is also a feminine name.

Mariabella
10-31-2019, 03:54 PM
I use an old family name. Mariabella was a great grandmother and an aunt. I chose it as I always looked to these women as a child Abuela Maria and Aunty Bella are women I want to emulate, especially Aunty Bella with her sculpted red lips and perfect updo, Always perfectly put together. I would sneak in and put on her lipstick when I got to stay with her. She had to see the stains but never gave me anything but love.
So this is me and I am Mariabella, it is my pleasure to say hello to you all

Although I don't cross dress in public often, the 2 names I have been trying to decide on for my fem name is either Brenda or Brandy. The latter is close to my real name which is why I like it better I think.

Shely

I also liked the name Shelly, because it starts with She, so I just dropped the second l to be Shely.

I never could think of a name for myself, when I met my current gf and revealed to her she was totally into it! She?s Bi so she feels that she?s getting the best of both worlds. I asked her what I should call myself, she came up with with the name and we both loved it.

I haven't fully decided on my girl name but I have been using Montana because it was the name my parents had picked for me had I been born a girl. I have been warming up to it but every now and then I think of Hannah Montana and I get cold to it again.

JessicasRabbit
11-24-2019, 08:03 PM
When I joined this site, I hadn't considered a female pseudonym as I had not planned to ever venture out. I used a play on my wife's name along with a popular cartoon character. I came up with "Jessica's Rabbit" (sans apostrophe and space).

Sad to say that after 15 years, she has decided to leave me. This has left me in a conundrum. I'm not her Rabbit anymore. Keeping her name feels awkward; unless I happen to keep meeting Jessicas.

I have also began venturing out while dressed; to at least 2 drag shows and to visit a GG friend who has been helping me with hair and makeup.
Since I've started going out while dressed, I wondered about introducing myself with my given name or not.

There Instagram post that was shared of a dressed me which got me thinking. Someone remarked that I look like Carmen Miranda in the photo. I thought of adopting a part of that. I settled on the surname part; Miranda. I kept the thought along the Portuguese/Brazilian theme. I thought of the new victory in expressing myself. The Portuguese version is Vitoria.

"Vitoria Miranda" is what I have come up with as a possible Pseudonym/Alter ego.

Hi Shelly and others. I choose Samantha from the character in the TV series Bewitched. When I was younger and watched reruns on TV, I was infatuated with Samantha Stephens. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen and fantasized about being her when I grew up. I took her name as she was the type of woman I see myself.

Amalou = Amanda Louise

Amanda because I like the name and also there was a very attractive girl my age who lived opposite the family home. Louise is my wife's middle name. When I need a surname I use my mother's maiden name.

I am Michelle. It is a name I chose after meeting an acquaintance of my girlfriend, a beautiful brunette who exuded tremendous feminine energy, positive and cheerful, beautiful and open, flirty and fun, and who had her look together with such confidence and glamourous sexiness. Her butt looked really cute in designer jeans. And since I was blessed with a bit of junk in my own trunk I thought I could pull off the look too.

I chose Aelyn, firstly because I thought it sounded very pretty but also because of how it fits into my families background. I?m a nerd so I chose something found in mythology. It took me forever to feel comfortable choosing one to stick with!

Jemima Stephens
02-20-2020, 12:32 PM
I picked Jemima as it is the feminine version of my first name and something I was called by bullies in the playground because of my name and the Playschool TV programme character. Also shortens nicely to 'Mimi' which is about as quintessentially Trans/CD as you can get!

Crissy 107
02-20-2020, 08:57 PM
Hi Jemima, What a pretty name and I also love the shortened version of Mimi. I too was bullied when I was young and they used to say, Crissy is a sissy. that is the reason I picked Crissy as my girl name.

Kimberly A.
02-20-2020, 09:20 PM
I want to jump in on this too, although I think I already shared with y'all why I chose Kimberly as my feminine name..... My real name is Kenneth, (I go by Kenny) and I don't know if there's a feminine version to Kenneth. Anyway, really the main reason I chose Kimberly was because for one, it's a beautiful name. But mostly, (and I do feel kinda embarrassed admitting this, but not really), I grew up watching the Power Rangers and the first Pink Ranger, (portrayed by the lovely Amy Jo Johnson), her character's name was Kimberly. :D

She prefers women.

