ME....I kept picking names to call myself, but then I would run across some GG, someone I knew or someone famous, and I couldn't call myself that, usually because the legitimate owner had qualities that I could never hope to match...or...didn't want to match, either.

And, because I'm huge (tall AND heavy), my pitiful attempts at femininity (during the Halloween season only!) were a reproof to the image that I dreamed of conveying.

I could have chosen Mary, since ALL five of my sisters bear the name....Yeah, they're Catholic.....and it's close to my own cognomen, but I never felt like a Mary! Sooooooo, being as I approach the behavior gingerly, I became.....Ginger Leigh, which is appropriate since
#1) Ginger is short for Virginia (nuff said about that) and #2) Ginger is used as a nickname for folks with red hair, which I had some of, about 2 lifetimes ago. But, one day, while attempting to access a site that I had previously registered on, and, of course, conveniently forgot my password, the site wouldn't let me use the name Ginger Leigh, because of a previous user (ME!), so I amended it to gingerli.

I choose mine to have the same initials as my real name. So I used to refer to myself as Nicola Janet D….

Humph. Havent decided on my name

*feels sorry for onesself*

Lol

Guess if I had to pick, either Mikella (my own reasons :battingeyelashes:) or Catherine (the name I was gonna be if I was a girl)

My name if I was to be born a girl would have been Cassiopeia. I used to use that name for my early CD years but have now taken the name of Jasmine. The story behind that name is kinda funny. My name on my e-mail is just Jas, and all the spam mail calls me Jasmine so I took the name:battingeyelashes:

patricia 402
08-21-2010, 10:45 PM
my name is patrick by birth, but in grade school they used to tease me and called me "patricia" it hurt a lot but at the same time i new who i realy was inside. 43 years later and still dealing with"us"

Although I have dressed for a long time, I never felt the need to have a femine name. But I have always liked the name Heather and I started using it and its kinda sticking. I think it sounds sexy, sultry, fem. But thats just me...:)

I have tossed around several names over the years. First there was Samantha, then there was Katherine, then a combination of the two. Then came along Abigail, and Trinity.

A little while back I had thought about Brianna for awhile, my mom would have named me that if I had been born a girl.

Finally I looked at my birth name and thought why not use my initials and pick something that fits to those. Hence how I came up with Gabrielle Willow, my initials are GWT.

I chose Melissa just because I love that name for some reason. :)

Kayleigh-Marie

Kayleigh-Marie. It's just a lovely sounding name. Bit like Kelly-Marie, or Katie-Marie.... just seems to roll of the tounge nicely. :D

08-24-2010, 11:23 AM
When I first put on a wig, it reminded me a little of singer and guitarist Lita Ford, whom I love btw, but then I also saw an almost carbon copy of my sister, so Lita Kelley it was, although my wife wanted to call me Roselle.

KlaireLarnia
08-26-2010, 02:34 PM
Klaire came from my time in Second Life. I needed a name and I love the name Claire and found the surname Larnia which had a nice Asian sound to it. But Claire Larnia and Clare Larnia where taken, so I tried to spell Claire with a K and it was accepted by Second Life and hence Klaire Larnia came into life.

I now view this as the other half of my Gemini personality and Klaire walks with me everyday helping guide my actions.

In my case Elizabeth chose the name and I loved from the moment she first mentioned it. It actually means the pure one. It was like my essence became pure.:violin:

mattie
08-26-2010, 08:41 PM
My name "Mattie" is also based on my boy name "Matt". I chose it not because it was necessarily at the top of my list, but because so many of my closest friends and my family (and wife too) already call me Mattie. I know they do it affectionately, so I have positive feelings about the name.

If I were to ever transition and legally change my name though I think I'd probably change it to Madeliene, which I like much better as a legal name than "Mattie" or my boy name. And I was excited just today when I realized that Mattie can be a short form of Madeliene as well.

I was cheering inside when I saw that, I thought only Maddie (which I like a lot too) was the short form.

Anyway - there's the story.

Misty Dawn is my name.
Misty was given to me by a former GF, when I was wondering about my CD. I have just changed the y to an i, because I liked it better that way.
Princess, I added, because I think it was cute (although for my age, might be a little too cute), but it's still adorable to me. :battingeyelashes:

I have started using my femme name even when in drab mode. I get a few questions but most don't even bother to question me about the name. When I called up one of my utility companies to have my name changed, they wanted to know if I still wanted to be called by Mr. I said no, and to use the salutation Ms instead. They didn't have a problem with this at all and made the change on my account. Money talks I guess!

Hi.. I know it's probably been asked put I'm going to ask any way. How and why did you pick the female name you have.....just thought it would be fun to ask.....I picked mine because my mother would have named me that if I would have been born female.............he he..........:)

Very good topic title "Kimberly Marie"; my story is quite similar to yours as my mother was hoping for a daughter to be named Roberta for her 2nd and last child. Only baby gifts she wanted were for a girl baby and I'm sure my love of silky satiny femme things is the result of her putting me in all those lovely satin baby outfits she received as I've seen in most of my baby photos. When I discovered my feminine love in the 4th grade and wearing my mom's silky things around the house after school I never understood my need. After high school I put it all away as I entered the USAF for 4 years, met and married my wife of 49 years now. We have a wonderful marriage and 3 grown and married children. None of my children know of "Berta". My wife does but absolutely hates the idea! I once again discovered my femme side in my 40's while traveling quite a bit overnights for business. Some years ago in the old and so very wonderful MSN Crossdresser chat rooms, no longer available, I found many wonderful people who helped me so very much understand my situation and how I could never ever change my strong femme needs! Because a "user name" was needed to participate in that chat room and all the other wonderful CD sites I've discovered I decided to honor my Mom's wish and use the Berta part of Roberta in her honor as my femme name.

