I still insist that you try it without the mask and body stuff. I feel as if you have a self-acceptance problem.
So you ain't perfect, so what. Old, so what. The rest of us have our issues too. Since you bring this up, I'm wondering whether you're still lost and trying to find yourself. Try it without the stuff, and report back!
People change their appearance and function in small and large degrees all the time and throughout all known history.
Sometimes temporary, like wearing clothes at all in many climates for decoration, to enhance some attributes and hide others, to wear make-up, to wear jewelry or body paint, to wear masks in religious ritual to 'become' a sacred animal spirit or god.
Sometimes permanant like tattoos, ear piercing, facelifts, cranio-facial reconstruction for those born with a deformed face and skull, hip replacements, breast enlargements and reductions, body piercing, lobe stretching, lip stretching through to the full face tattoos of the Maori and the full body tattoos designed to resemble reptile scales of the totem of a south east asian tribes (don't recall the name, sorry) to the extreme, like the practice of cutting the penis of males almost completely in half as part of the intiation into manhood of one Aboriginal tribe (to make it look like the twin-penis of their totemic ancestor-animal) which is but one of the many genital-surgeries and other body modifications of traditional peoples that have survived from ancient times to the present day.
Compared to all the many variations of human behaviour yours is mild and harmless. Your presence is just exposing us to difference and that does no long term harm and a lot of good just like meeting and getting to know someone from a different race or culture or religion does.
If people think your turn-ons are creepy they have not begun to explore the wide variations of human sexuality through the ages and still existing (like using bee stings or vomit for sexual pleasure or once a year having sex with the mud with every other adult male in the tribe right alongside you to fertilise the mother earth literally!) or the wide varieties of cultural practices through history and still existing today.
Too often the western world sterilises and ignores much of the worlds cultures giving a false impression of what is 'normal'.
We need exposure to variety and to difference so we can judge people on the rightness or wrongness of their actions, not on the sameness or diffference of them!
And as long as it only involves adult humans without cognitive impairment giving fully informed consent then a sexual practise, no matter how uncommon, is right and not wrong.
Making you Sherry far more right in your sexual behaviour than the average person who has a one-night stand with someone who is drunk (cognitively impaired). Yours is less common but right, theirs is very common and yet wrong!
If you like it Sherry do it. While I would not, I do trowel on the makeup. And on occasion do the Photoshop thing to make my pix better. The models do it so why can't I. So you might try makeup and Photoshop, but you like the mask keep it. We all have our likes and dislikes. Personally, I at one time had a fetish thing in CDing. Today, I don't. No excitement (except some anticipation excitement) for me, just relaxing and a calming effect. But to each her own said the old lady as she kissed the cow! Old saying but still funny.

I am almost your age and really got into dressing about one year ago. Before that it was always a quick dressup and a happy ending. Then I slowly wanted to be the best girl that a 60 year old man could be. It slowly ceased being a sexual thing. The outfits and the makekup were VERY important to me. Once dressed I just had to get out. I now dress about one week per month and carefully get ready and strut my stuff. I go to bars, nightclubs and resturants. I get lots of complimants, so I must not to horrible. The important part is that I can not only be with the girl in the mirror, but I am her. Do you never have the urge to get Sherry out of the house and interactring with others? At this point I can not do anything else. Charlie is out and about or not dressed.
It's not my cup of tea, but it's your life. I don't see any harm in it.
Ah, I was wondering if that was a way for you to mask your identity and hide from those that you may know, but now I see it's much different. Congrats on finding a way to cheat your age :D Just like everyone else, I've seen your posts and you are a great person, I don't mind what you do. Just stay happy and don't let others' opinions get you down :)