Nadia Wren

When I came out to my SO, we talked about names and she suggested Nadia. I liked the suggestion because I always felt naughty dressing discreetly.
Years later, when I joined this site, I added Wren as a last name because it is one of my favorite birds, and birds are sort of symbolic of freedom with their flight and song.
Unlike others, my name is a complete detachment from my male persona.

lindapantyboy
04-19-2020, 07:38 AM
The "pantyboy" part of my name was given to me by a middle-school teacher of mine named Linda, after she accidentally saw my panties (whale tail) one day. I had been wearing since I was six, however that account will be shared in a different post. Anyway, she told me that "pantyboy" was to be my new nickname, but just between the two of us. I always feared she'd accidentally call me that name in front of the class, but she never did. The "Linda" part of my name was chosen by me to honor her, and also to keep my memory alive concerning my "first time" which happened with her at my tender young age of 13 or 14.

sage2020

Hey there. I go by Nikki, because my real name is Nick, I use Samantha as well, because I really like that name.

Missy Myelin
04-22-2020, 02:56 PM
I have tried many names over the years and nothing really fits. Michelle is the femme version of my real name and kids would tease me by calling me that in school, not knowing I actually enjoyed it lol. As an eighties kid, Stacy was a hot girls name, but since I married a Stacy that would be confusing at this time in life.

I was diagnosed with MS 8 years ago and for those that don't know, Myelin is the neuro protective material that gets eaten away by an autoimmune attack. Since I am missing myelin, i thought Missy Myelin would be a good twist on that. I think it would be a great drag name as well, but I lack the dancing skills physically and remembering words for lipsync while being quick witted on stage due to cognitive issues also limits any performance possibilities. We don't get see as many drag shows as we used to due to heavy fatigue and the shows usually starting later in the evening, but we still go a few times a year.

I think manna is perfect for me.

larissa-laurie
05-12-2020, 02:03 AM
I picked two names because I like names starting with L. I liked Larissa because I thought I made it up many years ago and I liked Laurie because of a girl by that name I liked, so Larissa-Laurie became my feminine name. When I go in to try on dresses, the lady writes on the door of the change booth my feminine name and usually calls me Larissa while I am there. It is fun and exciting.

Elaina
05-13-2020, 06:55 AM
I distinctly remember the day that my feminine name came to me. It was a bright, sunny day. I had just stepped onto the back patio in a cute, white mini skirt with a peach top. I sat down in the chair, crossed my smooth legs, and smiled up at the sky.

Without any pretense or build-up, a question came to me. "Who am I?"

And before I could even have time to think about it, before I could even register the full depth of the question, the answer arose. It did not come as a whisper, or as a suggestion, but as a measured, confident, and fully resolute response. "Elaina."

That was it. I knew that the Truth had revealed itself to me.

Jessie was the cowgirl in Toy Story 2 and on.

But you already know that. She loves Woody but Woody has a thing for Little Bow Peep.

Princess29

When I was trying to think of a female name, originally I was going to go with Emily but my niece was just born at that time and she was called Emily so I thought against it. I do also like the name Jessica and that was probably my second choice but I went with Melissa so I can have a name to shorten (my boy name only has one syllable) and then I added a middle name of Elizabeth (I now have another niece named Elizabeth)
I have thought about changing my female name to Jessica but not sure if it is worth it as those who know me in real life, know me as Melissa

Sally Paradise

Hi Alexa. No doubt you'll get plenty of folk saying things like "Alexa, play me some relaxing music." or "Alexa, whats the weather forecast for tomorrow." :) It's a beautiful name though. Both feminine and sexy.

I'm up in the highlands so you are the closest member that I've come across so far.

My name on here is my real name, lol.

I’ve used a few different names throughout the years, each with their own origins, but the name I’m sticking with was chosen by my wife. As we began discussing exploring this side of me, I wanted her to feel included in the process. She’s an incredible partner, so I wanted her to have a name that felt natural to say.

Alexis Rae felt right as soon as she said it, so I went with it ☺️

My wife knows I cross dress and is fully supportive. She takes me shopping and helps me get dressed and apply makeup.

About 6 months ago she asked if I'd ever thought about a female name. I admitted that I hadn't given it a lot of thought. She told me she'd been wanting to address me by a female name but she didn't want to scare me. I am not sure why I cross dress and I'm not 100% comfortable with it. She's VERY comfortable with my dressing.