HUGS!!

Fuhai
08-29-2010, 10:47 AM
my friend, and her mother actually, who actually got me enough confidance to start dressing fully helped me choose my name.

The name itself is influnced by my love of japanese culture, the occult, and zombies. Fuhai, Meaning to corrupt, or rot bepending of the context, and Mitsuki, whichwasadded by the friends other andto kind of induct me into the family a bit more since I have beenafamily friend for a long while, meaning beautiful moon.

so the name "fuhai Mitsuki" itself means beautifully corrupt moon.
least thats what I was told anyway. I just love the sound of the name itself however.

I was brought out in a pink blanket when I was delivered, and my father said "and there comes Jennifer"...and then the nurse told him they were just out of blue blankets! So, I would have been Jennifer if I had really been a girl. I picked my mother's middle name "Lynn" because she has always been my role model and best friend; not to mention that I thought it was beautiful and was a perfect fit!

Emma.

I wanted something not at all like my male name and I know a few girls with this name who I'd like to emulate.

Murazor
08-31-2010, 11:17 PM
I never used a female name when in drag because the nickname people gave me is not male nor female: "Baba". It's like a puppy/cat name, not a human name, so it could work both ways.
Also, I never felt another person, nor different from the "normal" self, when crossderssing. That's why I never changed my voice pitch, too.
I always thought about crossdressing as a different way to behave, dress and make up and never pretended to be a girl.

In my eyes, all men should be allowed to dress, make up and act like girls just because all above behaviours are just cultural and not really tied to gender.

I picked Drew for my fem name because I am a painter, and it is a name someone could call me when I wasn't dressed. If I wasn't dressed and someone was chatting with me in public they could call me Drew and it wouldn't raise any eyebrows. If they called me Michele it may. I am comfortable with the name.....Drew

well obviously i picked hayley hehe...

i kinda picked the name because i have always liked the name, how it sounds etc...but also because two of the most beautiful girls i know, and beautiful in differing ways, are both called hayley...and i thought if i could be anything like them, looks, femininity, kind, etc, then i would be doing ok...and the name is a start i guess...

Maria 60
09-06-2010, 12:18 PM
My wife would be cloth shopping, she would see a skirt or a pair of shoes and
ask me if i wanted it. I told her i didnt feel comfortable that she would ask me out loud. The next time we were shopping she asked me if Maria would like this skirt, i didnt know what she was talking about. Then i caught on and thats how i got my name. She said i look like a Maria when iam dressed.

Jeannie

I have already mentioned this before, but I chose my name from a real estate agent I had once upon a time and she was just a very wonderful and extremely understanding person. She even let us stay at her private residence while she was out of town during our waiting period. She went the extra mile and was a very lovely wonderful person. I love you Jeannie. Thanks for all you did.

Delenn

My name 'Delenn' is from space serial ,,Babylon 5,,. She is woman from other planet who changed her body (like butterfly) to earth woman for love and to keep peace in the universe:) I love her strong and lovely caracter, so I picked this name to be happy girl - woman - lady:daydreaming:

Um mine's Domino, named after the bounty hunter Domino Harvey (the real one, there was a movie about her). She was the first women in the US to get the Bounty Hunter of the year award and was also a kick ass girl. She ODed while the movie was in production. She was said to have strong ties to the gay community (she really did) and fought any reports saying so

My mom was going to name me Susan if I'd been born a girl (she was close--but not close enough!) I knew too many Susans in grade school for that one to work for me. A GG girlfriend that used to dress me and have me serve her (in many many ways) called me Evette, but I never felt that was me. A later girl friend asked me to name several names I liked. I gave her a list of two dozen, and she picked Heather from it. I was thrilled, as I love that name and it is actually more me than my male birth name.

I jult like the name, and it had no real-life associations for me.

Ok I picked the name because it was the first thing that came to my mind when I looked in the mirror when fully dressed for the first time. I also like it because the name reminds of someone I had a crush on in grade school. Now i know I wish I could have been her. Anyway it appears the name I have chosen is the same as my wifes' former husbands ex wife. She is asking me to change it to Jaycee. I am not sure where she came up with the name however changing ti will cause a rash of changes to my email accounts and identities as far as others know me. I can't really complain about the request for the change since my wife has been a total supporter of my dressing and journey to figure out where all of this will lead me. She has taken me out twice in the past couple of months and even once stopped the car in a parking lot asked me to get out and took some pictures of me. We have explored a great number of things together and went shopping once for girl clothes together. She wears the same size as me so I figure she has a little interest in it there. We share each others clothes. So what advice can any of you give me? Should I change the name since I am not especially attached to it....... Thanks for your replies
Sharee (Jaycee)

Hey, Delenn:

All my daughters love Delenn best on B5! I'm a G'Kar fan on that series, but I love Delenn, too, and by extension, you.

