It does seem that some Texans are rather thin skinned (Robyn). Seems to me that the state that gave us GW surely can't get on a high horse.
That said, Jessica, I must add that as a Yankee who has lived in Dallas, Houston and Austin, and enjoyed dressing in each, never with any problem whatsoever, that Texas is not a bad place for us, not at all. At least the big cities, anyway. I now live in the North and find it accepting here also. But I'll always love Texas the most!!
I rate Texas an 8 or 9; same for Minneapolis/Saint Paul.