My wife is very loving, very intelligent, very supportive of dressing, and sensitive to my insecurities. She LOVES to help me get dressed and made up for an evening around the house, and she knows that I sometimes feel embarrassed about it. She calls it "Catholic guilt" and says I don't have to feel guilty about any of this. She's way more supportive (turned on) than I could have ever hoped for.

That "Catholic guilt" keeps me from going overboard with dressing. She's supportive but also has boundaries. I don't dress every day or even weekly. It's not anything I need to hide from her so I can wear heels and a dress anytime I'm home. No worries. But I'm always afraid of dressing too much or going too far with it... and scaring her away or ruining the excitement (she typically gets pretty excited when I ask if I can throw on a dress or some eye liner). I don't want her to "get sick of it" and have a 180* change of heart 10yrs down the road. So I'm mindful not to drown her or overload her with it.

Her response to that "Catholic guilt" is always compassion and encouragement. So it's not shocking that given my somewhat irrational fear my wife will get sick of this some day .... I never considered taking it to the level of asking her to call me by a female name.

So she'd already been thinking about it and had rolled several different female names around in her head. She came up with one that she likes for me.... because its sounds sexy and turns her on.

Nina, be glad you have a supportive wife. It sounds like you have everything under control. Maybe someday she will do your makeup and you dress. then take some photos so you can shrink one down to 150 dots by 150 dots for your avatar.
if not then there are many avatars already made up so you can pick one out.

I was subconsciously female before I ever started dressing or behaving as a woman in everyday life. Part of this was playing female roles in games. Back when Second Life was new and popular, I played a female character. The in-game name generator suggested names based on your real initials, and suggested "Vivian Newkirk" for me. I liked that and went with it. Much later when I decided I needed a fem name, that immediately came to mind.

When my feminine side emerged I quickly realized I wanted a female name. My r/l name is Dave so the obvious choice was Davina but I didn't feel that was right for me. I wanted a name that started with the same initial. So then I thought Dorothy, but that didn't feel right, either. Diana was my third choice and as soon as it came into my head I knew that was the name. It feels like me.

I have this forum, Crossdressers. com to thank.
I always had an inner girl. I always saw myself as a girl. In my mind's eye I've always been a female persona, but I never adopted a girl name during all the years of secretly crossdressing, hiding, etc. I played around with my Mom's first name for a while but it never "stuck" with me. Sometimes I used a feminized alliteration of my real name name; some like Tommi, or Tomi or Tommy.

About 6 yrs ago I came out. Actually, I got caught at long last and had to 'splain myself, to myself and others. As I did I began to dress more earnestly, seriously and fully. That went on for year or so. In my newfound femme zeal I sought out websites for information and support. This Forum was about the first, best and only one I found. Thank God I did. Nothing like the internet existed when I was a young trans woman trying to come to grips with my dysphoria. (hell, I didn't even know the words dysphoria or transgender). I am so glad boards like this exist. They save lives.

In the course of signing up for an account on the forum, I had to have a female name. It dawned on me to use my Mother's middle name. I loved the sound. ILENE (eye-leen). It has stuck since then and I proudly own it. Thanks Mom, and thanks CD.com

initials: JJ. most people call me JJ, pronounced jayjay. but, as you may or may not know, in French (I'm a bit of a Francophile) the letter J is pronounced as English-speakers pronounce G, more or less (and vice versa actually).... hence JIJI..... voil? !!!! added the Xx because I love kisses, and because my XHamster profile is named: jiji_bisous

Brandi Christine

I go by Brandi, but Brandi Christine is my chosen name.

When I was a little kid, maybe 10 or 12, I got the single "Brandy, You're A Fine Girl" while shopping with my Mom & siblings at Value Village. I loved the song, and had a vision of a beautiful blonde girl that the song was about. The song has stuck with me over the years, but I preferred the brandi version of the name?

My cousin Chris, she is so nice & she is also pretty, on the inside too, she is an honestly good person. She has no idea but she is someone I emulate, the ideal type of woman I would like to be if I could.