Me? My heroes have always been Kara-s: Kara Zor-El (Supergirl), Kara Thrace (Battlestar Galactica) and Kara Goucher--the US olympic women's distance runner. Strange how life works, isn't it?

Oh, and my old, old GF named me Heather from a list I chose for her to consider--she chose the one I wanted most, and we put Evette to sleep --Evette was my first GF's name for her Heather Maid, but she didn't know me enough to know that "Evette" was not who I was. I still love her, though and wish her all the best in the world!

i semi officially chose a name for my femme self today. i have gone out before but never really with any purpose or interaction. today i went out dressed first the first time to the consignment shop i started shopping at recently. when i made my purchase they asked for a name so i said Eva. she asked do you have a last name? so i had to think about it, so i am now Evalynn James in 2 shop computers =-) i bought some earings(clip on hoops) a jacket, and at the second shop i got some foundation that actually matches my complextion. too bad i have to wait a whole month to go out again. it was such a rewarding experience.

Winnie has been my nickname since I was a child. I use it for my female name (with the spelling changed) as it's convenient and a name I really like... My female middle name is Helen as it's the name I was teased with when I was a child for being a little bit girly...

LisaLedoux
09-12-2010, 08:12 PM
I liked the name Lisa, and my last name was picked at random when I had to do some online investigations some years ago. I got used to my online name and began to consider it my true name. Am retired from that line of work for some years now.

Karenmarie
09-14-2010, 12:28 AM
I have thought about my femme name for most of my life. In my fantasies, it was normally Karenmarie or just
plain Karen. Have no idea why Karen, just a name that I love. Marie....My Mom's middle name and I have always
love the name Marie. So it seems that when I became a girl in my fantasies or even in real life, my name was
always Karenmarie. On the forums I've switched it to Karen Marie (2 names) and then Harris. Harris is a name
that I have loved for centuries, so thats that.

When I decided to join this forum it was the first thing that popped into my mind. She was my tenth grade chemistry teacher, a mousy little dark-eyed thing with a perm and a twangy Southern accent. We made fun of her as kids do but I guess she was as good a role model as any. Ha!

Almost the exact same story as Jeri Ann. Trisha was the girl up the block who as a teenager back then had more grace and sophistican than many women I know today. She's my alter ego's role model.

Donna Jameison

My friend Amber helped me pick it out the Donna Jameison part, but as I started thinking decided to throw in Faith as well because I love it from the tv show "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" So my name is Donna Faith Jameison. A bit iffy if i should keep my original last name or go with something different.

My male birth name begins with the letter J. I wrote down about a dozen girls' names that I liked that begin with J on separate slips of paper, mixed them up in a jar and let fate decide as I picked the one that said "Jennifer". I don't remember how many years (or decades!) ago I did this but I've been Jennifer ever since.

I picked my husband cd name. I think it fits him, playful, prissy, feminine, Her name is Carrie.

Sophie_Serendipity
09-19-2010, 10:42 AM
I chose Sophie because it is a name that has so much meaning to me. In Gnostic tradition, Sophia symbolises the feminine aspects of God, while in later religious writings Sophia come to represent feminine wisdom. I really also loved the book Sophie's World, and the movie Sophie's choice (although it makes me cry). I also get a lot of inspiration from Catherine the Great of Russia, who's real name was Sophia. She was not inhibited by gender and was able to use it to her own will. When fulfilling the role of a glorious and beautiful empress, she would dress in the most incredible flowing dresses and jewellry, and became the most beautiful woman in Russia. When dealing with her generals on matters of military importance however, she would ride to the Kremlin gates on warhorse dressed in a full general's uniform. I just admire this woman so much.

Apart from that, I just love the name.

Emily Barton
09-19-2010, 05:30 PM
I chose Emily pretty much at random... I needed an alias for setting up my blog and after considering it for a while Emily felt right somehow.

After I chose it a good friend of mine (the only one who knows about my desire to CD, etc) said that I reminded her of Mischa Barton, so that's where that part came from. Mischa is gorgeous so its absolutely fine by me! ;)

My full femme name is Alyssa Shirley Englefield. The name "Alyssa" came from a search for popular girls' names in 1991 (the year I was born), and is not far from the name Mum would have called me if I was born a girl (Alicia). "Shirley" comes from both my grandmothers' first name - yes, both were named Shirley. "Englefield" actually came from my bathroom vanity ("Englefield Bathrooms")

Kinda picked my name outta thin air, although it does reflect my love for Western wear in general, and Calamity Jane is the most famous Western girl I think there is, and she displayed the right mix of female and male traits.

I picked So Yon. Not only do I love playing a girl, but I also love playing Asian. I think I pass for Korean more than any other... and So Yon is a girl I worked with a long time ago. So, I picked that one :) Also, it kind of stands out from typical CD/TS names like "Destiny" or "Candy"

I thought about maybe Ayme as an alternative spelling, but I'm having second thoughts.

