I think at certain point it becomes an issue of shape. We don't want to look just very thin with no booty; hence the term HOURGLASS. I think, to a certain extent, the more our hip is in line with our shoulders width, the better we look.
I need to keep myself healthy and it's not hard to lose the weight for me it just happens, there’s heart problems in my family (you have to keep it healthy you know) and just thinking of losing a little more just keeps me going. I just keep telling myself the more I work out I can fit into one less dress size it’s just motivation for me.
I am 6' and 156lbs and feel great. Two years ago I was at 190 and I felt slow and clumsy. A year ago I was at around 170 and feeling better. I eat plenty of food but my job is very active with a lot of climbing and constant moving. I am much better at my job at this weight and can fit into most any skirt or jeans I want! My SO is the only one who has ever said anything about it only because she liked me better at 190. She must like me now too though cause she will look at me and say I'm hot. We had a rule about me weighing more than her but I cant help it being my eating habits haven't changed.
Last night I dreamt that I weighed 155..same as when I left high school...I should've followed my heart and started dressing as soon as I left home...now I weigh..oh..it's too PAINFUL to talk about it..I hate all you thin..well..nevermind..actually I love all of you and am soooo jealous...:daydreaming:
I am 6'4" and weigh 175 to 180. I am somewhat fit form biking and my girlfriend is sometimes envious I think. She likes me to dress sexy though, and I enjoy it. I just wish I could pass, but too tall to even try I think.

Oh my, do I ever hear about this from my wife. If I skip lunch because work is too busy, my wife thinks that I'm trying to lose weight to appear more feminine. Heck, why would I want to? All of my bones already poke out and most cute clothes don't come lower than a size 0 anyway, so why would I want to limit my options? Not that I would tell her that, mind you. I don't want a skillet upside my head. :)

At 6'4 180 I've had a few GG's jealous of my legs and the fact I can eat anything and not gain weight :)
At 5'6" and 135 lbs, the wardrobe choices get a lot better! LOL. If only I didn't have such big feet, maybe I could find some shoes that are a little more stylish. Even a size 11 is limited.
Our wives must be on the same wavelength because this is EXACTLY what I would hear from mine repeatedly!!! Not so much lately though. What she wasn't getting was that in reality, my weight had changed very little, if any, over the years. I think she finally understands that.
I get my shoes from this company, I wear a 10.5 Mens and a 12 womans there is a good choice and fair pricing,

