Thinking about doing something I have never done before....Should I?

Ok. Now I.go.out dressed as s women life of times before. But this I'm scared to do.

I'm broke down in Tulsa OK. I bought a cute dress at wal-mart the other day. I'll be here till Monday and want to see a movie. I.would love to wear my new dress but am a little scared to.

I have always felt the girls.here that do.that to.be the bravest here. But I don't know if I have the guts to do this.

What do you girls think should I?

Well, if you have already been out before, then I say do it! A movie is dark anyway, you can get there early and stay later to avoid some of the crowd if you wanted to. So go ahead.

Of course, this is coming from someone who has not been out yet.....

I always feel best in familiar territory. If your anxiety level is too high you won't have a good time and a movie is a place where you will be in one place for quite some time, likely with teenagers nearby.

Perhaps a stroll through a mall might be a better place to wear that new dress?

I've gone to the movies several times wearing a dress. It's a good way to sprnd an afternoon en femme.

I can't believe you're scared. Go to the movie, be yourself and enjoy. Going to the movies en femme is easy, especially for someone with your experience.

Ok I think I need to say that I have no makeup or wig or anything. It would just be me in male mode in a dress. If I had all I needed to full get all rolled out I would have no fear or would not be scared.

    Here is one option...

Since your car is broken down anyway...

Open the hood. Get a finger full of grease off the engine compartment and use it for eyeliner, eyelid tint and use a finger nail to make a fine line for eyebrows. Then take off two small hose-clamps to substitute for hoop earrings. Buy a 99 cent cherry slushie at 7-11 which will stain your lips red. If you have a chamois in the trunk, wear it as a head-scarf.

    There ya' go'...enjoy the movie!

oh, please post some pics if you have your camera with you!

Sorry without a wig and makeup, in male mode in a dress, I think you would be asking for trouble. Unless you carry a AK47.

Oklahoma, has a reputation of being very conservative, or closed minded, Depending on your point of view. I would save the dress for another day.

Do not go anywhere in a dress without a wig, period. Please, you are representing 'women' when out and about and the general public already has a skewed view of cd's. Wearing just a dress is a recipe for disaster and does nothing to educate the general public about people that are gender enhanced.

If you are really nervous going to a movie theatre though, go to a 3D movie. If you need practice with nerves, take in a Nascar race first. If you pass that test, you can do anything. Scared the crapola out of me at first but now I just feel normal at a race. It's the end of the race that's the worst with all the drunken penis's stumbling around. Oh, and while I'm at it, this is aimed at Mike Helton at Nascar headquarters just in case he or someone there is gender enhanced, " COULD SOMEONE PLEASE BUILD MORE LADIES WASHROOMS AT THE SPEEDWAYS!!!" I think I am PMS'ing today.

    Hmmm, Tulsa?

Isn't that where they have a big PITCHFORK factory? And, the townspeople gather every evening in the town square carrying torches?

Maybe u should cruise their Walmart first, Christine? Then, u can see what the BOTTOM RUNG of their populace wears!
U can't keep doing the same things over and over and expect to enjoy life to the max. When u try new things, even if they r out of your comfort zone, u may experience new excitement and growth that u never expected.

Challenge yourself and pursue your passions! When your life clock runs out, you'll have few or NO REGRETS!

Oklahomans for equality has a place in downtown Tulsa with all kinds of social events. You would probably be safe there.

What it comes down to is this: How well do you know Tulsa and the local disposition towards CDing? That's your primary concern (well - it would certainly be mine!). If picking up a passable wig and some basic makeup will make a real difference, I would consider it.

We need to be good to ourselves, but remember - we also need to be safe. Think it through.

    Christina,

I think barring the concern for you safety you should go for it.

I agree, that you need a wig, but, maybe a scarf over your hair would work. I also, am considering going to a movie alone, all dressed.

I've been to Tulsa many time wearing a dress (and a bald head and a beard), as I live in Muskogee, 50 miles to the southwest. There is a sizable gay scene there. And it's dark in a movie theater anyway.

A dress might be a little overdressed for the movies and make you stand out if you are afraid to go.
Try wearing something a bit more casual and that will blend you in to the crowd and go for it.

Christina, I've never been to Tulsa, but having gone out dressed from the beginning in a very small and very conservative town, I would go for it. And yes, I would do it to the best I could, with makeup and jewelry and so on. Most importantly I would leave the fear behind. Put yourself 'in character' and project more confidence than you've ever had in your life. "It takes balls to lose them"?

I see that you're from Burnaby, B.C. I've never dressed there, but can see how you're more comfortable in a city like that. I worked there at the corner of Royal Oak and Clinton for about 4 years, but it's been about 15 or more years ago, long before I began going out dressed in public.

    Hugs,
    Ann

Bill, I think the issue here is safety first and wearing a dress only does not in my opinion, increase a safe evening out to a movie, particularly if out alone. Last time I looked, society was not quite ready to socially accept the thought of a guy in a just a dress. Someday maybe? Probably, but not quite yet, totally.