Asako
09-22-2010, 11:33 PM
As ridiculous as it might sound, I chose the name Terra from one of the main characters in Final Fantasy 6. Terra had a mind manipulation device attached to her for most of her life, stripping her of the ability to think. Once it was removed, she became a quiet girl who was introverted, afraid to trust people while always thinking about what her existence meant. She was the ONLY natural magic user in the world and at first regarded herself as a freak of nature. Over time, her experiences taught her otherwise and she came to terms with herself and even being fortunate enough to love and be loved by a group of children who lost their parents.

I initially picked the name because I had come to like it but now that I look back, pieces of the past for the character Terra can be related to my life. So, I don't imagine I'll be changing from this name any time soon.

My real name is Lance... Growing up I always had people call me Lancie as sort of a juvenile sign of affection or something.. I went by that for awhile but it still seemed like my male name so I just dropped the "N" and moved it out after Lacie. Hence Lacie Anne (or N)

PuniPuni
09-26-2010, 06:09 PM
I spy a Konata in this threat! *gets my net*

The story of the rise of PuniPuni is a long and complicated one which I will tell now because I'm putting off writing a paper. About 2000, I discovered the Internet! \o/ What followed was about 7 years of multiple online handles, most of which revolved around the anime Tenchi Muyo. Then about my junior year of college I realized that more animes than Tenchi exists and that I had money. So I got into other animes. I was also a history student and ran around as Anu, a Mesopotamian god of the sky or light or something... Anyways, at about that time I was diagnosed with clinical depression! \o/

After three years of therapy and such, I realized that my old online handle was making me depressed, so I created a new one. But this time I was sick of all my handles bringing out the most negative in me, so I made myself create the most positive image I could. Using the anime Popotan as a source of inspiration, PuniPuni was born! (Puni means "squishy" or "plushie" in Japanese). I've been PuniPuni for about four years now and so far it's the longest online handle I've ever had. Whether I'd introduce myself as PuniPuni in public is hard to say. It's not really a normal name in any culture... But I likes it. <3

Three girls I grew up with and idolized and wanted to look/be like. I am named Brandi after one of my best friends Brandy growing up. Ironcially none of the three girls knows about Brandi since I have lost touch with them.

My wife and I sat down many years ago with a baby name book and picked it out. It is of celtic origin, and my last name is a reference to my male first name.

Well, my female name is Daniella, or Dani for short. I chose it based off my middle name. Daniel. (Pronounced Danielle, the traditional hispanic way. :P) I added the a on then end because...honestly...it sounded more Italian, and even though I'm not Italian, I sorta wish I was. xD I even chose a new middle name too: Monette. Cause it sounded pretty. ^_^ Daniella Monette Gonzalez. :)

Asking my Mum what she would have called me if I'd been born a real girl.

Ashley Williams
10-01-2010, 03:04 AM
I have had 3 names. The first was the UK female spelling of my birth name, which was very confusing, because with so many US users on both the forums I joined, I discovered that the British convention - Leslie male, Lesley female - is reversed. Not sure if that's true everywhere, but then after my first trip out dressed I thought a proper 'femme name' would be appropriate. Those likely to offended by religious jokes stop reading now!

It was in January, near the date when I was confirmed into the Anglican Church, the Feast of the Conversion of St Paul - so I called myself Paula D'Amascus ( ie - Paul on the road to Damascus - feminised.

That served until my marriage ended and I planned a legally binding name change, at which point I wanted a name that wasn't really a joke - no joking matter at any level any more - and also one that I could use all the time - not only in female mode as it will be a while before I can consider going full-time.

I then thought about my wife's and my plans, when we met, to have a child ourselves. She already had a daughter, but we thought it was not too late to try. Well - with the tests and everything it worked out that I had plenty of resources numerically, so to speak, but too high a proportion were damaged - so it was unlikely that we would manage a child.

When we were trying we discussed names, as you do, and by quirk of fate hit on a name, regardless of whether it was a boy or girl - and settled on Ashley.

So that is now who I am - all legal and above-board!

not really a big story to me picking my name =) Just that my real name is kyle so my Girlfriend called me Kylie so i suck with that LOL, i know that Kyle can be a girl's name as well but Kylie sounds better to me =P.

Tiffany Diamond
10-01-2010, 10:07 AM
Well lets see.....
Tiffany = My wife called me Tiffany once when she was mad at me because I was acting like a co worker named Tiffany.
It stuck after that.
Lee = Is the oldest of my three sisters middle name and she asked if I would carry it too.
Marie = My wife has two legal middle names. Marie being the second so she added it to Tiffany Lee and it became Tiffany Lee
Marie
Diamond = A universal last name shared with another CD sister I am close too. We chose Diamond because neither of our own
last names fit well.

Tiffany Lee Marie Diamond

I did the supremely lazy thing of just taking the names of two actresses I fancied a bit (Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz), and just did a bit of a cut-n-shut job!
I recently found out that there's a Latina actress with my name!
When I dress, I keep my real name anyway (which is really blokey btw), this is just a cheap alternative to use in public!

Tamii
10-04-2010, 06:49 PM
Tam is Matt (my real name) backwards the two i's replaced a y over time to make......Tamii!!

Detroit Molly
10-04-2010, 07:33 PM
I went with Molly because it's one of my favorite names, and it's the name of one of my favorite fictional characters, Molly from William Gibson's Sprawl Trilogy. Although, I'm not nearly the badass that Molly Millions is.