At 5'7" I was at my best at about 155 pounds. I snuck into a form fitting size 11/12 denin dress. ( I wish I still hadn't purged the pictures) It was a pretty hot look too.
Now I am a middle age 195 on a good morning. I wish I was thinner or as confident of my looks as some of you are. All you you girls, big or small ooze femininity. Someday I will be in your league.
bare height and weight figures really mean very little when we're talking about Trans-people and crossdressing.
I've made this point in a few earlier posts, but what is important for wearing women's clothes is the ratio between hips and waist. For genetic women, the healthy relationship between waist and hips is 0.80 to 1.00 or below. For genetic men, the healthy relationship between waist and hips is 0.95 to 1.00. Thus, a waist of 30 and hips of 36, for example, which is a ratio of 0.83 to 1.00 is still a little to high to project a 'sexy woman' image.
There's only one exercise I know which increases hip size and burns lots of calories to decrease waist size: Squats (or leg presses if you have suspect knees) with Heavy Weights and High Reps. For example, I'm 5-11, 152 (this morning) and have 42 chest, 29/30 waist, and 37 hips, and my leg workouts are leg presses with 300 pounds times 25 reps times 8-10 sets. My hips are the right size for Miss size dresses, but I can't claim that they look feminine when I'm as the phrase goes, butt naked.
Jogging/Running, in my estimation, is the worst thing you can do. It melts pounds off your entire body, and especially the buttocks. Have you ever looked at a Marathoner, male or female?
And,this doesn't even address the issue about wide shoulders, masculine rib cages, and biceps mass. Even if we starve ourselves, so long as we work out our upper bodies and/or have jobs or recreational pursuits which exercise the arms, shoulders and pectorals, we're not going to look truly feminine even if our waist/hip ration is fairly good. Even if we totally ignore upper body exercises, our shoulders are still slightly structurally different, and wider than genetic females.
For my part, I have an addiction to BP's, Lats work, and light weigh/high reps biceps curls and military presses. I will never pass in a sleeveless dress! On the other hand, I have a closet full of expensive business suits and buttondown shirts which I can't afford to replace. :-))
There's a reason why TV shows like CSI, NCIS, Bones, et al, all feature forensic scientists who can tell in less than a minute whether a bone from a dismembered body is male or female.
However, because of differences in skeletal structure and muscular attachment points, we usually look a lot better in heels than genetic women,whose achiles tendons are much shorter, which tends to make their legs look thick. Woo Hoo!
There are a zillion sites which show up on a Google search which will calculate a person's Body Mass Index (BMI), which is a general indicator of overall health. If your BMI is under 21, you are probably too thin, and if it's over 25 you are probably too healthy. If it's over 30 you are probably clinically obese. However, people with gracile skeletal structure can be healthy a little below 21, and people with robust skeletal structure can be healthy a little above 25. Anyone who wants to live a maximum amount of time on the planet Earth should do this calculation once a year, at least. Generally, the closer you can get to 22 or 23 on the BMI chart calculation, the healthier you are.
Until I was about 28 years old, I weighed 125 lbs. I'm about 5' 9", and I was very undersized for a guy. And it was pretty great for crossdressing. I filled out shortly after that, and put on 15 lbs. I was at 140 for several years, and I had another growth spurt (mostly out!), and now I hover around 160 to 165. I'm still not huge, but I sure wish I was still around 140 lbs. But then, I'm not complaining about it too much, since I still have a wealth of blessings when it comes to being able to pull off the girl thing pretty well.
I'm 5'11" and 177 (this morning). I hope t be 175 by this weekend but gosh it is hard to diet when the SO is not into it.
Could you lovely ladies clarify something for me? I'm a bit confused. It seems that most who pine for "skinny" are pining for it because they want to have a more "feminine" body.
That is counter-productive action and contradictory thinking. The natural female body is meant to have meat, fat, and curves. That is, indeed, what the female body is.
The current societal standards of "feminine" beauty is an unnatural* and unachievable goal. The concept of women being skinny--let alone to that degree--is a product of patriarchy and capitalistic consumption. The ideal, starting in the Industrial Revolution, was designed to produce an image of prepubescent helplessness and inferiority. Throughout history, women have never been these things. If they had, they wouldn't have earned (and continue to earn) the rights they have today. Making things worse, beauty and cosmetic companies have seen the market in this push for unrealistic beauty and are quiet successfully making a profit off of it.
The current standard, indeed, helps explain why transmen are prone to eating disorders during puberty and onward. We are trying to keep an adolescent boy body and trying to keep away the weight and curves that would constitute a female body.
Genetic females with bodies that are considered to "naturally" meet with today's beauty standards have been known to suffer from adrenal hyperplasia (if my memory serves me), which is a condition in which the woman's body produces much more testosterone than it "should," thereby creating the ironically "ideal female" body.
Either way, models with the impossible slimness and large breasts are almost always unnatural. Why? Breasts are largely made up of fat. So don't fall into that trap, either. Usually to achieve both standards, surgery has to be performed on both areas.
So love yourselves, ladies. There's nothing wrong with you. :)
*"Unnatural" in the sense that it doesn't happen to the bulk of individuals in question, not that it never happens or is a freak-of-nature occurrence when it does. It does happen, but is not the norm via nature.

Where I keep my extra pounds, is NOT in the correct location to appear more fem. Females put it on their hips, thighs, and upper arms, generally.
Whereas I put it on my WAIST and belly! :doh: Exactly the WRONG places!
Then, there's also the fact that fem clothing looks better WITHOUT bulges! :daydreaming: This is tru for ANYONE wearing it!
Unless the bulges r in the hip/butt and breast areas!:D
At 5'6" and 155 I say fie on all you thin people. You can probably eat all you want and never gain an ounce. To add insult to injury food is probably not important to you. I say "Come on lets go get a banana split" and you reply "Oh not today, maybe tomorrow or next week or next year." Woe is me why do I love to eat.