When I first came here I was AmandaSophy. Amanda was tongue in cheeck and the name I used when I first pretended to be a woman as an adult. Sophy because I was a philosophy major as an undergrad and always chose philosopher names as my handle in online forums. But female philosophers are rare and I don?t much want to be Simone as in Debovoir or Ayn as in Rand. Sophy reflects my desire to be wise in all that I do. As I have grown this year, I am ready to embrace Sophy as part of me without the need to qualify my name. The V is the initial of my last name but if I had the choice in real life, I would Be Sophy DeValle writer of injustices.

I felt it was important to register for this website but seeing all the women's usernames I was at a loss. The name I chose is one I've used on other websites and it was available here... though it is very confusing when going to my profile page and seeing a whole category of contacts listed under "Visitor."

I've not been actively crossdressing for many years, so I'm not engaging with a female alter with whom I have a relationship. That said, as I've posted here and on a couple of other websites, the question has risen... does this part of me who wants to put on a brassiere have a name? Funny thing is I've been talking with a fellow on another website who was diagnosed years ago with Dissociative Identity Disorder who has a female alter he has been working with for years. Under supervision of his psychiatrist and his medical doctor, he had 10 years of HRT to allow that alter to inhabit a more feminine body. He wasn't intent on transitioning but merely honoring that part of himself. When I registered for a new website covering some of these issues, I thought for a moment and the name Christy came to mind. I registered under that username and it feels right... that it is Christy who loves here breasts and wants to put on a brassiere in the morning, who loves to shop for sexy clothes. I think I'll consider my persona on this website as Christy V. I may even begin signing my posts with that name... mmm.

Michelle is my real legal name.

My name was supposed to be Michael.

Because of a lot of different reasons and bad timing, my Great Grandmother was the only one with my Mom when she gave birth.

My Great Grandmother had to fill out the birth certificate and when she went to the registrar the original was in cyrilic; my Great Grandmothers most used language being Russian. So the registrar asked her what my name was and she said "Michelle", just exactly as you would pronounce "Michael" in Russian. For the middle name my Great Grandmother assumed that it would be the same "there" as it was "back home" and gave my fathers patronymic "Stephanovich". Now the registrar apparently thought translated that as "Stephanie".

My legal name and my legal sex have always been Michelle Stephanie blahblah, and female. However; I never knew this till I went to enlist in the Army and needed my Birth Certificate. Long story, doesn't relate, and there you have it.

Shrugs.

My original choice for a name was Katherine, as it is one of my favorite names. Of course, I then named my daughter Katherine, so it suddenly became weird. But I still have the name Kathi Lynne a few places. My real name is Chris, but Christine/Christina is supposedly one of the most common names for transwomen, and I needed a unique spelling to get an email address that didn't have a bunch of numbers in it so I went with Kristyn. I still haven't been thrilled with it; I took to signing my name K.Lynne for a while so I experimented with Kaelynn, but it just never seemed to fit.

In the beginning I went by Amy, but I had picked it because of a girl I liked - and it started feeling kind of "icky"

So, when I started getting more serious, I figured I'd keep the same initials for my first and middle new "forever" name (S.L.).
I was noodling around with numerology at the time and after experimenting a bit I came up with Sara Lin B***

Since I've been taking over a lot of the housework, my wife has jokingly nicknamed me "Becky Home-Eccy".
But for now, I think I'll stick with Sara.

Hello Cindy,
I just joined but picked my name of Janet Devon years ago. How long have you been cross dressing. Your photo looks lovely. I need to make a good one of myself. My clothing looks more feminine than my face. I can look reasonable with a fair amount of time spent on make up. Glad you joined the group, best of everything. Janet

Many human being struggle all their life looking for ann identity. Our name is something we don't chose and grow just accepting it, fortunately here we can dream about a name that we like and if a female name better.

I wrote time ago about my name, Devi, my wife always called me diminutive of my name David, devito and most of the time short it to devi.
I picked when I got my membership here I realize I need a name and Vanessa was the symbol of sexiness since I was a teenager and watch a sexual.movie about a wife that secretly was lesbian, her name ,Vanessa.

Being in hormones many things change in my mind and one of them was my lack of libido, (a bad side effect of spironolactone) so now Vanessa sounded wrong for me and Debbie was closer to devi but one day, driving for Uber, and Indian passenger talked me about Devi as the name of a indian goddess and I love it.

In September I received the court decree with my legal name Devi and just this past Monday, after receiving my new SS card with the new name I went to DMV and submit the application for Real Id with my gender corrected to my reality.