Munshine (moonshine is how it is pronounced) Nightwood was the name of a druid character that I played a long time ago. I loved the name, and that is why I chose it foe my female name.

Mary Morgan
10-13-2010, 12:01 AM
My name has evolved a bit just like me. I have chosen to be Mary Louise because Mary was my mother and I wish to honor her. My middle name is Louise and it comes from my wife. When I told her I was a CD, she said "geez louise", so I am Mary louise.

10-23-2010, 01:35 AM
I chose my name because I wanted a name to reflect my Jewish heritage, as my birth name does. I recall going to a baby name book and writing down all my favorites, Sarah, Rebecca, Leah, Rachel and I'm sure a few others. After agonizing for a while, Rachel just seemed "right" to me, so I chose it and have never looked back.

I didn't know it then, but I found out several years later that my Great Grandmother Rae's name was short for Rachel. There's something nice about that connection and I'm honored to have her name.

elle_2000

elle is French for she so I have been told. This is also a pronoun so it refers to all things feminine. I also never use a capitol e when writing elle.

I to have been finding it very interesting as to how each of us and our CD names come/came together. As I said a long time ago mine is based on a common mispronunciation of my male name. It is also the name of my real Half sister.

Cheryl J

I may have entered here before but here we go again. I call myself Yvonne after my SO suggested it was her favourite name that is not the name of a relative. I was called Cheryl, hence the UserID ( I am too afraid to ask the Admins girls to change it again for me!).

Just call me Yvonne.

Tami Jane Wilde, variations on my male name. I didn't really like the name my mom had picked had I been born a girl.

brandi.tgurl
11-01-2010, 01:18 AM
Originally, I had picked Austyn because I thought it was cute, feminine, and unique - as well as a name that could be both female or male (with different spelling). I felt that just using the femme version of my own name was cliche. However, as time as gone on, I find that its much easier to use my birth name en femme - and I think it is less confusing to the soul to accept my birth name than to use a moniker. I understand, that for some, the female self is as different from their male self as the names might be. At first, I fell into this group. There are also the unlucky few with names that don't feminize well.

Lastly, had I been born a girl, my parents had a completely different name in mind - but it would have been just as easily swapped between sexes.

I picked the name Danielle as it was a name I always liked and it has many different ways to shorten it to something different if I wanted

PrettyGirl

My sister's suggestion, she thought it would be good as i wouldnt have to change my initials :) but id kinda choosen the name 'Alice' at that time (probably because it felt like i was falling down a rabbit hole hehe).

Since returning to the forum, i decided to go with the name she mentioned. The 'Dee' was just random though lol, i thought it sounded nice :) + there were tons of other Rachels so i had to pick something to make it different lol.

The process for choosing my female name was an interesting one. It was a team effort by me and my fiance. Lauren would have been my name had I been a genetic girl. I love the name of Jennifer and my last name of Weiss was created because it sounded good and feminine.

Laurenlovecd
11-19-2010, 02:07 AM
I chose Lauren because it is very close to my real name, didn't realize it was so popular in the CD world. I'll stay with it, I like it.

11-20-2010, 05:40 AM
I chose mine from a character I've spent time creating in one of my books. Beretta. I always felt that I identified more with her than I did with the male co-protagonist who was originally supposed to be based off of me...

Not really origional but my real name is Michael so I went with Michelle.

aya-chan
11-23-2010, 02:00 AM
I wanted something different, so I chose Aya. It's one of my favourite Japanese style names, and I was inspired by my favourite Japanese voice actress, Aya Hirano. And plus it doesn't sound too strange in English, which many Asian names do.

Tina June
11-27-2010, 04:55 PM

Mine is from my Gorgeous Wife's middle name and my mums maiden name XX

Donna June
11-29-2010, 02:47 PM
Same thing as Kimberly who started this thread. My mom once told me she was sure she was going to have a girl when pregnant with me (as far as I'm concerned she did) and was going to name her Donna June. She liked the name Donna and I was to be born in June, so since it was to be my name I kept it and liked it. If it wasn't for that I probably would've chosen Melanie. There is another Donna June around who has a website. She is into the 50's look and named herself in honor of Donna Reed and June Cleaver.

StacyChambers
11-29-2010, 03:28 PM
Ever since I was little I've loved the name Stacy. Chambers is from the now-defunct (a pity; it was very good) restaurant Chambers Kitchen in Minneapolis, MN. The two names just seemed to fit well together.

Tillie
12-01-2010, 10:34 AM
I found a website where you enter your name and it will search for names of either or both gender that might be related to it along with all the possible spellings for it. There are other options as well but I don't remember and if I ever find that website again, I will post it.

KendraGardner
12-03-2010, 09:33 PM
Kendra was the name of a girl I had a crush on in Middle / Junior High School. She was quite the early bloomer, developing well before the rest of the girls in class. She was the first girl near my age whose curves reminded me of the swimsuit models in the magazine. Gardner is simply a tribute to Ava Gardner -- a classic brunette beauty whose charms could tame the most powerful men in the world.

Davina99
12-04-2010, 11:24 AM
I never really had one until I joined the forum and Davina just popped into my head during the sign on process. The same day my wife decided to call me Michelle when I am en femme. I'll answer to both!