Yes yes, but we're missing some important factors here. :)
There's nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight when it won't negatively affect health. However, there's a huge difference between wanting to lose weight in male-specific areas and wanting to become "female thin."
Further, "feminine" clothes, as we currently know them, were specifically designed to fit women who fall into the current "feminine" ideal. Which is why they hang better on thin bodies, we're conditioned into believing that's the best way clothes should look, etc. It helps perpetuate the whole issue.
All sorts of things going on in there.
So what do you suggest? That we not buy those clothes designed to fit that "feminine ideal" ? I am not gonna buy that slinky little cocktail dress because it was designed to fit some unreal expectation of what the female body should look like. But gosh.. it fits me so well. It's all just a bunch of hype, so I am not going to bother. Conditioned or not ZE it's what's on the racks at the stores. If the majority of people like it.. the majority will buy it and the designers will continue to put them out. whether or not it perpetuates the issue is neither here nor there..unless one decides to stage some sort of personal protest... Right or wrong.... it is what it is.

Weight lifting adds muscle mass. I don't want to look like a female body builder so that my clothes fit. I totally disagree with your statement regarding weights and running. I run 5 miles a day, and never ever lift weights. At 5'7" and 126 pounds my BMI is right at 20 and my hip to waist ratio is .84
Running,kickboxing,stretching, and toning exercises, along with propper diet help me keep my figure without losing too much weight in my rear or bulking up my arms or upper body. Working my abs keeps my tummy flat.
I have lost some weight lately, well 17LBS to be exact, but I am still 5'9 and 190lbs. most of that though is pretty evenly distributed with just a little pudge around the edge. Hmmm I guess the army helped me after all
My recently announced cross-dressing has inspired both my SO and I to get rid of the considerable "nesting weight" we've both put up. Having experienced it for the past five years the time has come for a change; It's just not comfortable to be overweight. Hard to say what about the crossdressing has inspired the change- maybe the increased level of communication and not assuming we know all there is to know about each other.
I love to eat. I am not a breakfast eater, early in the morning. I'm not usually hungry until around 10:30 or so. I do eat a very big lunch usually, and if I'm hungry, when I get home, I'll make dinner. I eat alot of chicken, cooked just about any way possible. My friends and family always knock my eating habits (no breakfast, dinner 3 or 4 times a week) but my health is good. I'm 52 years old, 5'8" and 160lbs and in my 30 years on the job, I have never taken a sick day. Something I am proud of. I still have a high metabolism and anything I eat, doesn't seem to last long in my system.
And I LOVE banana splits!!
Not all of us. I used to be fat - because I love to eat. But now I love not being fat more... Believe me it is a constant fight to keep the weight off. If I relax for a weekend I gain 2 or 3 pounds. Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend I will likely put on 5 to 8 lbs. Then it will take me a month to take it back off.
What do you really want and how badly do you want it?
Oh, and I am insanely jealous of you people who can eat whatever you want and stay thin.
I was 15 and 105 pounds, 5'8" with mid-shoulder length hair. Passing was not a problem. With a padded bra I looked like any other late-teen girl. With out the padded bra I looked my age. Ok not so much in a bikini but I still didn't look to bad. When I was 21 I was 130 pounds, 6' with touching the shoulders hair and passing was not a problem. By the time I was 22 I was living full time as a woman. By the time I was 23 my breasts were larger than my wifes and I was down to 125 pounds. My measurements were 35 27 33. Twenty nine years later.... Gawd I wish I were still that skinny!!!

The point is to make sure people are aware of it. You have the right to wear whatever you want...as long as that consciously was your choice and not a form of conditioning. It's a chicken or the egg dilemma: Do designers put it out because they know people will like it, or do people like it because the designers said they would? I'm in the latter group, since I believe sexism can't change overnight and that capitalism will destroy us all.
My belief is if people are more aware of why they think they like something, they'll realize whether or not they really do like it, hence either continue dressing as they do or find a style that truly expresses them. I have to disagree that the perpetuation is irrelevant; otherwise, we're stuck in hamster wheels with the whole weight and body image issue. Loud protests outside stores aren't necessary for personal betterment.

I didn't say loud protests outside of stores, I said some kind of "personal" protest like not buying the clothes. We all have the freedom to choose that which we feel suits us. You said it yourself.....we can continue or find a different style. Whichever we choose still came from some designer somewhere whether they designed their line for the stick thins or the robust.They design that which they think will sell and the consumer can make them or break them by choosing to buy or not buy.
I don't see where capitalism enters into your argument at all.( in regards to this discussion) No matter what demographic a designer designs for,skinny,average or big, the idea is to make money.We call it free enterprise.
I am not totally discounting your argument that there is in fact emphasis on weight and body.We all know that to be true, and we all know that some people will buy into that. I believe that the vast majority of us are not mindless drones who just go with the flow. Take yourself for example... you don't buy into the whole body image hype. You buy styles that you feel suit you. I am the same and i think that most others act in the same manner. I see what is offered and buy according to my personal likes and dislikes.
You are against sexism and capitalism. Why is that? Does seeing the effect of such issues not condtion you to speak out against it? My point being that we are all contioned to a certian extent, it's just part of the human condition.
(no pun intended) . Your arguement seems to focus more on capitalism rather than freedom of choice. Down with the capitalists! Don't forget that some capitalist designed the clothes you wear as well as just about everything that you use to get by in this world. You believe that you make consious choices in what you buy and why. I think that maybe you should give us credit for making the same kind of choices.