What you do is not that different of what many of us do, and known as autogynephilia. I don't know yet the proportion of autogynephilic CDers, and I might make a poll about this in the near future to assess it. And you will notice you are far for being unique in this respect.
Maybe the biggest difference with most of us is you started late in life, so that you had to deal with the physique of an old (wo)man, whereas wanting to look as a pretty girl.
Most of GG wished to look as pretty girls, but most of them have several decades delay before realizing they aren't lifelong.
You have to deal with the sad reality of being an old woman, without having the pleasure to have been a young woman before.
Most of us started early and have learnt to cope with aging as a woman.
Nevertheless, even having started early, even looking as a not-so-old man, I was tempted to use masks as you do, because :
(a) I have considered myself for most of life rather like a MAN in a dress
AND (b) I was sure, during that same period, being a standard man.
(c) I realized only very recently I was TG, so that I immediately wanted to look as a WOMAN, and no more like a man (in a dress).
So that, my story is not so different from yours as it might have seemed.
And that's why, excatly like you, I immediately thought about a mask for creating the illusion of a pretty young girl.
Happily a mask was not necessary for me. With a good wig and a very slight makeup, I can create the illusion (at least for myself in the mirror) of being a real woman, even being as old as you.
All that explain why I feel very like yourself, :hugs:

Doc, dont be too hard on yourself. If you enjoy what you are doing then enjoy it. I want to enjoy my life and make the most of it. So should you. Dont be hard on yourself for what you do. Sometimes I feel very guilty about dressing as a woman. But I did not ask to be this way. I know I could speak to a mental health professional about this, but I prefer to embrace my crossdressing. In many ways I am like you. I do not want to become a woman permanantly, and I just enjoy becoming Jennifer. Actually, crossdressing is theraputic to me. It relaxes me, when dressed I am less likely to snack, and the next day ( for some strange reason ) I am in a good mood. My blood pressure decreases and thats healthy.
As far as the mask is concerned, you stated that you wear one because you look like an ugly man in makeup or something to that effect. Why dont you try diffrent things? I do not have a particulary femanine face but I make the best of it. Sometimes I do not look that bad. Try getting a wig with bangs, or with hair that covers more of your maculine face. Maybe a pair of glasses would help.
Otherwise just enjoy!
And by the way, its ok to want to be a pretty woman. I sure do!

I though my last post to you on this subject in another thread was close to what your saying, but now I understand you even more. I'm glad to see for the others that wondered about the masks, you've now taken the time to explain about them and educate them as to why you use them:thumbsup:
Another member here said basically the same thing about us all being illusionists, in a sense we all are, striving to look as fem as possible.
There is a difference though to me in "brutal honesty" versus considerate honesty, which I think the latter should be given if honesty is asked for.
I like you DocSher regardless what you wear, your having fun, love your wit and humor and as said before I enjoy your posts and think you make this forum just that much more interesting to come to.
One thing w/ me though, if I ever find out your Pres. Bush behind the mask I'm gonna want to have a word with you about releasing those border guards!!!:)

Thank you for the very candid post. Its interesting to learn more about your thought processes beyond just the picture posting. We can gleen just a bit more about you.
You've found a way to express yourself that keeps YOU within a certain comfort zone and more. You have always stated that you do this within the confines of your own home, don't go out, and do it just for YOU. Well, I say, if this is what makes you really happy, fulfilled, and gets you through the next day... then GO FOR IT!
I too simply want to look "Pretty" when all is said and done. I've been luckier in the face department and am thankful for that, but... I too would be curious to see what your experimentation with makeup would be like. As I get older (am 45 now) I am finding more wrinkles, laugh lines, age spots etc... but I am determined to be a Regal Victorian Matron in my later years no matter what.
Real beauty is ageless ;)

Sherry, I very much enjoy the pictures of yourself in all of your wide variety of outfits,wigs,masks,etc.. You say you have this wrinkly,dour old man's face without the masks? I mean,that's your business. My problem is that my face and head are smoother than a tire and round and jowly no matter how much weight I lose and there have been times in my life that I've been up to 20 lbs.underweight and it made almost no difference. But I'm getting mirrors for christmas from my Sister and I'll be able to do a photo shoot of myself soon. So I figure I'll just do my makeup the best I can and not worry about the "baby fat" on my face. the masks are great but maybe you don't look so bad without them if you were fixed up just right,makeup,wigs,etc.(?) And, Sherry,I can definately understand it being a turn-on to look like a really beautiful woman. I feel the same way. And there not all young! Being old isn't passe or uncool. Cher Bono,Joan Collins and Liza Minelli are all of them,if i'm not mistaken aproximately 70 years old and they are gorgeous. the same thing with Petula Clark and Diana Rigg.