TracyBoy

I picked my name back when I was 14. I just liked the name Juli and picked my middle name to be Anna from a girl I knew with that middle name... (well Ann was her middle name) so I became Julianna or Juli lol. if I could pick another it would be Abigail. just a classy sounding name to me.

I dont think i would actually have a female name if there was no net & forums etc.. i just picked my name becouse i like it... but it does suit me, somehow.

DebsUK
12-09-2010, 03:31 AM
I had used Julia at a T-girl group I first came out at, but after a change of area and a bit of a dressing lull I decided I preferred Debs (or Debbie). No reason other than I just like the name. I do think it kind of suits me somehow.

A friend gave it to me who really unlocked my desires once and for all. She was the first one to help me with my makeup, hair(wig), and outfits. She dressed me and undressed me for hours and it felt so good. By the end of it all she had named me and still calls me that to this day.

I just love the name Kate. Simple but nice.

Zoe Preston
12-12-2010, 05:47 PM
For years I never had a name because there wasn't a need for one. When I arranged to go to a dressing service I realised that it might be a good idea if they referred to me by something other than my male name.

So I started working my way through the alphabet - but starting from Z because I delight in being different :D As you can see I didn't get very far. I once knew a Zoe, smart, sophisticated, sexy - in fact all the things I'm not

Zoe

Do you chose a name you like or one that best suits who and what you are inside?

PretzelGirl
12-18-2010, 02:57 PM
I am going to take a second entry on this. I originally signed on with just Sue_cd to keep it simple (later dropped the CD as I saw no one had taken Sue before). But now that I am branching out on-line and off-line, having just a first name doesn't distinguish me. So to add a last name, I went through the family genealogy and I picked out Leighton.

So for those of you seeing Sue Leighton outside of this forum, you now know it is me.

My fem name, Celes, has a few origins that are special to me. First is a character name in my favorite game from Super Nintendo, Final Fantasy 3 (6)'s General Celes. That game was so well done and her storyline was one I found myself especially interested in. Just thinking about that game brings back a lot of very fond memories.

Second would be from dreams. I have had one strong reoccurring dream for the past two or three years and counting of being in various (usually science fiction space based, thank you Star Treck, Star Gate, and Star Wars franchises *shakes her fist*) different situations with my dream girl Celes. I don't know anyone with the name personally, and always see her as a woman about my height, medium to short black hair, fairly slim. A lot similar to myself in build really, perhaps even my subconscious reflection of my fem self (I only can hope to look as good as her though!).

Andy is Andi Too
12-19-2010, 12:39 AM
The whole feminine name thing was pretty weird at first--I sort of didn't get it. Then after thinking about it a while I chose something pretty elaborate --Evianna. It is very feminine and I still like it. But for simplicity I just took Andy and made it Andi since the name easily goes both ways (ahuhmp!). I then added the "e" as that is the more familiar spelling (Andie McDowell).

Jill M
12-22-2010, 08:36 AM
As a man my friends call me Jack. I guess Jill would fit right in.

Shawn to Sheila

A friend of mine helped me come up with it :)

I chose Samantha Anne somewhat on a whim, but I have grown to really like it.

JohnH
12-24-2010, 12:51 PM
When I signed up initially for the forum I decided to use my masculine name John. Since then I have had a change of heart, and requested that my user name be changed from JohnH to JohannaH. Johanna as a feminine variant of John is very close to the Hebrew or Aramaic name for John.

I have thoughts of having HRT floating around in my mind. If I were to transition to a woman Johanna would be the new name.

Jill Devine
12-24-2010, 03:58 PM
My real name is Julian which sounds a lot like Jillian. So I used Jill for short.
The surname of Devine is from a healthy dose of vanity. Hehehe.

theresa
12-24-2010, 07:44 PM
Theresa just seemed a natural for me. It also allowed me to hang on my same initials

Rilulia
12-25-2010, 02:03 AM
I came up with Rilulia because I really like old latin place names. But if I went with something traditional or close to my name Joseph - I'd most likely choose Johanna. So I guess I could have two names :P

Mary M
12-25-2010, 03:19 AM
mary would have been my name if i was born a girl and it's only one letter different from my boy name and it felt right, and the "m" is from the first letter of the last name of an artist's name on a nude painting i liked. my real last name doesn't start with "m"

DaniPat
12-27-2010, 03:54 PM
I picked Danielle Patricia for a number of reasons but the most pertinent is the D in Danielle is the first letter of my first name, and the P in Patricia is the first letter in my middle name.:heehee: Besides I really like how Danielle Patricia sounds.:D

TTFN, kisses.

Danelle Tino

I sadly have no idea what my fem name would be. Given name is kenneth - any ideas?

PatriciaDelicia
12-29-2010, 03:51 AM
my female name is Patricia Delicia
Patricia cos my male name's Patrick
Delicia cos it sounded flamboyant and I like flamboyant clothing

Jess Marie
12-29-2010, 04:34 AM
I am not sure why I picked Jess. I always thought the name Jess was hot, and since my dream is to put on a skimpy dress and go to the club, I want to be Jess. The hot brunette in a short black dress.

12-29-2010, 09:51 AM
I usually go by Alison, i've put a lot of thought into my female name through the years, it is something that has always been on the back of my mind. I dont really remember how I ended up with Alison to be honest, but i really like the name, and i think it fits me and my personality.

amanda williams
01-02-2011, 02:21 AM
I used to live on the corner of Amanda Street and Williams Street, hence my fem name Amanda Williams.