I actually fit into an old middle school (yes, middle school, not high school) cheerleader outfit for Halloween.
Was told I had the legs for it, and if I would have seen a girl who looked the way I did, I'd have to have excused myself.
I'm 5'9" have a 45" chest naturally, and 18" arms... If I was a little taller I would look like Patrick Swayze. Try naminig that look girlly...

When I was younger I hated the fact that I couldn't gain weight. I at one point I was 5'11" 138 pounds and playing wide receiver in High School. It is a wonder I didn't get really hurt.
Now I love it. I love being able to walk into a store and announce I can fit into a juniors size 7! Ultimately though it is all about proportion. I have gained some weight and think I look much better with an extra 15 pounds on my frame.

I'm kinda average. I have a gut, love my gut! I have a bit of a big jiggly butt, for my size and gender anyway :) I've always felt about my size the way girls feel, worrying about my size. It's kinda funny since as a guy I'm not considered fat but if I was a girl I'd be considered fat! I'm fine having curves, I would never want to be a skinny girl anyway. Love my curves ;) Love big, curvy women too! :D
Fact is, thin works when you want to pass, plus it's a lot easier to find stuff that fits!
5"10 140lb , just a year ago i was 120lb , all bones.
5'9" at 175 lbs. Depending on my mood I fluctuate 3-4 lbs either way. I've been trying to get back down to my high school weight of 165 but genetics and age make it super hard to drop anymore weight. It seems no matter how many miles I run, how many hours of yoga I do, or how many countless ab excercises I do the flab and weight stay on. I've even gotten pretty cut working out as much as I do despite me avoiding weight training like the plague.
As far as eating habits go, I usually skip breakfast have a decent sized meal for lunch, and a snack before I go to bed. I also only drink green tea and coffee. I'm a starbucks fanatic so I'll never give that up lol. If only I could still have the metabolism and body I had when I was younger.
6 ft 2 and 82kg (that's about 180lbs) with athletic build. I have a reasonably slim waist but the shoulders are a killer to hide.

I used to be skinnier (5'10', 135), but when you get older it's harder to keep those pounds off. My wife is diabetic and has to watch the cholesterol, and my ticker has picked up a little funny tick, so we've been eating healthier. More veggies, almost no junk food and (gasp!) lo fat yogurt rather than all of that ice cream I used to eat. Now I'm at 150, but still wear a size 10, and feel great -- yoga and aerobics in the AM help. But I would like another inch or two in the butt....

Consider the following to loose weight and the gut:
1): Whatever ya have on the plate in front of ya, eat only 1/2 of it.
2): Cut the meal intake to twice daily eating a regular breakfast and a late lunch/early dinner - REMEMBER, eat only half what you've routinely eat!.
When ya do dress femine:
a): Shower before slipping into undergarments.
b): After slipping on panties, don't put on your brassiere - WAIT.
c): Apply all facial makeup, style hair and add earrings, necklace.
d): Pull your chest and stomach in before wrappring sarin or glad wrap around the body several times. This will not hold ya iin like a girdle or corset but works well (inexpensive to). Before putting on a brassiere, wrap your body tight (over the wrap) with duct tape. This will keep ya pulled in and most if not all the gut goes to your butt. I've been using thiese techniques for years and the results are reduction of waist from 38 to 30 in 14-15 months. Of course I also walked around the block at least 3 times a week.
e): Use a sissors to cut the sarin or glad wrap (tape) when undressing.

I'm 5'-11" about 170 at the moment...maybe 175, but very thin in the legs.... size 6 misses or 7 Jr tall in jeans....so that usually gets the "oh you have great legs" or "us girls would love to have those legs" and then it's usually followed by "Bitch"!!!! but said in good humor....and I take it as a compliment....as a guy, I use to get the "chicken legs" comments from the guys...so yeah there are benefits from dressing....