It is interesting your whole situation I have thought since I have first seen you on here.. Your not alone I feel you actions or expressions of your self are steming from being a late bloomer I feel anyways... These are things I am sure you enjoy very much in the privacey of your own home, you not hurting anyone or a threat to yourselve or others.. If you had experianced CDing as a child these would have been acted out already not saying you are acting as a child..Some of us have been there and done that..Halloween putting on the mask of a female super hero or Barbie belonging to a sister.
Starting as a late cder you really missed out on a lot, in good fortune or bad depends on the beholder. I feel you are under a foutain of enjoyment that gives you such pleasure it also makes you feel young.. Good therapy if you ask me ....Keep up the good work before long you will look young enough to 86 the mask...If that is your goal..
I am a crossdresser from a different perspective since I started as a young child. I had desires of dressing since I was 4-5 years old and I wore my younger sisters clothes when I could. I felt like I always wanted to be a girl and to be pretty. I still dress as it is part of my being. I am a feminine male and I enjoy wearing pretty clothes. I can see your point of view and I feel we all have similarities.

I think I responded to another one of your posts on this subject a few months back telling you the mask sort of creeps me out. That was my honest answer concerning the mask.
As for you, and particularly after you explained why you use the mask, I think your great! I can't recall a single post of yours that I didn't consider to be intelligent, and to the very best of my memory (that admittedly sucks) I've agreed with just about everything I've read from you.
Here's the thing! Like others have said, why do you let it worry you or bother you? Those who are going out in public worry about what people think because it is going to have a direct impact on us. What people think when they see us is going to influence how they treat us, therefore we have to be somewhat concerned.
You, however, have chosen to stay in your own home, where you "bother" no one in any way, shape, or form. Why would you possibly care what anyone else thought of your dress or mask? Good lord woman, if it hurts no one, pleases you, and makes you feel young and happy, then to hell with what anyone else (including me) might think about it!
Hiya, Doc. You already know where I stand on all of this. I agree with anyone here who has responded positively to your post....I'm in your corner. I'm no fan of masks personally, but I'm glad you found them as a way to facilitate your dressing experience. You and Kathy Leigh are my favorite mannequins. Keep on rockin', my friend.
Bobbi reads the original post and all the responses, considering her feelings on the subject of using an actual mask to cover her face when en femme. She's happy that even though on the plus side of 50, her face has stayed just about wrinkle-free, so even if she can't really pass, makeup still allows her to look mid-30ish and maybe not completely ridiculous.
Giving it some thought, she realizes that she's not yet in a position to be able to see things from Doc/Sherry's perspective. While the whole mask thing seems odd to her, she looks at Sherry in all her gear and finery, tilts her head to one side, and lets her imagination morph the scene into a boat on the water. Seeing that the boat appears to be floating, she nods her head and smiles, then wanders off for a mid-morning snack, pausing to blow Sherry a kiss before leaving.

Hi docrobbysherry, I agree with some of the thing you talk about. The reasons I like to dress is the feeling of the cloths. There softness against the body. The effort it takes for me to produce the female shape and see the illusion that I have created. The feel of the stocking or panythose, the high heels that create the arch in the feet. The feel of the breast forms that giggle and almost feel like real breast. That's why I dress. When I was very young wanted to be a girl. But as the years went by and I started to understand what happened when one gets SRS, I changed my mind.
Sherry, I must admit, I wondered when I saw your pic for the first time, but thought nothing more than maybe you use a lot of makeup, I never suspected a mask, but its whatever makes you happy, you dress to satisfy yourself.
Doc, as we have learned, there is a very wide spectrum of CDing upon which we place ourselves - it doesn't really matter so long as you are happy and content with it - "To your ownself, be true" - others may very well fit on other parts of the spectrum - but the key is - we are all on the spectrum somewhere - and that is what creates the bond among us - thats my opinion

I view the use of the mask's no diferent than some peoples use of avatar's even here on this site. And again, while not my cup of tea, for others it is, and that my dear ladies is WHY we are all here, to learn the full spectrum of the world that we encompass.