Jennifer Freeman
01-02-2011, 02:31 AM
When Jennifer first went out in public in 1971, (40 years ago!) I chose a name with the same initials as my birth name. Jennifer because I like that name and Freeman because as Jennifer I am Free, but still a Man.

I am still not certain how serious I am about crossdressing but if I had a female name it would be Debra, most likely. Mainly because it is the first thing to come to mind. I might want a sexier name.....I dunno. I guess I will have to think about it.

Samantha Scott
01-03-2011, 11:36 AM
My name comes from the show Bewitched, I loved her character. She was very beautiful and I also liked the idea of being a housewife when I first started dressing. These days I also think there is a bit of Samantha Jones from Sex In The City in me, very confident as opposed to the shy person I used to be when I was a child.

amy_swan
01-03-2011, 09:19 PM

My female name is Sara, and I got it from an ex-girlfriend. Her oldest daughter's name is Sara, and she is the most beautiful little girl I've ever seen(not in a perverted manner, either)!! So, I figured that since I would never be as beautiful as her, at least I could share her beautiful name!! Plus is a good christain name!! ;-D

I've heard it from my mom a couple times that before I was born they thought I was going to be a girl. They were going to name me Michelle but then, defiant as always, it just didn't happen that way. So I guess I would say my female name is Michelle although I'm not too sure how keen I am on it.

Hi Kimberly Marie
I gave a great deal of thought and time to my name (I guess we all do) Helen is a name I have always loved whenever I have been intorduced to girls called Helen. I had wished if I were born a genetic girl that would have been my choice of name. Chapel is a family name but I'll say no more about that to protect the innocent! ;)

I picked my because it is close to my own. Only the female version. I also took my grandmothers maiden name just because I think it is pretty.

My boy name is Michael and I could have taken the easy route and go with Michelle but I decided to go with something exotic. Davorra was a woman i had a fun weekend a long time ago. Lots of happy memories and she was a most amazing redhead. So I took the name of Davorra to honor her memory where ever she is now.

I chose my name from three parts

1) Annabelle - From the first girl I ever had a crush on
2) Marie - Thats my sisters name
3) Jorden - Is from my nom de plume

Not real imaginative, but I like it.

My mother told me if I had been born a GG she was going to name me Alicia Nicole so when I heard that I started to use that name.

I spent many, many hours trying to come up with a good femme name that I felt fit my personality. For me it's all about the phonetic "feel" of the name. I looked through countless baby names and used a couple random name generators. Finally found a generator that allowed for some customization and I eventually found the right one. The last name ("Everett") I just felt worked with the first name. Thus I am Krista Everett.

For all my 38 years of CDing I called myself Wendy, however I met my SO 3 years ago and she has a sister named Wendy. Refering to myself as Wendy just did not feel right so I changed to Jane (very origonal (-: ) but I see myself as androdine and my fem side is still me, so we don't really refer to Jane very much. My SO is more comfortablewith this arrangement wich makes me more comfortable to. I am one of the lucky ones as she is 100% understanding and supportive. I try not being dressed when she visits but she insists on seeing photos of me in all my ugly glory. Another plus is thatshe spoils me rottern and is forever buying me things from makeup to shoes. I am really lucky and I love her with all my heart, mind and soul.

I named myself Cindy after the character in the 90's T.V. show "Just The Ten Of Us". I wanted to be a red head and the Cindy character was one. Also my first name begins with the letter "C". I found out later that the first girls name given by my mother if me or my brothers would have been a girl would have been Cynthia.

Torrey

Narrowed it down to 3...Kirstie from a character in my first novel; Evangaline from my love of Louisiana; but I went with Torrey because I love Torrey Pines in San Diego (I prefer the glider port because as much as I enjoy golf, I suck at any challenging course).

Amawa Hibiki , I wanted a Japanese name since I have been connected to them personally my entire life. Hibiki is unisex but mostly used for girls, meaning sound/echo. It also is a real name used by a CD to get a job at a school that did not hire male teachers.

He teased me for days and called me Charlene. I guess really, I liked the name and sooooooooooo.

Savanna
01-25-2011, 05:32 AM
My male name didn’t offer any variations that I liked. I also didn’t want to use anything that sounded like a cheesy stage name. There are several female names that I had always liked. But, at the time I was trying to select a femme name to use, it seemed like each one was also the name of a friend, co-worker or close relative. I didn’t need something totally unique, but still wanted a name that felt more personal to me and not one that reminded me of someone I knew. Then, I remembered that about 25 years earlier, a distant relative (both in connection and location) had a baby and named her Savannah. At the time I had thought that it was one of the prettiest and most unusual girl names I had ever heard. I believe that I only saw her once as an infant and most likely will never see her again. I had almost forgotten about it because I had rarely seen it since then and not as the name of anyone I really knew. I have sometimes used it as Savannah and sometimes drop the “h” on the end.

The first name of one and middle name of the other of two of my grand daughters. Since they don't use their names, I figured I would. Besides, it just 'kinda flows'.

Of course, I could have been EmmaRose for the same reasons.

