It's all just a bunch of hype, so I am not going to bother. Conditioned or not ZE it's what's on the racks at the stores. If the majority of people like it.. the majority will buy it and the designers will continue to put them out. whether or not it perpetuates the issue is neither here nor there..unless one decides to stage some sort of personal protest... Right or wrong.... it is what it is.
The point is to make sure people are aware of it. You have the right to wear whatever you want...as long as that consciously was your choice and not a form of conditioning. It's a chicken or the egg dilemma: Do designers put it out because they know people will like it, or do people like it because the designers said they would? I'm in the latter group, since I believe sexism can't change overnight and that capitalism will destroy us all.

My belief is if people are more aware of why they think they like something, they'll realize whether or not they really do like it, hence either continue dressing as they do or find a style that truly expresses them. I have to disagree that the perpetuation is irrelevant; otherwise, we're stuck in hamster wheels with the whole weight and body image issue. Loud protests outside stores aren't necessary for personal betterment.
