My Opinion: (For what it is worth.)
I feel like that is a fair, general description. The challenge of any classification is for the individual to establish how they wish to interact with the rest of society. I think this is a reflection of our perception of the world. It seems that I have relied rather more heavily on instinct than reason in most of my interaction with other people. I fell in love with my wife not by the application of reason, but I rely heavily on reason to cultivate and maintain my relationship with her as well as to insure the well-being of my "circle of influence". (Myself, my family and the other people I care about.) That circle of influence is created by the instinctual need I have for their company, their companionship, and their need for me. But sustaining these relationships requires me to place the appropriate value on intuition as well as reason. I think that my "gender issues" are largely instinctual and are likely based on my dissatisfaction with what I perceive as the "typical" male role. My instinctual reactions to situations don't seem to match that of my "normal" male counterparts, and much of the time I just try to figure out what the heck they are thinking and the rest of the time wondering why women put up with their crap. It hurts me if I think someone sees me as a "threat" or appears afraid of me. I suppose that I don't like to be defined by gender, I want to be judged by my actions and for who I am, not by what hormone took dominance over my appearance. Ok, I'll stop. The test was fun. Now things are making more sense to me. I'm pleased to have access to this test. Some questions were simple to answer but others made me stop and really think. I wonder how I will score the second time around I think I'll wait a while before I do it again though.
I scored 190, class 4. probable transgender. I was a little bit surprised I was that high, but I've repressed so much of my true self over the years that I guess I shouldn't be surprised at all. This is a great relief to me, and I especially liked the summary that followed the score. It gives me some perspective. If they had just given me a score and a class, I would have been left with a million questions.

There is something that I wanted to raise about the Cogiati test. Please bear with me, I am working purely on feeling and have no scientific basis for what I am about to say ...

This test is a guideline. I think that much is clear. Julie M got one of the highest ratings I have ever seen coming from this test (somewhere around 420, wasn't it?). I have taken it several times over the years and each time, the score climbs. The first time I was around the 220 mark, the last one is around the 320 mark (or so).

Being classified as Androgyne is actually quite fantastic. At least, *I* think so. Means you can use the best of both worlds to your advantage.

There are hundreds of other tests out there and each says something slightly different to the last one. Similar, but not. What worried me is that I used to be *very* balanced brained. Not so long ago, I retook a lot of tests (maths, spacial, colours, feelings, etc) and came out far more on the female normative scale which really surprised me. Maybe I always forced certain things to be true because I was supposed to be a man and I am letting go? I don't know.

Simply put, if you feel TS, screw the score and speak to someone. OK? Heck, it says I am probable TS. HAH! I know it baby :p. Heck if it says you are TS and you don't feel that way, don't bother either. Each person is unique. But always, if you feel you need to talk to someone about it, DO! Either here as a starting point or with a professional. But don't put it off any longer than you have to.

I (am probably horribly anal and) have taken the COGIATI many times over the years. When doing so, I saved the test result pages so I could look back on them in the future.

In June of 2000 I was an androgyne. By August I'd become a probable transsexual and have been one ever since. Looky here:

I've done this test a few times, and others like it for career assessments etc......what you have to be careful about is being TOTALLY subjective when you answer the questions.....it's all too easy to make the answers fit what you want to hear....

I am a civil engineer by profession, have been for 15 years........I took a career assessment review test based on similar lines when I was looking for an alternative direction.......only the result came back - perfectly suited to a career as a civil engineer !!! Ooops !!

I just got done taking the test again. I took it about a week or so back when I first found this thread.

Both times I scored 180 COGIATI classification FOUR, PROBABLE TRANSSEXUAL

The first time I took it I tried to be honest, but couldn't help but feel like I was biasing the answers so that it came out the way I wanted. Also I took it late in the evening when I was pretty tired.

I decided to wait a bit and take it again later when I was more awake. This time I answered the questions as honestly as I could.

While the score surprised me, I felt very comfortable with the results. In my growing awareness of my truly feminine nature, it was comforting to have my feelings objectively rated.

I'm not sure where to go next, because I don't really see a transition in my future any time soon. It did help me feel less like I'm a freak and alone, though.

I got -175 which is pretty much what I expected and I'm quite happy with that.

I th9ink some of the questions may have been a bit obvious at where they were going though. Most people know that men are generally more visual and women more auditory so someone could, if they wanted, manipulate their answers. I think most of us want to know the truth though.

Also, my eyesight isn't that great so some of thos questions may be a bit misleading.

That said, it was a lot of fun. Definately worth a go.

I took this a 2nd time and both times I scored in this area. This time was an 85, but honestly can't remember the last time. I noticed that (for me) the test makes you think about pressres of family and friends and that greatly impacts the results. If I wasn't married with children, my score would probably be in the get an SRS area. Oh well.

I have taken this test several times over the past few years and I always come up with a score of 285-295 if I am honest with the answers. Playing with the results by stretching towards how I want to feel when I answer this number can be pushed up a bit.

The truth is, I have an accepting and supportive wife and I love what we have together so my feeling is that even if I am mentally TS, I am going to choose to remain just a CD to preserve what I have in my marriage. It is just too good and too valuable to give up, especially when I get to dress and be feminine with her support and help.

145-150... This is interesting test, but I would like to take a real test from professionals and everything, to see who I really am.

I have to agree. Sure would like to know where this stuff comes from, still. Many years ago, I was in medical research and the begining of Genetic profiling and testing. We tested various members of the team before we started testing ramdom public for the study. Mine came out as >96% male XXY. I remember that they were real suprised, as was I, and they repeated the test 10 times. the only thing that changed was the percentage. It varied form 94% - 98% - male. Which leaves 2% - 6% of me - Female.

They would test me from time to time, just to make sure that the process was not flaud.

I did not know what a XXY was until they explained it to me. XXY people run the gamit from 98% female to 98% male, with true hermaphordite being in the center.

Over 90% of the population will classify as either

Male - XY or XYY
Female - XX or XXX

I hope they don't use this test as a real indicator of anything.

The test is extremely stereotypical and, therefore, easy to "beat." The results imply that if you have a female brain, you don't know where sounds are coming from, you hate math, you love english and poetry, you are empathic, you can't park, you are great at reading faces and recognizing voices, you don't know directions, etc. If you want to be a "Top Gun," you should answer that you have thought about suicide and would rather be dead if you could never get to be a real woman. Oh, and that dressing doesn't really excite you.

By the way, I scored 545, classification 5. I should seek counseling immediately! But before you call the cyber-medics, this was just an experiment to score as high as I could.

I think that a good and valid psychological test should be one in which you don't know how every answer is going to be tallied.

If at one point of time, one is feeling that they are Transgendered, they might want to do more research on it. I came across this article from the TS roadmap, dismissing the claims made by COGIATI tests.

I scored a 175 (Class 4, Probable Transsexual).

That's pretty accurate. The only thing is that I have ADD and always have, so when they ask about what I was good at when I was a kid that stuff might be inaccurate and could indicate greater femininity. I'm great at writing stories and poetry now, and so it's not unreasonable to suppose that, had it not been for ADD, I might have done that much better as a kid and loved it more than anything else. Note, I did play a lot of imagination games, so that would have been right up my alley.