Kathy Renee
01-25-2011, 09:37 PM
This is from a post of mine in another thread concerning names: I had always liked the name Kathy and used it as my fem name forever. Paraphrasing from another thread regarding naming: I learned a few years ago that some baby name personality study defined Kathy as a dark-haired woman who is quiet, friendly and very kind which fits me very well. While signing up for CrossDressers.com I decided that I needed a middle name. I always liked Renee. I looked up Renee and one source said that Renee meant reborn or born again. I considered my acceptance of my fem side a rebirth. Joining CrossDressers.com was a rebirth of sorts as I have begun to step out of the closet. My first and middle fem names are very precious to me.

About 7 years ago I chose Missy after converting my middle name to Michelle but it not sounding right. Michelle sounded too prim and proper for my personality and after working through Mishy in chat rooms Missy came to me.

Thank Stella.

Somehow the names DID just 'flow' to me. I could have been a feminized version of my male name and been Lauren. Somehow, it just didn't sound feminine enough and Lord knows I AM sometimes the most 'girly' of girls. Gives me the shivers when I'm feeling 'that' way and 'that' way seems to be coming more and more these days.

I've gone through several name changes, but most recently I chose the name Amber. There too many Nikki's out there.

Ash Leland
01-27-2011, 04:44 PM
I chose Ashleigh because I think it's just what I look like while en femme...which is interesting, because I'm told that I really look like a Patrick (legal name) when I'm in male clothing...I also chose that spelling because I like how it looks written or typed :-)

As for Dearborn...I really like fall colors, and Dearborn brings fall to mind...wasn't Athena's symbol a dear? Maybe that's reading too much into it...

WillowWriter
01-29-2011, 12:45 AM
I picked Willow, because my mom always calls me that, and it kinda a feminine name, I guess. :P I like it very much too.

Natalee
01-29-2011, 11:17 AM
I've never really considered applying an alternate female-name to myself, until hanging around here.. And when first logging on to this forum in curiosity, I had *NO* idea I'd be returning, so my alias was picked in haste.

I've read many good ideas here for finding a meaningful name (thank you). Plus, my alias of "neverenough" doesn't really fit my female persona, and look.

I've come down to "Natalee". This is a merging of my name, and the girl who claimed my virginity ohhh so many years ago. Plus I like the name.

So thoughts?? Does the name fit? Respond here I guess, or put a PM on my profile page!

Breannah
02-11-2011, 02:33 PM
Might be a bit weird, but when i was around 14 i played 'puzzle pirates' and had a gf on it who lives near me, she convinced me to make a characted as a girl called Breannah and i enjoyed playing it as a girl so much, the whole crossdressing things gone from there. Although weve moved on to new bf's / gf's we are now like sisters when we talk, as in clothes, makeup and flirting with boys (which i only do on games as a girl, i only like boys when im as a girl not as a boy)

Dani is a shortened version of my male name. I chose Fay as my middle name for two reasons -- 1) A Friend Who Knows (I always feel that phrase should be capitalized) once said I was getting my "Dani Ferocious" on, a reference to Beyonce's Sasha Fierce alter-ego; 2) because I had the "F" starting point, I started looking up F names, and liked the way "Dani Fay" ran so... smoothly.

After fooling around with this some, I decided to tack an E on to the end. Dani Faye. No last name - she doesn't need one :)

I always loved the name Stephanie, but I thought it kind of pervert to use it as it is my daughter’s name, so I chose next name that I have always liked, to me Jessica personifies femininity. Its meaning is a gift, for me I have been given a gift in finaly being able to identify myself as the woman I am inside and whom I should have been born as.

JESSICA

Matt2Marissa
02-14-2011, 12:57 AM
At first, I was going to be Emily, because for whatever reason, it just sounds very feminine and I could not think of any "M" female first names that sounded feminine that did not belong to a girl I know. I finally came up with Marissa due to its sounding close to Matt, my actual first name, its feminine sounding quality and its meaning with my chosen middle name, Claire, thus combining them means "clear sea". That's significant to me because it kind of means I don't have this thing blocking my inside feelings to the outside and the outside can't see in.

My name comes from a childrens book that I used to read to my daughter. Also I always liked the name Gillian.

I thought long and hard about names. I wanted something simple, that could be applied from day to day and wouldn't stand out in a crowd. I had a small list. I never wanted to use my own last name though. It ws funny. Growing up, my mom always told me that she was convinced I was a girl. The name she had picked out was Jessica. the last two names I had on my list were Jessica, which I had pretty much adopted from day one, but I had always liked Dylon. My wife finally suggested that be my last name. Thus it is now. The most important women in my life named me. Jessica Dillon. And it's never going to change!

Ingrid1999
02-15-2011, 05:52 PM
I picked Ingrid because it is a strong yet feminine name. I also like it because it is germanic, my given name is german and I like german names but I did'nt want to sound like I was coming out of an opera (not too much anyway).

JenniferForFun
02-18-2011, 09:21 AM

Just how i think of it.

I picked Christina to honor a dear friend of mine who died way too young. Even though it has been twenty plus years since her death, I still think about her and miss her every day. I picked Renee as a middle name in honor of a friend that I met here in the forums who has always been willing and extremely helpful to not only me but to everyone in need of guidence and advice.
