My given name is something I won't own to :head-shake:

I wanted to keep my initials, KD, as a kid that's what I made my family call me, to this day my mum still addresses me in writing as KD. An alternative variation in a name book I looked through for Kaden was Kaydee so it was perfect and requires minimal change for my loved ones.

I was going to go with Shannon for a middle name to replace Sharon by my mother insists that Sharone is perfectly acceptable for a guy so wants me to simply add an "e" to the end. I'm cool with that.

It's so cool to have a name that you can choose, feel at home with and really like, after spending my entire childhood trying to convince people to call me something different cause I hated my name I can now understand why they say that a person's name is the sweetest sound to them.

That was the coolest part for me too. When I told my mum the name I'd picked and she interrupted me and objected to what I was going to change my middle name to I kinda panicked a little, it was only the second serious conversation we had since I came out, she had been totally cool up till that point but I'd kinda been wondering if the axe was going to fall, then she turned around to explain her objection and told me how to masculinise the name and I was blown away. Showed me that she would accept my new name and therefore gender identity

I hate when I have to introduce myself with my old name, still happens sometimes and I cringe everytime.