I think I should share it with you because our dreamed name can became real....

So my first female name, that I went by for years and years, was Savannah, after the city. However, I've just recently changed over to Amelia Rose. I chose a new name as part of what I see as a new phase of my life, having come out to the wife and finally found acceptance, I feel like I am really starting anew. As for origins of the name...honestly my wife helped me chose. We went back and forth on names for awhile until we found one that we felt captured the personality displayed my photos.

Stevie Allyn
12-16-2020, 07:49 AM
When I first joined the forum I chose the username Amalou, short for Amanda Louise which was my first online female name way back when.

Things have changed since then (!) and I decided to make a less gender specific version of my male first name to use on Facebook = Stevie. Having some positive feedback from that I decided I would also make a less gender specific middle name from my male middle name = Allyn.

Happy with those new names I then requested a forum username change to "Stevie Allyn".

A sweet moment today when sorting cardboard for recycling, on the box with our Christmas present in my sister had addressed it to Stevie and [wife's name].

I got my name from a song my mother was in love with the song Brandy (You?re a fine girl) by Looking Glass. She said if she ever had a girl that was going to be her name. When she was pregnant with me that was my name on up until she found out I was a boy. Later when I became a crossdresser I chose the name Brandy Nichole because hey that was my name any way. When I came out to everyone I told my mother my name was Brandy. It took her a minute she then smiled, hugged me and said she finally got Brandy.let me tell you about Brandy she is a redheaded ginger goddess with legs for days. Brandy is a fine girl as fine as a glass of Brandy. Everyone who has seen her or her pics all say the same thing "Damn you make a good looking woman." So HELLO WORLD and my future friends Brandy is here to stay.
I pledge to no longer purge.
I pledge to never hide my true self.
I pledge to keep a clean supplies of Panties.
I pledge to be in good standing with my fellow sisters.
I pledge to have a woman's wardrobe including heels.

I second "nice affirmations." My father's sperm fooled my mother's eggs. I was suppose to be a girl. But, alas, another son I was. I was named the masculine of the feminine name I was suppose to get. Hence, I claimed my birthright.

The first time I dressed, I looked at myself in a full-length mirror and I thought it was a "Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween" look, which isn't what I wanted. So now I'm going with Laurie -- that was her character's name. I guess I'm an ironic person.

For decades I never thought of picking a name for my female self. Basically consisting of a small suitcase with 3-4 pairs of high heels, some impossible to walk and others too small for my feet, my feminine wardrobe was stuck and well concealed in a spare room. I had never fully dressed since my teenage years.

That changed two weeks after telling my current girlfriend of my crossdressing. We talked a lot and I answered many of her questions... except one, what was my female name. She said right away... you must have one. And we picked Gisele, from Gisele Bunchen, the brazilian top model, married to Tom Brady. For my girlfriend Gisele is the most beautiful human being on earth and I deserved nothing less than this reference!

I was flattered. Its been two years since that day and we use Gi?s name in everyday conversations, when talking to sales people, her initials are in our matching anklets and even in my car plate... I love it! 💕

Gi.

First name changed from Alex and slightly altered my last name so it might be a typo but wouldn’t be the same in a database.

Well I must say I didn't have a problem with a female name as it came about long ago when I first started dressing in mom's lingerie. The lingerie that I loved the most and excited me the most was any with lace. So obviously I became Lacy and have loved that name for years now. I do favor buying lacy lingerie but certainly don't limit myself to that but also don't limit myself to cloths with lace. I think a gurls name has to mean something to them as when you name your children you give that a lot of thought as I did naming myself as I guess it was the birth of me as a man who has become a gurl or now a mature gurl.318692

I chose my name after a very good friends wife who I think is amazing and always looks amazing.

When I decided one day early in the piece that I wanted to buy a complete outfit from head to toe I thought of her and what she would like and from what I had seen her wear, although I had not idea of the underwear, but have always presumed its nice and very feminine.

So a wig, Undies, Stockings, Dress, Heals, Earings I had my outfit, once I had it all I dressed and loved it, and when I see Jeanette My mind goes to this outfit and if she is wearing something nice I look for something like it for my collection, so she is why i chose my name and she is my mentor even is she has no idea.

My wife said 'You need a name' and named me. Makes more special in my opinion. I think she likes Mila Kunis too😉.

Lori Ann Westlake
03-12-2021, 03:24 PM
"Lori" was a feminine adaptation of my male name. So the male and female "me" are Larry and Lori.

You will find numerous "Lawrence Westlakes" on the Web, but none of them are me. The "Westlake" part was inspired by a real lake that my wife and I lived happily close to in the first house we bought together.

And the "Ann"? I've known several nice women named Ann, but it really reminds me of the lines of poetry Winnie the Pooh wrote about Tigger:

Whatever his weight in pounds, shillings, and ounces,
He always seems bigger because of his bounces.

When Piglet asked what on earth the "shillings" were doing there, Pooh told him "they just wanted to come in after the pounds, so I let them." He reassured Piglet that "it is the best way to write poetry, letting things come." That's the only explanation I can give for the "Ann." She just wanted to come in after the "Lori," so I let her. No wonder "Ann" has been such a popular middle name: one final touch of femininity.

I am thinking of trimming down my name from "Leslie Mary Shy" to just "Leslie Shy". "Mary" was the name of my last girlfriend who passed away about 2008.
For those who do not know, Leslie was a name I was frequently called during my youth by school bullies and people called me because they did not know how to pronounce my weirdly spelled first name. "Shy" is how I really am.

Valerie Louise
03-15-2021, 02:13 PM
I chose my original name, Rikki, by using the feminine version of my male nickname. My full male first name is a longer European name passed down in the family (I?m first generation). I recently had a fantastic week at a B&B with my wife, and she started wanting to call my name when dressed. I think told her what I chose for the forum, and she thought we could do better. After checking baby names from the late 50s for options, with no good candidates, she came up with Valerie. I was immediately smitten by the name and took it. She calls me Val every now and again in male mode and all the time en femme, and it feels right.

I am surprised I never posted in this thread, so I guess I will, to say I did! *giggle*
I was dressing a lot when I started growing breasts in fifth grade, by sixth grade my breasts were bigger than most girls.
Mom allowed me to wear bras and dress up girly after school, when Dad was away for work.
She called me Candy, slightly muffling the C, mimicking my birth name.
So when Murphy Brown came on TV, Candice Bergan was an idol and the name stuck.
Today, Candy is so close to my birth name, it turns my head when the name is called out.
There was a family of 4 girls and one boy of my age who moved into house next door,
Hanging out with the boy, the girls treated me like a family member and I adored the way those women dressed and presented.
Judy, Joyce , Nancy, and Cookie...there mother liked her daughters in dresses and skirts.
Gosh, they were so pretty all the time, good manors, and nice to me...I wanted to be their sister.
And the last name of the family stuck.
My middle name came in my 50's as one local internet friend was always kind to me and helped me with questions about local clubs and events,
Colleen was a best friend and her chosen name became my middle name.
Candice Colleen Kowal, but all my friends call me Candy....isn't that sweet?!?! *giggle*
Kowal is a true Polish name....means a Blacksmith. My real polish name means Barrel maker.
You can bet my ancestors new a lot of Kowals.

A bit of a chicken or the egg thing for me. I was playing this game and came up with multiple ladies names for a group...among them Erica Mayhem, Trisha Horror, and ultimately Becca Death was either the reason I started down that road or what inspired the name and the "horror" theme...

I ultimately adopted it because I'm a metal head and Rebecca is a name that is prevalent in my father's side of the family tree. So I figured I'd "glam it up" as it were. I like to think the female version of me is cooler than the regular version. Guy me would never get a nickname...

Gilly68
04-09-2021, 02:17 PM
I don't really know where my name came from, it just popped into my head, but I do have a few ideas where I got it from!

I think it might be because I want to present as a middle aged lady, and I used to work with a lovely middle aged lady called Gilly.

My name is one that seems appropriate for a middle aged woman, not too modern, but not a really old name, just nice and sweet and appropriate for a fifty something woman, and it does suggest a nice, average lady, which is how I want to be.

And there's quite a few options available to me, Gill, Gilly, Gillian, which is also a bonus.

For the longest time I didn't have a name, didn't really seem needed.

Some friends of mine started using the name Susan as code when they they weren't sure if others knew about my dressing, ie. "Have you caught up with Susan lately?"

But I was never really into that name. I have always loved the name Jessica, always seemed like a really pretty name, so I have just run with that. Makes me smile when I hear or read it
